He held my hand!

My little boy has profound disabilities. He functions well below his chronological age in all areas, is pre-verbal, he smiles at my voice but not if I smile as he's registered blind. Today, at the age of five (almost) and for the first time ever, he held my hand! His grasp reflex has always been absent due to cerebral palsy and his hands are usually tightly fisted with his thumb tucked in but more and more just lately he's been opening his hands and trying to explore things. Just now I opened his hand to clean his palm and he gripped my hand. Tightly. It was such a moment I took a photo to show his therapists and teachers.

So pleased for you and a timely reminder to celebrate these things. Brings a tear to my eye!

Nobody can tell you that life will ever get easier but enjoying these small moments brings joy as does sharing them with random menopausal ladies!

I’m delighted for the wee fellow and for you, hope he continues to make ‘inch stones’ ❤️

He recognises that you love him and is reciprocating 🥰

What a wonderful thing for you. He is showing he is relaxed with you and trusts you.

Do you have massaging sessions? If that has not been possible until now, and he is showing his love and confidence in you, perhaps massage sessions will give him more feeling of security?

I admire you. What you are doing is helping one who cannot help themselves - and succeeding.
