LOL. Add Russia, as my mole on the ground said that gossip there is that Iran told Russia and who then told Qatar. The world are the mugs in the audience to this shit show.

And I bet the price of petrol has gone up...

Serpentstooth · 24/06/2025 09:09

Whoopsie! Dropped it, slippery things these peace prizes. It was the shock of hearing from BBC news 9am that neither Iran or Israel are being obliging enough to stop trying to kill the other for the convenience of Bigly.

There are murmurings that it was Qatar who brokered the cease fire

MN, we need the laughing emoji asap!

Did my new shared link work?

Sorry, yes, thank you. I heard someone (I think an Iranian authority?) on LBC yesterday afternoon talking about the very same thing. Curiouser and curiouser.

Good God! Pure comedy as Iran denies they have broken the ceasefire.

It's pretty standard in these types of negotiations to use diplomatic back channels so that you are not talking directly to the "other side", and also give you plausible deniability if it all goes Pete Tong.

As @JoshLymanSwagger can attest, the Swiss are usually very good at that sort of thing.

PickAChew · 24/06/2025 09:57

Ah. It's one of those ceasefires.

RafaistheKingofClay · 24/06/2025 10:27

I went for a nap and woke up to discover the forever ceasefire didn’t last forever.

Giving Trump a peace prize for this would be like giving Putin the peace prize for withdrawing his troops from Ukraine.

RafaistheKingofClay · 24/06/2025 10:44

I’m guessing it’s now the 13 day war. Boy is Trump going to be pissed when he wakes up.

DuncinToffee · 24/06/2025 11:06

I wonder how many eyes rolled

US Ambassador to NATO Matthew Whitaker on Iran strikes: “President Trump has shown real leadership…hopefully we’ll see the region calm…perhaps a generational moment where the Middle East is more stable than it’s been for a while.”

It may prove to be a generational moment for sure.

Yup. He’s pissed off. I think he’s just realised he’s been played by Israel. This keeps happening to him with Putin too.

One thing that is a stand out.

🍊🌮 is flying to the Hague.

At least he can familiarise himself with the route of the flight...

JoshLymanSwagger · 24/06/2025 12:36

Generally a cease fire is between two countries who, y'know, agree to "stop" with the fighting.
Maybe the definition is different in his dictionary? Maybe it's something that, say, a third party tells other nations to do then they obey 🤷‍♀️
Can't see any problems with that.
Nope.

logicisall · 24/06/2025 12:41

Ever the diplomat in his language 🤨

RafaistheKingofClay · 24/06/2025 12:42

Well he’s sworn at them now so they should just fall into line.

President Trump on Israel and Iran: "We basically have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the fuck they’re doing."

But he's not wrong.
