And you know was written especially for you, as it resonated with your teenaged angst like nothing else?

Mine has to be Air Supply's All Out of Love 😂 💔

Just listening to the first line of the lyrics

I'm lying alone with my head on the phone
Thinking of you till it hurts..

Cracks me up now, but teenage me knew this song was all about my heartache!😆

Lloyd Cole - My Way to You

^When I couldn′t find my way home
I could always make my way to you
When I couldn′t drink myself sober
I found you
I found you^

Because I kept going back to the same bloke who was not particularly nice to me.

Oooh I love a good power ballad.
I'm not in love. 10cc
It must have been love. Roxette
More modern But i also love the original Dancing on my own by Robyn and Lady A's Need you now

SparklingMetre · 25/04/2025 21:45

Yes - McAlmont & Butler

Because, yes, I do feel better
Yes, I do, I feel alright
I feel well enough to tell you what you can do
With what you got to offer

Finally finding my strength to leave and not cave when he tried to come crawling back!

Mmmkaay · 25/04/2025 21:46

Oh - Macy Gray, I Try : I try to say goodbye and I choke
Try to walk away and I stumble
Though I try to hide it, it's clear
My world crumbles when you are not near

That was more of an unrequited love sitch though. The one I loved after a heartbreak while on the way to recovery was Yes by McAlmont & Butler. SO good to belt out!! "Yes I do feel better. Yes I do, I feel alright. I feel well enough to tell you what you can do, with what you got"!!

Not sure teenage angst but my divorce angst was After the Storm by Mumford and Sons..

There will come a time, you'll see,
With no more tears.
And love will not break your heart but dismiss your fears.

DorothyStorm · 25/04/2025 21:54

I wanna know what love is - foreigner
Ill never fall in love again - Shirley Bassey

Artrunner · 25/04/2025 21:56

Mariah Carey - Hate u ( first serious boyfriend cheated and BROKE me)

Kci and Jojo - crazy. ( when you really miss someone)

Cyndi Lauper- time after time

Everything but the girl - missing

Nicki Minaj- fire burns

whatwasthatnoise · 25/04/2025 21:58

Song for the dumped by Ben Folds Five.
Not sure any lyrics in particular resonate but love the whole 'fuck you' attitude of the song.

GasperyJacquesRoberts · 25/04/2025 22:05

Dreams Burn Down by Ride, without a doubt. "I just want what I can't have until my dreams burn down and choke me every time..."

But after flaying my heart with that I'd follow up with The Cocteau Twins because, dammit, it's anatomically impossible to listen to The Cocteau Twins and not end up feeling better.

I’ve been beaten to “Yes” by McAlmont & Butler, but that’s my choice

ClowningArounds · 25/04/2025 22:24

A Case of You by Joni Mitchell.
After a couple of relationships/flings in my 20s with tortured artistic types.
"Go to him, stay with him if you can, but be prepared to bleed...." 😭

SmegmaCausesBV · 25/04/2025 22:25

Best Thing I Never Had by Beyonce.
"Sucks to be you right now!" always makes me smile.

Whenindoubthugitout · 25/04/2025 22:25

As a teen, very much this.

As an adult, Bjork's 'All is full of love'.

You'll be given love
You'll be taken care of
You'll be given love
You have to trust it

Maybe not from the sources
You have poured yours
Maybe not from the directions
You are staring at

Twist your head around
It's all around you
All is full of love
All around you

Dry your eyes - The Streets. The music video too. Very poignant and genuinely depressing, made me feel like I wasn’t alone in my heartbreak.

sciaticafanatica · 25/04/2025 22:29

Badly Drawn Boy … silent sigh

limebasilandmentalhealth · 25/04/2025 22:31

Happier than ever - Billie Eilish

Shout out to my ex - little mix

autumn1610 · 25/04/2025 22:40

Ohh I fully got into self esteem the whole prioritise pleasure album….I do this all the time was one song when I was in the lows has the lyrics “look up, lean back, be strong” and I cried my singing it. Also marriage isn’t the biggest day of your life, all the days you get to live are big. It is my total motivation empowerment album.

Thewifefury · 25/04/2025 22:50

Ex factor - Lauren hill.
You oughta know - alanis morrisette

Weirdwalk · 25/04/2025 22:55

Call Me On Your Way Back Home- Ryan Adam’s

frecklejuice · 25/04/2025 22:57

Unbreak My Heart by Toni Braxton!

FusionChefGeoff · 25/04/2025 23:15

Dry your Eyes Mate by the Streets. My best friend banned me from listening to it when I broke up with my long term boyfriend aged about 23. Might put it on now and relive feeling young (and sad, but I’ll take that to feel young again!)

edited to shout out to @sissygirl23great minds!
