I've got enough for about 6 people left. I'm thinking gyros but I'm not fully convinced yet.

Making a teriyaki stir fry 😋

Only had a tiny bit left over after a roast, so the dog had it mixed in with her tea.

Lucky dog!

TeaHagTeaBag · 21/04/2025 12:12

Dh finished it in a sandwich last night. We have some cheesey potatoes left over that ds is having for his lunch. I'm delighted I got the servings just right for a change. Nice light prawn stir fry for dinner tonight.

Lucky dog!

Roast lamb is my doggie favourite meal. I can stretch it over a few days mixed in with her chicken that she usually has.

HarpieDuJour · 21/04/2025 12:36

If we have leftover lamb, we always make curry, and then the leftover curry is made into pies with puff pastry. We cook extra lamb to make sure there are enough leftovers! (We are sheep farmers though, so lamb is free and plentiful for us).

Last week (as I did a roasted shoulder on Saturday), I had it reheated in gravy with fresh roasties and garlicky French beans on Sunday.

DH also put 2 large chunks into the freezer for other dinners (I took mine back to Brussels with me, he couldn’t be arsed dealing with leftovers in the moment). We have had lots of leftovers frozen and reheated in gravy over the years (Christmas turkey on a miserable Sunday in march is yum!).

Slice, freeze and reheat in some good stock. Won't be as nice as first time round but nice enough!

Or mince and make a cottage pie filling with cheesy mash topping.

Utterly delicious.

I am not a lover of curry - why you would want to obscure the delicious taste of an expensive cut of lamb with heavy spicing is a mystery to me

Dh has made a lamb Rogan Josh for himself and Dd has a small lamb roast dinner to heat up tonight when she gets back to university

My mum's old dog would point blank refuse to eat her tea if there was lamb in the oven. She wanted to hold out for something better.

Zippedydodah · 21/04/2025 13:39

Biryanis or cold with chips and salad 😋

IthasYes · 21/04/2025 13:41

Lamb risotto

Flamingo68 · 21/04/2025 13:41

Mine is running around in a field somewhere still hopefully!

So, you just had a little bit of it then? 😆

Quite correct as dogs cannot have chocolate and shouldn't be left out .

Our cats know when DS has plain roast chicken and they are utter pests😁

Anonym00se · 21/04/2025 13:44

I’ve got a lamb pasanda on the go in the slow cooker. I had to get up early to prepare it before the leftover lamb was snaffled by the masses.

BigDahliaFan · 21/04/2025 13:45

Stir fried with lots of ginger, spring onion, chillis and garlic is my favOurite. Or something Moroccan-y with chickpeas. Or whack in a tomato sauce and have with pasta.

Oh what a waste of lovely roast lamb!😭

What! Shepherds pie made with roast lamb is food of the gods. There is no need to mince it though.

I have a very ancient hand operated mincer that has a selection of attachments including one that has large holes. It just makes a nice, consistent, chunky mince - very tender. I roast a tray of veg with garlic and olive oil, then chop it roughly and add to the meat. Cover it in left over gravy, then the mash and bake it just long enough to heat it through and brown the potato. With (another) glass of red wine it is the perfect comfort food. It is nothing like bog standard shepherd's pie.

🙄How is cooking a meal you enjoy, a waste?

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 21/04/2025 14:18

Literally just frying it in a pan and eaten with the cold leftover lemony stuffing we ate with it. Had Easter lunch at best friends house and it’s her signature dish and INSANELY good. I won the “who gets to take leftovers home” competition

@porridgecake 👍

Oblomov25 · 21/04/2025 14:35

I just dish up a repeat roast for the next day.

RaffleQueen · 21/04/2025 14:48

I wish I had some after reading these ideas. My DC ate the lot!

Biryani!

Oh good idea! We cooked it with Indian spices yesterday too along with basmati rice. That’ll be easy to convert to biryani. Thanks for the idea @Ilovemyshed. BTW, I too love my shed 😂
