Ugly passport photo (lighthearted)

Renewing my passport, and once again, boy do I hate how I look 😂
Used the online application but decided to get photo from booth just to be sure it was all good…once printed I knew they’re terrible just like the last few passports.
DD (aged 9), has happily told me I look creepy (also asked for the creepy shots to be hidden away)- I’m guessing it’s the dead eye glare 🤷🏽‍♀️😂
I also look about twice my age (self conscious now as to how I actually look compared to what I see in the mirror).

I’m beginning to wonder, am I the only one with this issue?

Every time I think, it’s ok, in 10 years time I’ll be able to change it! Here’s counting down the next 10 😂

I took a deliberately bad one so people say it doesn’t look like me. I look ill and annoyed in it

I’ve definitely got ‘ Myra hindley’ vibes with my drivers licence ! Luckily I don’t have to show it to anyone at all much. I bet whoever does the photo bit for these documents and cards have a bit of a giggle at some of them , Photo Booth photos etc are never great are they !
Best photo of me is my lanyard one for my job , I actually don’t look too bad. I love the lady who took that one!

Such a faff, mine are terrible, but they do look just like me after 12 hours in a cramped seat and terrible sleep deprivation.

I look like Picasso drew me in mine. I’m sure my features are even and quite normal when I look in the mirror 😂

The solution I’ve found is to wear three times as much make up as you usually would (maybe some more for good measure).

Also don’t tie your hair back, you want as much volume round your face as possible. I curled mine for my last passport photo. It’s all very “90s beauty queen” vibes, but I prefer that to the last one which was more “sad Victorian ghost”.

I’m pushing 60. At the stage where my eye sight is so bad I can’t see my face without glasses, therefore do not wear any makeup.

The pictures could be anyone really. When you think how much we change over the lifetime of the passport, hair colour, style, etc. My passport photo has me with shoulder length dark brown hair, I am now a light blonde with a pixie cut. Figure that one out! (I still look shit in the photo though).

I was also thinking, that with biometrics, fingerprints, and eGates, we might not have to show the damned photos to anyone soon!

I look like death warmed up in my photo. Fortunately, however, this is also exactly how I look and feel after a long haul flight, so it's probably quite effective in that regard!

I’d love to see some famous peoples passport photos… like The Beckhams, or JLo, or Pierce Brosnan… I wonder if they are just as hideous? Probably not.

I once had to get my photo done for my passport in the old fashion photo booths. I had been out partying all night... then in rained on my on the way there. Best photo of me ever. I look stunning! Passport control used to look at the picture then look at my real face in shock.

I paid a fortune to go to the booth in Morrisons, and spent ages to get photos that both met the criteria and looked vaguely ok on the preview - only to discover some utter knobhead had marked the lens with permanent marker somehow and the actual printed photos gave me a mole on my cheek.

Ahh! The celebs and the Royals probably hire a special photographer with special filters to come to their mansions with those big silver umbrellas they had for school photos back in the day 😂 ( do they still exist ?)
I bet their ones have special treatments !
I can’t imagine the Beckhams in a Photo Booth at the post office with Mr Goggins behind the desk sorting them out !

And like I have a giant cold sore (I don't).

You are supposed to look ugly in a passport photo. It is a legal requirement. If you look even remotely attractive in a passport photo, you are not allowed to travel 😀.

funny I should see this thread! I’m in the process of renewing mine. Was on my own in the office last week so stood up against a white wall to get a pic - I had a cry when I got home that night!! I couldn’t believe how unsymmetrical I am. My mouth is uneven, my chin, my jaw, a lazy eye, my eyebrows weren’t even. And it made me realise my glasses don’t suit me! Tried a few pics with my glasses off and it was worse.

I agree with PP having your hair back makes it worse. I’m waiting until I have mine down next week with some volume, going to even up my brows and wear my old glasses, and go into a photo shop to get it done.

And then next on the list will be lip filler!!!

Worst one was my first one , a blue passport in 1984. It was just hideous , but Photo Booth pics were expensive! I should have just done them again really.

When I was 14 I had a dreadful one, I also had a shadow that gave the impression of a beard…one of my cousins laughed so hard at that; goodness I hated that one so much! i was surprised how I had the shadow show on passport when the actual printouts looked ‘ok’ 🤷🏽‍♀️

I have a particularly egregious example of this:

The day I got the my pp pics done, I went to the optician's first, and then snappy snaps. Unfortunately, ive had eye problems before, so my optician dilated my pupil to look at the retina.

If your pupil cant contract in response to bright light, like a camera flash, you get the 'red-eyes' effect in photos.

If only one of your pupils can contract - like mine on he day - you get a passport photo that looks like Arnie in Terminator. 😫😫😂

Got my pics done at a booth in the Post Office. When they came out of the slot I let out an inadvertent howl. They were so awful. I looked like Myra Hindley’s ugly Nana.

Took my application, fee & the strip of photos to the desk to be checked. The assistant looked at them, looked at me & said (we’re northern btw) “Eeh pet you’re going to have this passport for 10years. Why don’t you go to Timpsons & get some more done.” It was a bit blunt but she was right of course. I did & they were soooooo much better.

I still have the awful ones & still can’t believe how shocking I looked.

I look like a matriarch at the head of a drug smuggling empire in mine. Dd who was 3 at time she had hers done looks like a scamming 20 year old pretending to be 5 who I’m employing as my drug mule 😂

Im renewing them all shortly so ill make sure we all look half decent!

Mine is enough of a likeness to worry me that any day the photo will appear on the front page of the Daily Fail with the headline 'Hang this bitch now', and people will know it's me.
