This statement encapsulates the dissonance between the two parallel universes into which things Trumpy/right-wing, and things Democrat/left-wing, are currently divided by commentators.
Trump's own statement above is untrue (stage 9
). His own statements on a daily basis are untrue and have been since his first term – he lies about his height, call to Mexican president, having said or not said things, ever knowing people, sexual assault... constant obvious stupid lies with no attempt to hide them. He has been needing "executive time" every afternoon since his first term. He doesn't just lie, he is publicly cognitively declining (country of Mattel, rambles about groceries) and shows no self-awareness of this (ramble 4 years ago about how he was the Best at cognitive test).
Commentators: All this is fine! Yay, Donald! Another 4 years please!
Biden was fine at the beginning of his presidency, and by the end although visibly tiring was still able to self-correct when he tripped up and misspoke. He's
just been diagnosed with cancer.
Commentators: create cottage industry publishing books wringing hands that it's all shocking deceit and the American public will never accept (suspected) dishonesty.

Trump inciting an insurrection after he lost an election = just fine.
Biden choosing to withdraw from the race before the election = "dragged kicking and screaming from the White House."
Don't get me wrong: it's perfectly normal to have books analysing a presidency afterwards, and there may well turn out to have been some minimisation about Biden's health.
But it's an interesting juxtaposition of the hand-wringing about one person, with the sane-washing of the other. A florid liar currently spending his time as POTUS getting into social media spats with professional singers? Nope, nothing to see here.
