Idiotam habemus - Trumpum the Bigly XXX - Trump thread #143

No grey smoke necessary.

First 100 days have come and gone. Vance has killed the Pope, Musk is melting away and Trump's tariffs are on a slow boat to China.

Coming soon... Bigly's Birthday Parade. What could possibly go wrong?

The fact that Putin is calling Trump, taking a short break from a visit to a music school, smack of a quick call to keep the pot boiling, while he focuses on more important stuff. Been there/ done that. The quick call from my kid’s school while I’m there to watch some music recital. Bit disrespectful and probably purposeful.

Watching the meltdown over the EU deal and the way the right is jumping on it with disinformation and lies with a real feeling of foreboding.

Let's not forget Gaza either.

“We don’t have a policy on Palestine,” Mike Casey, the state department’s former deputy political counselor on Gaza, told the Guardian in December. “We just do what the Israelis want us to do.”

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/may/19/office-of-palestinian-affairs-closed

Instead, the department will operate under the US ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, who has openly dismissed Palestinian identity, once stating: “There’s really no such thing as a Palestinian.”

US closes Office of Palestinian Affairs, dedicated channel to Washington

Closure reflects Trump’s downgrading of US-Palestinian relations, which started with closure of Jerusalem consulate

Unfortunately, my instinctive but unhelpful response when I see people spouting similar claptrap is to say to myself (usually resisting commenting aloud or in response to a post) “you can’t argue with stupid”. At the same time, I’m horrified that there is still so much stupid.

Excellent interview in my local rag with a pissed off with Starmer fisherman who’s so upset with the deal with the EU and the red tape he’s leaving the country to go to …

Spain.

Just had a thought, it’s not going to be long before the quacks in the department of health start talking about Biden, turbo cancer and the covid jab, is it?

MigsandTiggs · 19/05/2025 20:26

We need to keep our eyes on everything happening as Trump's trade wars and his 'help' to settle the Gaza and Ukraine conflicts remind us that the US is an unreliable ally. China continues to forge its own path to world dominance with the launch of a high altitude aircraft that can release 100 drones.

Have we heard yet from Trump's Minister for Health or whatever his title is? I'm sure former President Biden would welcome the opinion of an uninformed fool and conspiracy theorist to boot who now holds the health of his nation in his sticky paws.

MsJinks · 19/05/2025 22:37

Two Brexity people I have met in real life - one living illegally in Spain, one thinking of retiring and buying land in Bulgaria. I have as much understanding of this as I have of the meaning of the universe.

DuncinToffee · 19/05/2025 22:46

It didn't take long

Trump on Biden's cancer diagnosis: "I'm surprised the public wasn't notified a long time ago because to get to stage 9, that's a long time...If you take a look, it's the same doctor that said Joe is cognitively fine...Somebody is not telling the facts."

RafaistheKingofClay · 19/05/2025 23:35

It must be really aggressive. It started off at stage 4, was 5 by the time Don Jnr waged in and now it’s stage 9. It’s ok progressed 5 stages in 24hrs and stages 5-9 in cancer staging didn’t even exist yesterday as far as I’m aware.

This statement encapsulates the dissonance between the two parallel universes into which things Trumpy/right-wing, and things Democrat/left-wing, are currently divided by commentators.

Trump's own statement above is untrue (stage 9Hmm). His own statements on a daily basis are untrue and have been since his first term – he lies about his height, call to Mexican president, having said or not said things, ever knowing people, sexual assault... constant obvious stupid lies with no attempt to hide them. He has been needing "executive time" every afternoon since his first term. He doesn't just lie, he is publicly cognitively declining (country of Mattel, rambles about groceries) and shows no self-awareness of this (ramble 4 years ago about how he was the Best at cognitive test).

Commentators: All this is fine! Yay, Donald! Another 4 years please!

Biden was fine at the beginning of his presidency, and by the end although visibly tiring was still able to self-correct when he tripped up and misspoke. He's
just been diagnosed with cancer.

Commentators: create cottage industry publishing books wringing hands that it's all shocking deceit and the American public will never accept (suspected) dishonesty.

See also:
Trump inciting an insurrection after he lost an election = just fine.
Biden choosing to withdraw from the race before the election = "dragged kicking and screaming from the White House."

Don't get me wrong: it's perfectly normal to have books analysing a presidency afterwards, and there may well turn out to have been some minimisation about Biden's health.

But it's an interesting juxtaposition of the hand-wringing about one person, with the sane-washing of the other. A florid liar currently spending his time as POTUS getting into social media spats with professional singers? Nope, nothing to see here.

Serpentstooth · 20/05/2025 08:01

I think I'm still asleep and dreaming? Trump supporters are whinging that they weren't told about the state of Biden's health? The party which has foisted the obviously cognitively impaired current Emperor Bigly on their nation is calling for more honesty about a President's health? Someone please wake me up.

A possible bigly reason behind the insistence on owning Greenland. Will the US clean up the abandoned nuclear waste tho?

https://www.sciencealert.com/nasa-discovers-secret-army-base-buried-under-decades-of-ice

Interesting and worrying (and not necessarily in that order)

I wouldn't be surprised if Drumpf had been told about this secret base and has decided that he wants to complete what they started rather than 'clean it up'. Bigger and better and more beautiful, natch.

Wallaw · 20/05/2025 11:55

Is there such thing as stage 9 cancer? Although Trump, as a cancer on the nation and humanity, is definitely over stage 9, so maybe there is.

Hugs and good thoughts to all those on the thread dealing with cancer or whose friends and loved ones are battling. One of my children has been through treatment - fortunately for a type that is essentially curable - and it's absolutely gruelling even with a best case prognosis.

SerendipityJane · 20/05/2025 12:04

Is there such thing as stage 9 cancer?

There is now.

As hordes of low energy thinkers start infecting the internet discussing "stage 9 cancer" our AI overlords are faithfully hoovering up all that lovely data (remember LLMs scrape their data from forums, news sites, inter and intra platform messaging and anywhere else they can get it).

This means that even as I type" "Stage 8 cancer" is being folded into the pudding mix of "knowledge" such as is the internet. Eventually, the algorithm will
go "Do you know what ? Stage 9 cancer must be a thing as everyone is talking about it.".

Admittedly this is a gross simplification. However it shows that at their heart, all LLMs are basically over specced wisdom of crowds engines.

Igotjelly · 20/05/2025 12:26

To be fair isn’t the stage 9 actually in relation to his Gleason score which tracks the progress of prostate cancer?

Igotjelly · 20/05/2025 12:27

I think his cancer is a stage 4 (or 5) meaning metastasised, with a Gleason score of 9.

Yes, but as usual, Glomp managed to mangle fact into gibberish, which of course suits his narrative.

let us not forget Sir James Ratcliffe of Ineos. An ardent Brexit supporter who immediately moved to Monaco where he doesnt pay literally billions in tax and now enjoys life in the Euro tax haven
