Milk frother for hot chocolate, latte, cappuccino

Help

I’m looking for a milk frother for hot chocolate, lattes, and cappuccinos

Obviously, I want hot milk and I like it really frothy and creamy

I use skimmed milk

Been having a look and feeling very overwhelmed by the amount of milk frother available

I like the look of the following:
The hotel chocolate velvetizer
Nespresso aerocino
dualit, seem to have one that everyone likes

I’d like it to do one, maybe 2 cups of milk and be easy to clean

Overall, I’m a bit overwhelmed so any help would be greatly appreciated

I have the nespresso one it is fine. Possibly it’s a bit hotter than the velvetiser as milk seems to harden on as soon as it’s poured and it’s really only good for one cup. Possibly not the best recommendation but I squirt some kitchen spray in add some water and then rerun it and then rinse to clean.

I m looking at the aerocino too
at least I know it’s hot from what you have said
I think that might be better if I’m wanting to use it for hot chocolate, latte and cappuccino. I think the velvetiser won’t be hot enough and it will be a smooth latte and smooth cappuccino, but it won’t be frothy so I don’t think it’ll be the same

This isn’t really getting easier

I think I’ve ruled out the velvetiser because I don’t think I’ll be happy with it for lattes and cappuccinos and I don’t think it will be hot enough

now I’m down to

aerocino
lakeland
dualit max
lavazza

The velvetizer is made by Dualit anyway

I have Nespresso, dualit and Salter milk forther/velvetiser.

The dualit one is the best by far.

The salter one is okay and the Nespresso one doesn't get hot enough.

I have the Dualit one and it’s perfect for my needs.

Cookiepuss · 14/04/2025 16:25

I've had the Dualit one for about 3 years - I bought it when the Nespresso Aeroccino died and the Dualit replacement was much better value as I only paid £50 for it (although I see they are more expensive now).

The Dualit one I have is really easy to clean, does enough milk for two generous sized latte's in one go and the milk comes out at a perfect temperature (as I like my drinks to be hot).

So the aerocino doesn’t get hot enough either? Flipping eck.

dualit also make the velvetiser which is probably why it’s good. Have you got the cheaper one or the max? I think one is £70 and one is £100.

The £70 one or the new Max for a £99

The Dualit is coming back as my favourite now
did you get the £70 version or the new max for £100?

It’s hot enough for me and I like hot drinks. I do prewarm the cup though, I run a double shot through nespresso machine on empty. Then a double shot of espresso topped up with hot milk. There is a limit to how hot milk should be, you don’t want to overheat it ( you can tell as it smells a bit like porridge ) as you will ruin your drink.

Nespresso often new or nearly used from eBay, mine new and £30 cheaper

I use this Lavazzo one - won’t make more that one cup but I use it to make hot chocolate, matcha lattes and froth milk for coffees.

I bung my milk in, the powder and it heats and froths it.

Not cheap, but worth every penny.

Have this too. It’s great!

Does it make good hot chocolate and frothy cappuccino and latte?

The Nespresso one was hot enough at first but I've had it a few years now and it no longer gets as hot as it did.

The dualit was gift but it looks like the cheaper one.

You prefer the Dualit oven Nespresso if it was hot enough

We bought a cheap one in Lidl, an impulse purchase. DM says it's better than her velvetiser. It does hot and cold milk with foam and different foam levels, pretty sure it was about £15, we got it to see if it would get enough use to warrant a velvetiser then never bothered to upgrade it

HundredPercentUnsure · 14/04/2025 23:22

I also have the Dualit.

Easy to clean
Heats the milk
Good for hot choc, coffees
It heats the milk but it isn't hot hot. I prefer my drink hot hot. It's good enough.

My DH prefers to heat milk in the microwave, pour it into a tghtly sealing thermos flask and give it a vigorous shake to frith it up!

Lavazza gets my vote too. And it works with skimmed milk.

I also have the Nespresso version, but it doesn't get the milk hot enough and I don't find it very easy to clean.

Also have the Lavazza. Wouldn’t be without it. Works on dairy and oat really well.

Look at this product that I found on google.com
https://g.co/kgs/TSJXeWW

inuse something that looks like this but isn’t a big brand.
its great but dont know if it would work with skimmed milk. Semi is fine and whole milk is much frothier.

EndofDaze · 15/04/2025 09:28

I can recommend the Smeg milk frother. It’s got several different settings for hot and cold drinks; all dishwasher safe and (if it matters you) looks great on the counter top. Downside is the price.

happytobemrsg · 15/04/2025 13:32

I have the velvetiser & nespresso. I only use the velvetiser when I’m making hot chocolate & probably wouldn’t replace it if it broke. The nespresso is amazing & makes perfect hot frothy milk (a bit of trial & error to work out exactly how much milk to put in so it doesn’t over flow). I bought my mum an Amazon one with good reviews & it was rubbish compared to my Nespresso one. Much too runny.

mumoffourau · 31/07/2025 11:40

It is possible to frothe milk without great cost or a big coffee machine. Just get one of the handheld frothers and use rechargeable batteries - bingo!

bruffin · 31/07/2025 11:53

Daffy711 · 14/04/2025 03:14

Sounds good thanks
easy to clean?

The salter chocolate maker is a lot cheaper and does the same.

mumoffourau · 31/07/2025 12:04

Oh yeah very easy to clean, just run it under the tap with cold water. I can't find the brand mine is sorry but here's some on Amazon, best to get one of the better quality frothers - the hand held ones are called a 'whisk' and use some rechargeable batteries in it, mine takes AA I got them from IKEA. The quality of froth from it was really good! https://www.amazon.com.au/b?ie=UTF8&node=5016853051
