Just saw a photo - she does look awful. that’s a lot of stress…

Upstartled · 02/07/2025 12:50

I mean, I can feel sorry for her but who wants a Chancellor blubbing in the commons? It hardly inspires confidence.

Orangesandlemons77 · 02/07/2025 12:51

BBC reporting that Liz Kendall is hiding behind the Speaker's chair or something, it gets stranger

Starmer would not guarantee the chancellor's future when asked, and he spoke about her in the past tense. All while she was sat crying beside him. In her shoes, I would tell Starmer to FO and walk.

Same. Fuck him. He’s a bully.

What?? God, this isn't very professional.

EasternStandard · 02/07/2025 13:00

On another thread I saw this I reckon it sums up the dire mess

Kemi Badenoch:
She is a human shield for his incompetence

Arrearing50 · 02/07/2025 13:04

Yeah I’d walk too - it would be my brexit moment - don’t want to claw back the disaster without increased taxes? Ok, I’m off…are we about to see a lurch to the left?

the80sweregreat · 02/07/2025 13:07

I just wish they would call a general election.
People are unhappy, his party are unhappy and they have done so many u turns it’s embarrassing.
Lets start again and let the people decide if we want to keep going with a party that seems to be in chaos and we had this with the conservatives for years , but none of their party were crying on tv and they did stick to their guns or just replace the leaders, which isn’t much better I know.
( I’ve never voted conservative myself by the way )
Ive never known such shambles and I include all of them in this. It’s just all such a mess.

EasternStandard · 02/07/2025 13:10

There’s no way it’s worth it to Reeves to see this out. This is on the leader, his arrogance will see him push on.

the80sweregreat · 02/07/2025 13:13

I’ve a feeling she’ll be gone by tomorrow or try to spin their way out of it.

TheNuthatch · 02/07/2025 13:24

Spokesperson blaming personal reasons. I hope she resigns for her own sake. Then I hope she throws Starmer under the blame bus on her way out. Truss was responsible for her budget, Starmer is responsible for his.
His government.
His policies.
His arrogance.

Let him get on with it.

Yep same.

Tell him to shove it.

Bond markets spiking this morning.

Upstartled · 02/07/2025 13:27

Is the personal reasons that her boss has just thrown her under the bus in front of all her colleagues, and it was beamed across the nation?

EasternStandard · 02/07/2025 13:28

It’s just more lies so maddening.

Upstartled · 02/07/2025 13:36

I wonder who'll be the next chancellor then? I can't even begin to guess.

Good question.
Jonny Reynolds, Pat McFadden, Darren Jones, or Torsten Bell would be my best guesses.

I hope it's not Darren pocket money Jones.

EasternStandard · 02/07/2025 14:31

Starmer is the issue. Whoever it is he’ll still be bad.

Agreed. Perhaps her and Rosie could meet for a natter and cake..🍰

Upstartled · 02/07/2025 16:14

Apparently she had a row with Hoyle before PMQs.

Whatever the truth is, Reeves' position is completely untenable now imo.

OP posts:
EasternStandard · 02/07/2025 17:12

All that bluster. It must be hard to work with Starmer but every speech of hers had that typical Labour arrogance.

She has come undone, but it’s on Labour this stuff.

Elderflower14 · 02/07/2025 17:19

New to this thread but it makes me sick about Reeve crying.... She might want to save her tears for people like my ds2 who have been worried sick that their benefits are going to be cut. 😡 😡 😡 😡 😡

TheNuthatch · 02/07/2025 17:20

Ive just seen this on another thread. I dont know if any of you remember the debacle in the early days of this government over AZ? Labour refused to honour a commitment made by the tories. That decision has just come home to roost. The largest company in the UK is leaving.

AstraZeneca exit is a frightening prospect for the City and the government

Sky's James Sillars writes that a government, struggling for authority and prioritising economic growth, can not afford to allow the FTSE 100's biggest company to leave London in favour of New York.

Welcome.
Sorry to hear about your ds. Same for my dd.
No tears from Reeves for all those who have been damaged by this government's policies.
