New house! Gorgeous
but I’m still sad I didn’t get the London house. This one I’m not so sure about not that I’ve much chance of winning!

It reminds me a bit of the first Norfolk one, Bliss Blakeney - which I’m still not over not winning - but the location and general busyness of the area doesn’t work for me, nor does a pebbly beach. But it’s a stonking charity, and they’ll get a few extra entries from me for that alone.

Agree. My Grandmother had MND and it is such a devastating condition, her mind was ferociously agile till the end but she was absolutely unable to move. So cruel.

ThePoshUns · 15/05/2025 13:02

Yes I think the worst disease you can have. A young mum in my son’s class died of it. So incredibly cruel.

ShyMaryEllen · 15/05/2025 13:06

All that glass! I get that a sea view is fabulous, but seagull-crap on the windows is less so.

This is far from my favourite so far. I much prefer the older ones, too, and Sussex is a long way from home, so I would have a big holiday there and sell up.

Sandgate House, East Preston
There is a video of the property before it had the Omaze makeover

Ziferblat · 15/05/2025 17:22

Sold for £825k in 2012!! I thought my valuation of £2.5m was a bit of a low ball one but maybe not…

I'm guessing that was before a lot of work was done though?

But yes, I'm very sure this is overvalued.

DinoLil · 15/05/2025 18:08

Hahaha!!! Google Littlehampton, Clymping (or Climping), Rustington, East Preston, Ferring...
I've moved away from there. It's gone from villages to a joined up commuter belt. The roads used to be a pain but, now, its one traffic jam. All the time.
Omaze, really??? Have you actually tried to use the A27???

It was very different in 2012. There was a major reconfiguration project on the property a few years ago.

I love that stretch of coastline! I might actually enter the competition for the first time ever …

Roselilly36 · 15/05/2025 18:40

Sussex traffic is an absolute nightmare, that would put me off tbh.

I actually needed that London house 😔
I also have a subscription but I don't check it and I am suspicious that they only choose winners easy to 'surprise' on film (I'm sure I remember someone saying they 'screen' winners somehow?

shame, it was lovely and I’d walked past it a couple of months ago without even realising.

"Sun-soaked Sussex shoreline" 😆Top marks for alliteration, not so much for accuracy.

It’s pretty much the sunniest part of the UK.

It’s right on the beach. They really do have £3 million to £4 million price tags.

SmallSoupcon · 15/05/2025 18:57

East Preston is very posh. Not the easiest place to travel to and from, that whole stretch of the A259 has become a traffic black spot, but a gorgeous house and location nonetheless!

WoodlandFlowers · 15/05/2025 19:12

I’m very happy as this is running distance to my parents house! Wont have to stay in hotels when we visit them any more

NewAgeNewMe · 16/05/2025 06:35

Omaze had buy combined Cotswold and Sussex tickets so I have. On reflection I think I’d prefer the Cotswold one.

Would you care to share your super sleuth skills with us @DarenP ? How did you work out exactly where it was?

Not sure about @DarenP , but I found it from the local train station that was mentioned in the Omaze listing.

sakuraspring · 17/05/2025 12:45

Vaguely exciting news.... (Unless it's already been shared up thread)... I got bored and had a Rightmove browse and I think the property next door to the omaze house is for sale....

Sorry, I would share a link instead of a photo but my phone is being weird!

It does look like it’s next door - suspect it’s a strong candidate for being knocked down and rebuilt.

Link here

Agreed re rebuild! And thank you for linking!

Bit stressed now about how long I am going to have building noise when I move in to the omaze house Grin

NewAgeNewMe · 17/05/2025 18:29

Thank you for the link. £1.4 for a house that needs refurbishment.

I think you’re essentially buying a front line plot on which to build your contemporary concrete and glass box.

It’s an interesting section of coast though - between there and the Witterings (popular with the big names) there’s a real mix of properties. I like to spot the ones that are still converted old railway carriages.

ArtemisiaTheArtist · 17/05/2025 21:24

I was gutted I didn’t win the London house. I was going to sell it to buy two houses, one for me & one for my daughter. She was going to get lodgers in. We had it all planned. Congratulations to the winner. 🤨

I wasn’t a fan of the last Cotswolds house. Not the same magic.

I’m thinking how much maintenance that house in Sussex will need. Seaside houses always do. Is it a flood risk?

According to the Gov flood risk website it’s not a sea flood risk.

I’d suspect that the beach in front might get a good scouring in a big storm though.
