How much do you pay monthly for water?

3 bed house, 2 adults and 1 year old
2 showers / day (5-10 mins long)
1 very shallow bath every other day
dishwasher 2-3 times / week (quick cycle)
washing machine once per day (1hr cycle)

we’ve had our 6 monthly bill through for £90 a month going forward. Is that the norm for most households or do we have a leak/use lots of water? Currently paying £70 a month…

4 bed detached cottage, 4 double bedrooms 2 bathrooms. Shower each day 4 adults.

£221. Supply only

arethereanyleftatall · 19/05/2025 12:18

£10

because I have a cess pit so don’t have to pay much

the cesspit has only cost me £150 about once every 6 years, never needed as it sorts itself out, but I understand you’re supposed to do it

Gizlotsmum · 19/05/2025 12:21

Are you on a water meter? Doesn’t sound horrifically unreasonable for that level of usage

Single, two bed apartment, water the garden with a hosepipe daily at the moment.
My bill is £83 a month, used to be £57.

Spanador · 19/05/2025 12:28

Two people and a dog that's always muddy. One bed flat, shower every day and run baths a couple of times a week but don't have a dishwasher. We pay £24 a month

Olika · 19/05/2025 12:30

I wish ours was that low. Our last bill was over £200.

Meadowfinch · 19/05/2025 12:30

4 bed house, two adults

£260 a year, so £22 a month. We have an odd system where one water co. supplies water and a different co. handles waste water/sewage, so that's both bills added together.

We have a grey water recycling system for washing cars and watering the garden.

FluffyPinkFlamingo · 19/05/2025 12:33

1 adult in a 1 bed house - 1 shower per day and 2/3 loads of washing per week = £59.65 per month.

Im hopefully having a water meter fitted soon so bills should go down.

We are on a water meter.

Mikart · 19/05/2025 13:09

I feel like I need to switch to a water meter reading these.

DuckDuckJuice · 19/05/2025 13:37

me and two teens, one soap dodger
£48 i give meter reading every month- it was £78 before i started doing this

MiddleAgedDread · 19/05/2025 13:39

it depends if you're on a water meter or not.......

VeryQuaintIrene · 19/05/2025 14:03

50 a month for a flat where I don't even live half the year and they claim that a meter can't be installed. The sooner Thames Water is liquidated (ha!) and given to more competent people, the better.

blobby10 · 19/05/2025 14:18

Just gone up to £43 per month from £35, no dishwasher, washing machine on 5 or maybe 6 times a week for 2 adults, one shower occasionally two showers a day each.

Biomic · 19/05/2025 14:20

4 beds, two adults, two teens, soap dodging tween and mud loving dog £80 per month on a meter. Was £50 in previous house which was not metered.

bigdecisionstomake · 19/05/2025 14:24

Midlands. 3 adults who take 4 showers a day between them. Dishwasher on every day and washing machine on every day and twice a day at weekends. Small garden but water it daily during spring and summer when weather is hot and dry. £68 per month metered.

Wildywondrous · 19/05/2025 14:26

3 adults, 2 kids, run a dog grooming business from home so wash a lot of dogs each week plus several loads of washing, watering the garden etc

On a meter and pay £41

Pawtucketbrew · 19/05/2025 14:31

Wow. These are high. I pay about £20 month. Me and DD in two bed modern house with two bathrooms. Daily shower and washing machine a couple of times a week.

distinctpossibility · 19/05/2025 14:40

£55 a month metered for a family of 6. Probably 20 showers and 4 baths a week between us. 8 or 10 loads of washing a week, 8 or 10 dishwasher cycles. Paddling pool etc in the summer.
