It's disgusting

I'm sorting my front garden. Some children and their mum walked past. One of the kids said she's doing her garden to. The woman looked back at my garden and said its disgusting.

I'm a bit pissed of because she doesn't know my life what I have been through or how far i have come. But I also not overly pissed of because she doesn't knlw that.

But im also thinking why you judging something that's clearly not finished. That makes no sense what so ever.

But mostly why is she saying stuff like that to her children about other people.

Comments like that do shake us a bit

But OP just know you are a decent and well mannered member of society and for that we are grateful

let’s hope that dreadful woman’s DC are strong enough not to take on her negative nature

I think that was more what it was for me. Her saying it to her children . Oh well never mind.

If life has taught me one thing it's that the human capacity for arseholery knows no bounds. Take comfort in the fact that soon your garden will be looking fab but she'll still be a dick.

That's awful. I honestly don't understand people like that i mean what do they gain from it. Sounds like you have been through a hard time. And need a peaceful life. Can you put in for an exchange? I get that's easier saud than done though. Hope your OK.

It is probably their way of getting through a hideous existence. People who have a happy life full of deep connections with others have no need to be toxic. In this case reporting it to the local authority sounds appropriate. I don't care how old someone is, they don't have the right to abuse other people and they need to be confronted, as would be the case for anyone else engaging in that behaviour.

Ooh this rings a bell! My ex walked out of our marriage when our daughter was 12 - total shock. I had go from part time working Mum to FT and doing everything and I'm afraid the garden descended into chaos. Six months later we were out in the front starting to clear up when elderly neighbours walked by. "Your garden is a disgrace" said the husband and they walked on. I was totally gutted as I'd been really struggling and was proud of myself for getting out there. They moved away shortly afterwards but I never spoke to them again. My garden now is lovely - the best one in our road. I 🤔 his words spurred me on although they hurt at the time.

Edited

Things slip when life is hard and your taking on alot weather that physically mentally emotionally or all of them. Especially when your doing it alone I'm glad you feel proud of your garden now. And 2 fingers up to him. Least he's gone now

I’m with you there, bastards everywhere. Onwards and upwards OP. Enjoy your garden when you’ve done. 🌸🌸

Yeah, I’d guess a lot of trans people feel the same way…😀

@Steffie1993 what??

Puppypeewee · 31/05/2025 18:32

I remember me and my two sisters painting my front gate. An old man went past and said to my sisters, is that you helping your mum paint the gate. lol 😂 he must have been a bit blind.
But seriously that was rude saying that in front of you. Some folk don’t really care and I feel for the kids as most turn out like their parents .

Her gardens probably tidy and perfect though. Wish I had said something. But its not me really.

Her garden may well look immaculate, like she works on it for 6 hours a day with nail scissors... but I'd much rather have a messy garden than a perfect one and a nasty personality.

Snakeandladder · 31/05/2025 18:39

No in my head i decided she has an expensive gardener and it's all done for her.

But I wasnt really meant to type that because that kind of makes me judgemental to.

Some people are dicks. All you can do is parent your child better than she's doing hers

Keep going girl ❤️ - I left a house with a garden to go to a London flat - so happy as I found the garden so overwhelming and couldn't keep on top of it

Maybe the woman was just speaking the truth and it was disgusting. Better to teach kids to be truthful than lie?

Hmmm you’re entitled to your opinion. But it’s best not to bring up children to lie.

If she walked past today and said it. That would make sense. But not when it's looking like a building site . If someone was having a drive laid and it was in progress of being laid people wouldn't say it's disgusting.

It's also not best to bring your children up to be spiteful little brats but hey that's just my opinion 😀

Oh I’d agree with that. Bug being honest is important, appreciate that’s not important to some people.

Well, you could always keep your mouth shut, particularly when no one asked for your opinion. We are still discussing walking past a stranger’s home whilst they’re doing their best to sort their garden out, yes?

You’re clearly confusing ‘being honest’ with being a spiteful bitch.
