Idiotam habemus - Trumpum the Bigly XXX - Trump thread #143

No grey smoke necessary.

First 100 days have come and gone. Vance has killed the Pope, Musk is melting away and Trump's tariffs are on a slow boat to China.

Coming soon... Bigly's Birthday Parade. What could possibly go wrong?

He can fuck off if he thinks the jam goes first.

I reckon his plan is to make everyone put the cream and the jam in a pot, stir, then apply the mixture to the scone.

BTW my position on the cream/jam debate is 'don't care as long as there is plenty of both'. I know I'm a heretic, I plead foreignity.

RafaistheKingofClay · 10/05/2025 18:13

We’re going to have to fight on that if you ever come down to Devon.

I really want a cream tea now.

DuncinToffee · 10/05/2025 18:15

I stand with Pointy, I don't care either way as long as it not strawberry jam

I'm a little less strict than that, but the jam has to be red.

heldinadream · 10/05/2025 18:41

Apricot jam or black cherry jam, Bonne Maman. Cream first (ducks behind nearest parapet). 😂

BestIsWest · 10/05/2025 18:42

Cornish ancestry here, jam first.

AcrossthePond55 · 10/05/2025 19:03

Bonne Maman Peach, jam first.

My brother just got back from visiting the UK and went to the place in Cornwall our grandparents came from. He said all that's there is a church but he was absolutely amazed at the number of graves of people with our last name. It's an unusual name here other than the few remaining descendants (like us) of Cornish miners in our immediate area, but it's a common one still in that area of Cornwall.

Devonian grandfather here, cream first, fresh home-made lemon curd on top.

UName38 · 10/05/2025 19:36

Heathen here - no cream, butter or butter and jam or my favourite warm scone has nothing on it.

littledrummergirls · 10/05/2025 21:09

Jam first for me.

Dd is a heathen- Jam on one half, cream on the other and put them together to eat like a sandwich

PickAChew · 10/05/2025 21:11

I'm the miserable one with me cup of herbal tea, in the corner, as I'm gluten and lactose intolerant and don't particularly enjoy the jam on its own and don't fancy the miserable pre-packaged alternative.

My DD1 makes beautiful GF scones - a holdover from the days when DS had to eat GF. Weirdly is intolerance just resolved spontaneously, though it was serious. We knew it wasn't coeliac, he was tested, it was just one of those weird things.

I make GF cakes for our local cat rescue fundraisers because I know (by proxy) the pain of crappy baked goods as provided in most places.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 10/05/2025 21:21

I don't care where the cream is so long as it's not on what Sweden calls an English scone. For the love of jam will someone please explain sugar to them.

My mother’s maiden name is like that. Quite unusual and unheard of where we live but she came across loads of them around St Just.

MigsandTiggs · 10/05/2025 22:17

Don't kill me please, but the only scone worth having is an unbuttered, mature cheddar one. There, fixed the cream and jam positioning issue. 😅

DuncinToffee · 10/05/2025 22:19

Oh yes, mature cheddar scones are delicious, with butter for me though

Errolwasahero · 10/05/2025 22:28

@PickAChew I’ll sit with you and we can feel smug in our healthy ‘choices’ 😎

Spandauer · 10/05/2025 22:39

Emmet here but I go Cornish for scones - jam first then cream. 😋

Celiac here. I'm lucky in that there are a couple of really great GF bakeries near me. One of them also does gf/df.

Whole Foods used to have an excellent line of GF baked goods with the best scone I had since I was diagnosed. They dumped the line when Amazon bought out WF.

PickAChew · 10/05/2025 23:58

Now I've had some lovely GF shortbread and pastry but I'm struggling to imagine scones having the right texture. Luckily I don't have much of a sweet tooth.

JoshLymanSwagger · 11/05/2025 07:30

I don't really like scones, or cake.
I'd probably go for a nice danish pastry given the choice.

OrangeCrushes · 11/05/2025 09:10

Nice London hotels sometimes have good gf scones with their cream teas. Probably the best gf scones I have had were at the Assembly House in Norwich.

Ooooh I love the Assembly House. A friend of mine had her 50th birthday do there last year and I splashed out on a room and breakfast. Absolutely wonderful.

Wallaw · 11/05/2025 09:54

Hanging my head, but jam first. And it has to be raspberry. What's with this peach and cherry malarkey?
