Milk frother for hot chocolate, latte, cappuccino

Help

I’m looking for a milk frother for hot chocolate, lattes, and cappuccinos

Obviously, I want hot milk and I like it really frothy and creamy

I use skimmed milk

Been having a look and feeling very overwhelmed by the amount of milk frother available

I like the look of the following:
The hotel chocolate velvetizer
Nespresso aerocino
dualit, seem to have one that everyone likes

I’d like it to do one, maybe 2 cups of milk and be easy to clean

Overall, I’m a bit overwhelmed so any help would be greatly appreciated

Aerolatte. Absolute doddle.

Can definitely recommend the velvetizer, it makes beautiful hot chocolates or just frothy milk if that's what you want for coffee. It's easy to clean but does only make one cup at a time

It’s very difficult to get frothy milk without full fat milk. It’s the fat molecules that create the bubbles that stay. I use the nespresso aeroccino and it works very well.

Do the velvetizer & aerocino both Make the milk hot
I HEARD VELVETIZER Doesn’t get that hot

I heard velvet is best for hot chocolate, but aerocino Is best for latte, etc

Problem is I want hot chocolate and coffee/latte/cappuccino so a bit torn with what to do

Microwave the milk before frothing?

@BlueEyedBogWitch how sturdy is the Aerolatte?

Ikea sell a version for £1 but it's a bit flimsy but does the job.

That looks very similar so could be a good buy if it's more durable but obviously not if it's effectively the same but 13 times the price.

I use this Lavazzo one - won’t make more that one cup but I use it to make hot chocolate, matcha lattes and froth milk for coffees.

I bung my milk in, the powder and it heats and froths it.

Not cheap, but worth every penny.

seven201 · 14/04/2025 04:45

I have a velvetiser and I wouldn’t buy it again.

FortyElephants · 14/04/2025 04:46

I have one from Asda for about £25 and it's great. It probably wouldn't work well with skimmed milk though, not enough fat to froth.

That’s a shame. Why?

Lidl do a great one £17.99

That’s a shame. Why?

Probably because there are several alternatives that are much cheaper. Also that the hot chocolate produced is lukewarm.

ChessieFL · 14/04/2025 06:47

I have a velvetiser and I love it. The hot chocolate comes out the perfect temperature to drink straight away.

It’s fine for me! Like I said, perfect to drink straight away, don’t need to wait for it to cool first.

Bjorkdidit · 14/04/2025 12:14

Obviously temperature preference is subjective.

I like hot drinks to be hot. Especially something like a hot chocolate where part of the experience is to savour it over time and not gulp it down straight away before it goes from lukewarm to clap cold.

I gave up having hot chocolate in cafes because not one was ever hot enough to sip, all are served at 'it's been sitting around for a while' temperature, which ruins the experience.

Anxioustealady · 14/04/2025 12:30

I have a velvetiser. I really like it, but I have nothing to compare it to.

The sachets are a bit expensive.

No it's not really hot, but the perfect drinking temperature for me.

Easy to clean (and I hate washing up), just 3 parts, the jug itself, a magnetic spinning thing that goes inside the jug and the lid.

Lovelysummerdays · 14/04/2025 12:37

I have the nespresso one it is fine. Possibly it’s a bit hotter than the velvetiser as milk seems to harden on as soon as it’s poured and it’s really only good for one cup. Possibly not the best recommendation but I squirt some kitchen spray in add some water and then rerun it and then rinse to clean.

whosaidtha · 14/04/2025 14:02

Velvetiser is perfect to drink temp but that isn’t hot, personally wish it got a bit hotter. Also it doesn’t do that much milk. I’d choose one bigger. I love it for hot choc but not for anything else.

I also have one from Asda. It’s great and has different settings. I use it nearly every day. It works ok with skimmed milk but is better with semi (I never have whole, but guess it would be even better with whole).

Blistory · 14/04/2025 15:03

I had the velvetiser and gave it away as it didn't warm the milk enough and it wasn't enough for two cups.

Bought the Dualit one (Dualit 84150 Handheld Milk Frother) and it's fantastic - hot and makes two cups at least. Does hot chocolate and coffee.

I agree. I like my drinks hot too.
The velvetI er gets good reviews but people do say it’s not that hot and I don’t think it’s that good for lattes or cappuccino unless you want smooth rather than fry and for £100 I think I’d find it disappointing
