He held my hand!

My little boy has profound disabilities. He functions well below his chronological age in all areas, is pre-verbal, he smiles at my voice but not if I smile as he's registered blind. Today, at the age of five (almost) and for the first time ever, he held my hand! His grasp reflex has always been absent due to cerebral palsy and his hands are usually tightly fisted with his thumb tucked in but more and more just lately he's been opening his hands and trying to explore things. Just now I opened his hand to clean his palm and he gripped my hand. Tightly. It was such a moment I took a photo to show his therapists and teachers.

Yeah!!!!!! Congratulations!!! It’s such an amazing feeling. I remember DC1 eventually learning to slurp spaghetti after years of me showing and him laughing at it. I think I posted on Mumsnet too!

I am so happy for you. Tears in my eyes.
