I've been busy so missed the funeral. How did this go?

It was in a private bit I think.

itsgettingweird · 27/04/2025 11:23

Good article in the guardian today about Farage and his chameleon tactics to get votes.

DuncinToffee · 27/04/2025 11:56

The one about the silent Kent voter?

itsgettingweird · 27/04/2025 12:02

It was from a guy in charge of Unions saying how Farage in targeting the working class vote but Starmer needs to stay strong and not go to the right to fight those votes and remember how he has the majority to get changes through parliament.

Basically said Farage says what people want to hear but he doesn’t follow that through nor sticks with one party!

DuncinToffee · 27/04/2025 12:04

Cosplaying as a working class champion, well summed up

Undignified and a mistake for Badenoch to use this language re PM: “ There are lots of things he says at PMQs that are not true. I can’t say that he’s lying there, but I can say it now”

Says the person who was prepared to be in a government led by someone who Parliament proved to be a liar (Boris Johnson). Whose lies on an industrial scale were known about long before he became Prime Minister.

DuncinToffee · 27/04/2025 12:15

She is basically saying 'I can't lie in parliament but I can on GB News'

She's doing an awful lot of projecting, there.

Bollocks.

If he is lying, then you are certainly allowed to ask the speaker to request clarification or a definitive statement. Which - if your claims about lying are true - would elicit a withdrawal and an apology.

Swhat St. Kemi really means is that because you actually need to be correct when you accuse someone of lying, she can't get away with it in parliament.

Karistyleaftea · 27/04/2025 14:53

I just had a look at wikipedia to find out a little bit more regarding Kemi Badenoch .
I don't know much about her and how she rose through the ranks to become Leader of the opposition .
I can't see her ever being PM , even after Sir Keir has served a second term, something I really think will happen.

It's evens whether she will be leader April 2026.

I think if the Tories do as badly as predicted on Thursday, Badenoch will be on thin ice.

If Reform win the by-election Starmer is going to be in trouble too, although not resigning level trouble.

I am not looking forward to Friday. There will be a lot of crowing from the Reform crowd on MN if the polls are proved right. But I think this will be a high point for Reform and they will struggle to keep the momentum going and the party united until 2029.

I hope.

DuncinToffee · 27/04/2025 16:22

Will it pave the way for Jenrick?

They can never keep the momentum going hence the frequent name resets and trying again.

I see them as the disrupter party sent to offer those fringe groups some hope but never seriously expect to win or will win a GE I hope

I think Jenrick will be kept aside until there’s a party that people will vote for again. The Tory’s want him as PM - not LOTO.

QuiteUnbelievable · 27/04/2025 18:37

Farage doesn't need any under hand tactics and I also think he and reform would crash the government through if nothing else no experience.
But the latest head lines... land lords given incentives to house migrants will absolutely drive voters into farages arm's whilst our green belt is being churning up for housing?

DuncinToffee · 27/04/2025 19:05

Better and cheaper than housing them in hotels or boats.

It's not a new scheme and it's mostly shared housing and flats.

I take it you support Reform? How are they planning to solve the housing shortage?

My local Fb pages are awash with panic over this Confusedalmost believing we are likely to be thrown out of our homes so a new migrant family can move in!! I despair 😩

Those are exactly the underhand tactics we are talking about.

A bit of scaremongering never goes amiss

Bit like saying migrants jump council house queues and claim lots of benefits Hmm

QuiteUnbelievable · 27/04/2025 19:44

@DuncinToffee don't take anything

If you re read my post it's extremely clear, this strategy may or may not be new but telling us we're desperate for housing and tearing up in greenbelt and then prioritising housing for migrants is going to drive people into reform even more.

QuiteUnbelievable · 27/04/2025 19:45

Those FB pages surely are merely repeating this new initiative?

Where did you get the prioritising housing for migrants from?
