Neighbour shagging loudly, I banged on the wall

And am now feeling a bit mortified.

We only moved in 6 months ago and this has been a very regular occourance. Always around 2/3am and loud enough to wake me up! I can't hear her husband, just her.

I always just put white noise on my phone and try and blocknit out but last night I just lost it. I had my DD in my room with me as both she and I were ill. She is 6 and had a temperature. She asked me what that noise is, I couldnt put music on as DD had a headache.

She got up to have a wee, again asking what the noise was and whilst she was out of the room I got the broom and banged loudly on the wall. I just felt so ill and was annoyed tbh.

She stopped immediately.
The thing is she has 2 small children too so I don't know how she is comfortable being so loud??

But now I'm dreading bumping into her, she knows it was me.

Ive lived in flats and terraced housing my whole life so am used to noise but shes honestly so loud, not at any other time, just during sex!

Part of me is mortified I did it butnpart of me is hoping she is too and I don't have to listen to her again!

Maybe get some scorecards?? I would be annoyed too tbh especially when you feel ill x

Pancakeflipper · 16/05/2025 14:23

I'm stuck on the you "got the broom".

Do you take one to bed with you or did you get up, go downstairs, go in the broom cupboard and take it upstairs.

Noodleit · 16/05/2025 14:23

She’ll be the one dreading bumping in to you surely

TheMumEdit · 16/05/2025 14:24

To be that loud is mortifying. I’ve never heard my neighbours at it but can hear them up and down the stairs. Now they know you can hear hopefully it calms down.

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 16/05/2025 14:26

You should hear the bloke who lives above me.
He makes extremely loud growling/howling noises like a wounded animal.
In person, he's a miserable looking wretch and carries a man bag.

Starlight7080 · 16/05/2025 14:26

I would have done the same. So selfish and just not needed . Plus her kids don't need to be hearing it.
If she ever mentions it I would just be honest and say you wake my kids up .

SleeplessInWherever · 16/05/2025 14:27

This is hilarious 😂

Good for you! I think she’ll quieten down now.

Please do explain the broom 😂

purplecorkheart · 16/05/2025 14:27

I doubt she will mention it when she next runs into you. If she does just calmy explain that you had your daughter in your room and it was disturbing you both. Hopefully she will not say anything and just be more mindful. She may not be aware how loud she is.

No it was already in my room, Id swept the floors before putting the blow up bed up for DD
Weird thing to get stuck on from the whole post

It’s so gross having to listen to your neighbours having sex, especially when it’s loud and vocal (and your neighbours are really manky). You’re braver than me, I just use to slam doors and let myself be heard. 😄

I just looked round the room for something I could bang with 😅 (the irony)

Do it back next time, think the cringiest sex noises you can and do it back. That’ll fix it 😂

Its been 6 months of ignoring it though. I never thought I would do that, I think it was the combination of feeling really sick and being woken up along with DD acknowledging it.

Im usually very non confrontational!

You were absolutely right. Don’t be at all embarrassed. If she wants to be noisy in the middle of the night she should sound proof. Now she knows you can hear her, it’s on her to sort it.

Openthisdoor · 16/05/2025 14:38

@SallyRey there are times when you just get pushed too far- I think you did the right thing and hopefully it will make her think next time.

TheLimeQuail · 16/05/2025 14:41

If you can’t face her post a letter through her door

Olika · 16/05/2025 14:46

This made me giggle. Well done! Don’t feel mortified, nobody needs waking up by ott sex noises on regular basis.

Good for you! She's the one who should be embarrassed. Hope you both feel better soon.

ForkyDorky · 16/05/2025 14:57

Honestly she will be mortified. Remind yourself of that. It wasn’t you howling!

my neighbours are the same every Wednesday night. Even the headboard batters the wall. I mean… it doesn’t last long bless

GoKatForDinner · 16/05/2025 15:00

Why do women feel the need to make so much noise? I'm sure it's as a result of porn films.

That doesn't really answer your question, though. Like another poster said, she's the one who should feel embarrassed not you.

It is very porn sounding!
