Neighbour has built a pedastal for their bins

Hello lovely people

The title says it all really! The batshit crazy neighbours have spent 2 hrs, slaving away over a patch of weeds, to lay a broken slab for their Wheelie Bins.
They have a drive wide enough.for 2 cars to reverse up together, so lots of room for the bins, never a problem in the years we have lived here, bin out by the decaying railings every week, but now a lovely broken slab and a bin on proud display!
Now their bins have a Pedastal! DH wants to know what makes their bins special, DSIS wonders if our bins will become envious in some way!!!
Just wondered what other batshit things other peoples neighbours have done, that have made you go hmmm.

Hoik those judgy pants up a bit higher and go round and tell them ?

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 17/06/2025 16:57

We built a corner plot for our bins, they have paving slaps, a decorative surround and prime position on the corner.

Wonder what judgey comments you'd make about my bin?

Cosycover · 17/06/2025 17:05

My bins have their own special closed off fenced in space at the side of the house. With flowers and everything. Your neighbours need to up their game!

Arlanymor · 17/06/2025 17:06

I guess they are trying to tidy up their property a bit. Strong snark for something that doesn't remotely impact on you.

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 17/06/2025 17:06

My bins have a coffee machine in case they get thirsty. Or maybe they’re coffee addicts? I never asked them to be honest.

eone · 17/06/2025 17:07

If it doesn't impact your bins, politely, mind your own business

AwakeNotThruChoice · 17/06/2025 17:07

Mine are on slabs. As it’s easier to sweep the area. As sometimes bits fly out of the bins when they’re opened. We have 3 bins if you’re interested.

FruityCider · 17/06/2025 17:07

Their batshit neighbour has spent two hours staring at them weeding their garden and putting down a paving slab, then cared enough to write about it on the internet! You've got to feel for them.

FortyElephants · 17/06/2025 17:12

My bins also have broken paving slabs a pedestal to sit on. I didn't realise that was weird?

Annascaul · 17/06/2025 17:15

How on earth is it a pedestal, unless the paving slabs are 3 feet thick?

Spaghettihair · 17/06/2025 17:17

Creep out later and leave a little offering, maybe with a cone of incense

Whenwillyoumakemyphonering · 17/06/2025 17:17

Meant to add that this is no where near where their bins are kept. Just somewhere to roll it out to on bin day.

A grand? That’s one classy bin store 👏

MissMoneyFairy · 17/06/2025 17:21

Don't you or your dh have anything better to do than watch your neighbours for 2 hours, laugh at them and make snidey comments

You only have 3 bins, lucky you 😂

oncemoreuntothebeachdearfriends · 17/06/2025 17:32

I have 5 outdoor bins.

I considered building a little garage for them to keep them dry.

JustMyView13 · 17/06/2025 17:34

My bins are on their own exclusive section of patio, apart from the main patio area within a bin shed. Judge away 🤣

Much better than seeing them, and them sinking in the grass.

Delphiniumandlupins · 17/06/2025 17:39

We have 6 different colours of bins. They sit in a line by the garage. I think it's nice to make a fuss of the one out for collection, putting it on a pedestal so the binmen can see it. (Sometimes we have to put 2 bins out on the same day so we would need a double-sized pedestal.)

ginasevern · 17/06/2025 17:41

I feed my bin twice a day. He's vegan so it's a bit of a faff but still, he was drinking 2 bottles of wine a day and smoking 20 fags so I feel obliged to support this new healthy lifestyle.

Evvyjb · 17/06/2025 17:46

My neighbours must think we're bonkers. We're renovating and doing it ourselves. They have watched us

  • dig a new water mains in August
  • take out, restore and refit front windows
  • break up concrete and stack
  • move around HUGE piles of earth
  • (fall into excavated hole for water mains -me)
  • have total screaming rows about God knows what while covered in soil

House still looks unoccupied 😂

Your neighbours sound batshit. Why does a bin need to be on a pedestal??

I'd have been pulling up a chair and getting popcorn too. It's too hot to do anything else so why not?
OP can you update us on bin collection day when they have to retrieve their empty discarded battered bin from down the street?

MushMonster · 17/06/2025 18:16

A pedestal LOL
A bit of an exaggeration there!
You need a new hobby OP
My bins are very very deprived in comparisson to some of yours people of MN! A grand for a cosy housing!

Bluevelvetsofa · 17/06/2025 18:57

Our three bins are situated on patio slabs, behind a screen of photinias, to protect their privacy.

Surroundedbyfools · 17/06/2025 19:04

Why do you care ? What odds is it to you ?
