Ugly passport photo (lighthearted)

Renewing my passport, and once again, boy do I hate how I look 😂
Used the online application but decided to get photo from booth just to be sure it was all good…once printed I knew they’re terrible just like the last few passports.
DD (aged 9), has happily told me I look creepy (also asked for the creepy shots to be hidden away)- I’m guessing it’s the dead eye glare 🤷🏽‍♀️😂
I also look about twice my age (self conscious now as to how I actually look compared to what I see in the mirror).

I’m beginning to wonder, am I the only one with this issue?

Every time I think, it’s ok, in 10 years time I’ll be able to change it! Here’s counting down the next 10 😂

Good Lord, me too. I look like a man dressed up as a middle aged, very tired woman.

I look like my dad in a bad wig!! And not my dad at my age.... him now!!

the80sweregreat · 22/05/2025 06:28

My driving license photo makes me look like a serial killer :(

WhatMe123 · 22/05/2025 06:31

Mine looks like a serial killer mug shot 😂😂😂 my initial photo last time was rejected and they said I had to send a photo with no smile at all in....fine so they got serial killer instead 🙈😂😂😂😂😂

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 22/05/2025 06:35

Looking at my passport photo makes me think of how awful i look when i’m at the hairdressers.
With the gown on, and looking at my face for 30 minutes, I always ponder: is this what i look like in everyday life??
Do my colleagues see this face??

Thickasabrick89 · 22/05/2025 06:40

I sometimes look at passport photos for my job. Can't be as bad as the one i saw of a man who was topless in his!!!!!!!

Missey85 · 22/05/2025 06:40

I have purple hair in mine! 😊 It's all faded brown now so sometimes they won't accept it as ID

sciaticafanatica · 22/05/2025 06:42

Mine looks like a wanted poster

CeciliaMars · 22/05/2025 06:44

I looked like Pat Butcher in mine. I’m 46.

LuckyShark · 22/05/2025 06:44

I HAD to get mine done...no time.
No hair colour, bad eyebrows, full face of make up. I look like Im on my way to be processed for life in prison.

And i had to use the same for my driving licence😫

Im not sure im going to be allowed to step foot in the country im visiting....i just look so sinister/ like im now in disguise

Zanatdy · 22/05/2025 07:00

My daughter took mine against the living room wall, first one was accepted, happy days. No need to pay now for a professional one.

Fizbosshoes · 22/05/2025 07:14

I thought it was compulsory to look like a convict/serial killer in passport photos?
I got DD to take mine with a phone but there was a limit she would be willing to take and was accepted by the app so I had to settle for looking about 70. (I'm mid 40s)
Tbf I looked OK in my previous photo but most have been dreadful

Smartiepants79 · 22/05/2025 07:17

Mine is awful. I look about 10 years older and like I’ve just been released from prison.
I was so annoyed as the one I had before it was actually pretty flattering.

Ironfloor269 · 22/05/2025 07:41

In my passport photo, I look like Rose West with the expression of Myra Hindley.

SingtotheCat · 22/05/2025 08:17

My passport photo makes me look like a trans woman featured in the news for an offence.

Whorl · 22/05/2025 08:20

I think it's pretty standard to look like a serial killer on passport photos.

I'm more concerned by people who make the effort to look good, for a photo that's glanced at a few times a year by a bored immigration official who's seen thousands that day already.

GoblinMarkets · 22/05/2025 08:24

StrikeForever · 21/05/2025 23:59

I look that a particularly rough inmate from Prisoner Cell Block H in mine 🤦‍♀️

In my various passport photos down the years, I morph between this and ‘Ageing dead-eyed hijacker’. It’s not pretty.

Beeinalily · 22/05/2025 08:33

I look really bloody fierce. I wouldn't want to meet me in a dark alley! Backstory is that I was trying to quickly get the photo done in a booth before my shift started and about the first 10 tries were deemed unsuitable (but at least it lets you know so you don't pay for them.). Thing is I've retired now, so I have that mean looking face on my bus pass!

DS previous passport was done during lockdown, when he was 11, with a dreadful lockdown home haircut (ahem!Blush)
Fast forward to travelling last year with DS when he had grown 8" since the pic, obviously looks v different, and styles his hair every day. The passport person smirked and said, "you've changed a bit!" 😃

Beeinalily · 22/05/2025 08:37

Incidentally my very kind and mild mannered son looks extraordinarily like Charles Manson in his. (Spell check tried to change that to Charles Hawtrey, different vibe altogether)!

NoTimeToThinkOfUsername · 22/05/2025 08:38

These have made me giggle (and feel better!)

Agree with the posters saying you’re supposed to look like a serial killer; mine is a cross between serial killer, a rabbit in headlights and about 20 years older… all in all terrible photo

Just using a bog standard iPhone by the way

And I took DH's passport photo just using a bog standard Android phone 😁

Deathraystare · 22/05/2025 10:01

Poor mum always looked like Myra Hindley in hers but she hated being photographed anyway!

I always looked quite glam in mine but the last one.. I was in a rush on a very hot day. I scraped my hair back and as I was passing the photograph shop I thought I would get it done. I looked like a greasy Victorian cook! Mrs Patmore (Downton Abbey cook) is a real glamour girl compared to me!!!!

I suppose I could have done it again but I was sitting there mopping my face!

MissScarletInTheBallroom · 22/05/2025 10:05

NoTimeToThinkOfUsername · 21/05/2025 23:57

Yes! But I thought it might be safer to get it done (it would probably have turned out as bad if done at home too 😂)
maybe next time I’ll save myself the hassle and take it at home 😁

The advantage of doing it at home is that you can take as many photos as you like until you get one that is acceptable.

the80sweregreat · 22/05/2025 11:55

I have to get a new passport and dreading the photo bit! Always look bad in any photos

Yup and me. I had to renew my passport last year. I was so happy to lose the old one. It was spectacularly awful. It was taken when my children were toddlers. I was sleep deprived and had a really stupid haircut - it was meant to be a pixie but with my thick hair and square head, it looked more like kind of First Lady on a day when no-one helped her style it. I was 32 but looked like a 54 year old man in drag.

On my new passport photo, there is a very slight shadow across the lower part of my face that looks a bit like a designer beard. But it's still gorgeous compared to my old picture!
