What’s Happening In Your House Right Now?

Hope everyone’s having a good Easter Sunday. I’m half watching old episodes of Escape To The Country - would kill for some of the kitchens! And there was one of the biggest beds I’ve ever seen! DH is griddling steaks. I’ve put in crinkle cut chips & breaded garlic mushrooms & just need to do the petitpois in a bit. I bought battered onion rings but not sure I can be bothered to find space in the oven for them as well. If I have room, there’s mint chocolate chip cheesecake bites in the freezer. DH not keen which is all the better for yours truly! Only had a caramel egg out of the whole chocolate stash today.

I'm roasting some chicken thighs with potatoes and parsnips, already got some carrots and broccoli cooked

Me and dd are in bed, I've got two doors down on the tv, and she is on her tablet

We've got the electric blanket on as its actually quite cold

Back to school prep starts tomorrow - I'm happy about having the bit of free time but dreading the drive, having to prep uniform etc

Edit, I'm now about to watch anthony bourdain go to Colombia!

Youngest needs dropped off at the airport in an hour so sitting with my feet up for a bit reading Mumsnet. Had a lovely chicken dinner earlier. Didn't get any easter eggs but did get a lovely Easter biscuit when we were out earlier.

Nice to not have to get up for work tomorrow

DH is taking FIL home as we’ve just had dinner (roast beef cos there was NO LAMB in the shops yesterday!). DS 16 is doing A level homework and DS12 is watching old football videos on YouTube. I’ve retired to my room with a glass of red wine as my hips are aching from gardening and I have the draft of DHs novel to carry on reading.

We have another week off as we are in NE England and have different school holidays to most of the rest of England.

I'm lying on my bed and have a glass of wine on my bedside table. It's going to get dark soon, so I best go out into the garden and water the plants. I love this quiet time.

DD is watching something on her ipad with her headphones on and giggling to herself.

I'm looking forward to a nice lie in tomorrow.

The cat is sitting on the hallway table as it's close to the radiator. It's cold now and due to go down to about 3 degrees tonight.

Might help myself to some leftover potato dauphinoise after watering the garden.

Watching the last few episodes of Yellowstone.

DH is on 12 hour nights so he's gone already as he has a 90 min commute each way.

Teens are all holed up in their bedrooms doing something..

We just aye toad in the hole and I've also eaten brie, tortilla chips and my weight in malteasers truffles.

DH is walking the dog as I did the morning and afternoon walks (mostly to get more steps in so I could have some Easter egg). DS1 has called in after being at car show all day to get changed as is going on an impromptu night out. DS2 has had a friend round all afternoon which was nice as they now no longer do the same hobby so don't see each other as often and they are going home any minute now. As soon as they have gone I'm off in the bath as I'm filthy from gardening all day.

We've had pulled pork burgers and wedges, sat in the garden on the new furniture that my youngest built this afternoon. I’ve cleaned up after dinner and come straight to my bed (with fresh sheets!!) with a cuppa and my book. Off for a hike with some pals tomorrow.

We also have another week off school and I’m on A/L this week. Hoping to do Alton towers, but depends on the weather. Eldest is 18 at the weekend but doesn’t want to celebrate.

Kids in bed, dog asleep on the sofa, I'm sat in front of the TV watching Mr Inbetween, waiting for DP to bring me beer (Mills - fresh hop 🤤) and some pork scratchings.

Made a cake this afternoon (rare for me these days) and a roast for when DH finished his shift at work, now watching Moana 2 at DD19’s request! Got lots of those little niggly jobs done this weekend, which feels pretty good. Sleep soonish.

Dh is watching Dr Who. I’m sitting in the kitchen and must really get up to switch the light on! I have the back door open and I can hear my guinea pigs munching on the grass - time to get them in!

I’m in my bed at my house, and DH and the kids are at his. We all had a lovely day together, but then I have to leave after the children 6,5&5 are all in bed because we are now a family not together anymore

Watching Fiddler on the roof (it’s on iPlayer) with the kids who are staying up a bit late as we’re away.
Popcorn and spicy crisps on the go.

Feet up watching tv listening to the dog snoring loudly.
went to mum and a dads for dinner and met up with family including my DD and her DH.
just scoffed a mini eggs Easter egg and the eggs, would love a cuppa but can’t be bothered to get off the sofa.

Him indoors is watching something on the tv. Whatever it is, it's bloody loud. He made a pork dinner today and I did the melt in the middle pudding. I'm in the snug. Tv is on but is background noise. Have 2 of my 3 dogs here and I've been knitting hats for bottles of smoothies for age UK! DD 17 had the dogs out on a lovely walk earlier as she was crampy and felt like she needed fresh air before she started revising tonight. Shes just reheated her food and i made her some fresh gravy...And she's excited to pick up her car this week. Tomorrow we go to visit out first grandbaby who is 3 days old 🥰

Peaceful day walking and taking in the sunshine followed by reading my book in the garden. Enjoying a glass of red and settling into the sofa to watch something decent, not sure what yet! Got some rice pudding so might heat up some for a late night snack as not had any chocolate this weekend!

Actually went out for lunch today - never done that at Easter before as DD was visiting. Was lovely and no cooking for the rest of day because we are all still full. Woodburner and heating on as it’s still blinking cold this way. Everyone lounging on sofa doomscrolling in a relaxed way as no work tomorrow. I haven’t done any jobs this weekend come to think of it and it’s been great!

I've just cleared up after the dead pigeon which came down the chimney and landed in my bedroom while we were on holiday last week.
Next job is to clean the cats litter tray and give him his medicine
Then the washing up from dinner.
Son has shut himself in his bedroom to do whatever he does in there
When I've finished my jobs I'll have a bath and put a colour on my hair.
Finish the day with a bit of TV

I took ds to a carvery where we both proceeded to eat our weight in potatoes and Yorkshire pudding drowned in gravy.

Ds is gaming with his friends, I fell into a food coma when we got home and had a nap on the couch. I might make a bit of a dent in some of the chocolate in a little while

Been a blissfully chill day, though have a not insignificant amount of dread that tomorrow will involve some family dramatics that I really don't have the headspace for.

Going to pack of ds to bed soon and watch a bit of daredevil I think

DH has caught the awful cold I had last week so he’s on the sofa watching some car reviews on YT eating some chocolate orange eggs Grin
DD2 is in her room finalising her art sketchbook ready for submission.
DD1 and I have gone down a rabbit hole looking at old photos, lots of reminiscing and laughing, was lovely, she’s not often home between work and a hectic social life so I’ve made the most of it.

We are just back from big family dinner at my parents. Somehow I have found room to eat some of my Easter egg even after a 3 course meal! I'm in the kitchen supervising the dog in the garden. Dh is watching the Grand Prix highlights, Ds19 is in his room gaming and talking to friends or his GF, Ds12 is playing Fifa and dd9 is on her iPad.
