In Praise Of The Humble Figroll!

When I was a kid,I did like figrolls but tended to dismiss them as a “ healthy biscuit” along with digestives,Rich Tea, arrowroot etc. I love them as an adult ( if you get the right brands). So satisfying to eat & solid enough for a great dunk in your cuppa! Keep you regular too 🤣 Any figroll fans out there?

Nooooo, they are the worst biscuit out there

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2025 09:37

I love them.

Unfortunately due to a wheat intolerance the biscuit bit counteracts the fig bit Wink and I can’t eat them.

If I could find a GF version I’d be bulk ordering them. They are the BEST dunking biscuits

AsIsaidearlier · 28/05/2025 09:38

Yes I love them Someone said on the radio that they are an old persons biscuit.
I am old 😀

AsIsaidearlier · 28/05/2025 09:39

I keep worrying that they will stop making them as not everywhere sells them now.

Saisong · 28/05/2025 09:40

We're big lovers here. I buy 2 packs of the Sainsbury's version every week.

InvasiveSpecies · 28/05/2025 09:42

They are absolutely revolting. The biscuit part tastes stale and has a weird texture, and then there's that horrible squidge in the middle, as though something went in there and died, Revolting!

But I am a biscuit purist and like only Dove Farm wholemeal digestives and Lemon Puffs.

AdaColeman · 28/05/2025 10:28

Fig rolls and garibaldis were my Mother's favourite biscuits, so as a child they were our usual household biscuits.

Since then I've not bought them for myself, but inspired by this thread, I'm putting fig rolls on my shopping list for a taste of childhood, and of course a good dunk!

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/05/2025 10:30

🤢

Shesellsseashellsnotinmystreet · 28/05/2025 10:31

Omg me and ds 10 can demolish a whole packet!! Can't seem to find the original brand ones but the cheaper ones in a similar orange pack are still nice!

Yes. Which makes anyone, ever, thinking fig rolls are delicious even more baffling.

You can see the ad slogan now:

FIG ROLLS -- THE DELICIOUS SQUIDGE OF DEAD INSECTS

Love them! There was a time when I could demolish a whole packet in one sitting. Was there ever a comestible that looked so unpromising yet tasted so divine?

When DS was little they were a great cure for hangry attacks.

That’s amazing - thankyou so much!

I love to bake so will definitely try making my own!

AnneElliotfanclub · 28/05/2025 11:20

My absolute favourite along with garibaldis!

HollyGolightly4 · 28/05/2025 11:22

If @itsgettingweird is craving GF fig rolls, I would sell a limb for GF Lemon Puffs!

smallglassbottle · 28/05/2025 11:59

We love them, but they spike my blood sugar. Perhaps I could make homemade ones 🤔

RabbitsRock · 28/05/2025 15:16

Ooh haven’t had a garibaldi for years! Squashed fly biscuits 🤣

OP posts:
BearSoFair · 28/05/2025 15:18

YES they are the best biscuit! Maybe tied with Party Rings

BitOutOfPractice · 28/05/2025 15:19

Big fan of a fig roll in this house. I want one now.

TheProvincialLady · 28/05/2025 15:20

Fig rolls are the BEST biscuit. Followed by bourbon and garibaldi.

Sorry but lemons puffs are not biscuits. Biscuits do not puff.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 28/05/2025 15:21

They are the BEST biscuits! During a visit to the USA I discovered that they do apple ones too!

sandgreen · 28/05/2025 15:22

Love them!

ClaudeShowers · 28/05/2025 15:22

Ooh gorgeous! Those home baked ones look so good. Will have to buy some regular ones on my way home. They are what you eat when it’s not mince pie time. I do love dried fruit. Sliced apple with dates is one of my best snacks.
