Also, is it just me that reads 2050 like it's the fuuuttture, complete with flying skateboards and a Jetson's cleaning robot, forgetting that I'll have just made it to pensioner age should one still exist and this is the gloomy landscape of my late life?

Haha love that 🤣
I've just worked out that I can retire in 2046. I'm knackered already. 😂 The cleaning robot sounds good though.

Agreed. It needs a re-think. The evidence for carbon capture just isn't there rn.

£22bn on carbon capture projects was announced not long after Labour announced that there was a £22bn black hole left by the tories. 🤔

Martin Lewis on good morning Britain has done a poll on the new isa rates ,people feel very strongly they don't want the limit changed.
He then had to go into complicated explanations of how to move the money and all the rules,
Labours talking head said " she's worrying people and there is a price to pay when you make people worry ".

From labours chief TV cheer leader !!

They are worrying everyone all the time what blinder is coming next

So true. That treading lightly on people’s lives was a nonsense pre GE wasn’t it

It’s the opposite. No wonder their approval rating is in the floor.

TwoTierBbq · 09/07/2025 09:18

Eastern , when Kevin Maguire is slating labour and telling them they are worrying people ,you know labour have got huge issues .

It will be Owen Jones next !!

EasternStandard · 09/07/2025 09:49

@TwoTierBbqthey do have massive issues. There’s still some strong Labour support on here. And yet the approval rating is incredibly low.

Arrearing50 · 09/07/2025 13:02

On Political currency, Osborne reckons Rayner is currently Kingmaker. I agree…I wonder how many people who voted labour thought that would happen so quickly. Streeting and Cooper both have better press than any of the rest but I’m not so sure Streeting hasn’t made significant mistakes that will catch up with him, soon.

Agree with GO. Rayner is machiavellian in the true sense of the word. I actually think she's an unstoppable force now. She's played a blinder with the rebellion and seems to have shifted the power base. Rayner is most definitely not stupid imo. Underestimate her at your peril I say.

Starmer appeared visibly and audibly weakened at PMQs today. The welfare bill is back in parliament this pm, there has already been another ammendment tabled. Labour are belly crawling to recess now. Such a mess of their own making.

Jones hates Starmer and Co. Always has. He hated Corbyn too until it became fashionable not to.

He is a twerp.

PlutoCat · 09/07/2025 14:53

The Speaker was very naughty today with his timing. 🤣

TwoTierBbq · 09/07/2025 15:09

@PlutoCat really ? Are they not left enough for him.?

I’ve avoided it. A PMQ Starmer non answer was just posted on another thread. If ever I feel less loathing I just have to read his level of jeering and omitting and I’m ok with whatever happens to him politically.

Are you ok with the speaker showing bias like that? I'm not. It also helps Reform.

Honestly, don't. I am not saying that because of my own political views. He is really a nasty piece of work.

I think they are trying to sneak this through, that Timms review is basically about making the changes whatever. Hmm.

Upstartled · 09/07/2025 17:05

Owen Jones is a complete cunt.

Arrearing50 · 09/07/2025 18:21

Did you see that Owen jones Jess Philips clash a few years back? Yes, he’s odious.

EasternStandard · 09/07/2025 20:06

I don’t really see much from Jones luckily. Maybe because I’m not on X

Just saw headline on ‘summer refresh’ for Labour.

How may resets is that now? Three?

Oh God, not another re-launch. I've lost count! I think it was 6 pledges in the last one?

Reminds me of when Ed Miliband was leader. Does anyone else remember that? He had his pledges carved into a whopping slab of stone. If he won the election, the stone would be erected in the downing street rose garden. The stone has since disappeared in mysterious circumstances 😂😂
