What pans do you have?

We desperately need some new pans. We’ve had so many pan sets since 2010 and I’m fed up of them wearing out. My MIL has had the same set of pans since she got married around 40 years ago and they’re still going strong! I want a set that does that. So recommend me some pans that’ll outlive me (I’m 33 btw)

DH had Stellar stainless steel pans before we lived together and we took them over to our French house. They are still going strong well over 20 years later. Nice strong handles and good sizes too.

Circulon website has pictures of pans that are abused 😂

Recommendations for pans that have lasted 40 years won't work as you won't be getting those same pans! Companies move their factories, make changes etc. Even Le Creuset no longer make all their cookware in France and have moved some to China. I've had a lot of luck with individual items from TK Max. Just look for something decently solid and avoid Teflon coating.

Mine looked exactly like the abused pans but I swear they were only ever hand washed and used on a low heat! They still sent me a new set.

They didn’t ask for the old ones back or a receipt as proof of original purchase.

I bought the pans in 2016 and put in the claim in February 2025 this year. They responded after 3 weeks.

Thanks all! Lots of recommendations to look at 😃 Hopefully I’ll have a lovely new set of pans soon that may actually last!

You don't need a set tbh.

You need:
One non stick pan for omelettes
A large stainless steel pan with lid, about 3" tall.
A cast iron skillet.

SchrodingersTwat2 · 12/04/2025 19:18

Woolworths, 1993.

Slightly more recent frying pans from Sainsbury's.

Stellar - had them for nearly 40 years. My grandparents bought them for us as a wedding present. They still look as good as new.

Ditto had mine for 40 years too, they were a present to myself for my ‘bottom drawer’ 😊

ladybird30 · 12/04/2025 19:55

I've had my Green Pan set for 10 years now, still look new asides from the bottom of the pans and I find them lovely to use, clean etc.

IKEA FINMAT, stainless steel, copper plated. They are an absolute dream and I wish I had bought them years ago instead of limping along with my old, cheap, non matching pans! Cooking is an absolute delight

AnotherHappyCamper · 12/04/2025 21:42

Yes we cook everything from scratch every day as well so good pans are really important. So far our cheap and cheerful ones are holding out well but I do want some nicer ones at some point.

I make omelettes, scrambled eggs and whatnot in my stainless steel frying pan, no problem.

Mind you I just bought an instant pot after years of dithering and it's my new best friend!

Oh I loooooove my IP! It gets used at least weekly, I’m doing beef stew in it tomorrow.

We ended up taking a drive out to Junction 32 today and looked in the Tefal shop which is having a closing down sale so everything had an extra 20% off. Ended up with an absolute bargain, got a set of Ingenio pans (3 stainless saucepans and a few different frying pans which will all come in handy!) annoyingly the frying pans are non stick so I’m not expecting them to last ages but they’re better than the ProCook ones I’m getting rid of! We spent £140 and got the pan set, plus the plastic fridge lids, 2 extra handles and an extra packet of felt protectors.

And technically it was all free because last weekend I entered the competition on a box of teabags and won £1000 so we used that to buy them 🤣

We got given M & s stainless steel pans as wedding presents 25 years ago still going strong dd boyfriend who used to be a chef used them while cooking us a meal and went out and bought a set as he was really impressed with them. Apart from a cheap set when we first moved in together they are the only pans I've had so not got much to compare with

CozyCoupe · 12/04/2025 22:05

My Stellar stainless steel are 10 years old and look like new. I've never even thought about new pans, they feel indestructible and I'm quite sure they'll still be around for years to come!

MarxAndSparx · 12/04/2025 22:08

We have stainless steel Salter ones - they are really good. No issues with them at all and they were £40 ( on offer) for the whole set!

We used to have Le Crueset ones, which were very generously given to us for free. We had them about 8 years but they were just so heavy, it was sometimes uncomfortable, especially if draining things. Washing them was a faff too.

PinkPonyClubber · 12/04/2025 22:10

I really like my ninja, they have thick bases. Take a while to heat up but really retain the heat.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 13/04/2025 01:31

What about Our Place pans?

bughunter · 13/04/2025 05:36

Our Place - they’re amazing!

TheNinjaWife · 13/04/2025 09:07

We have just replaced our Circulon pans. They were all over 20 years old. I was getting a little worried about the coating.
We now have a stainless steel Ninja set and I really don’t like them.
They are very heavy and I have weak wrists from hyper mobility.
The handles get extremely hot, because they are made to put in the oven, which is not something I would use them for.
The handles are also very slippery, no grip.
I do like the transparent lids though and I think the sizing is good. We have been putting them in the dishwasher.

AnotherHappyCamper · 13/04/2025 09:44

You can buy silicon handle covers which would help with heat proofing/safety.

Seawolves · 13/04/2025 09:49

Le Crueset stainless steel ones, recently one of the screws came out of the lid of one of the pans and LC sent me a new lid for free.

roses2 · 13/04/2025 10:06

@TheNinjaWife We have just replaced our Circulon pans

Did you send Circulon a message? They will replace them as part of their lifetime guarantee. If you still have the plans I would contact them on their website and you can give the pans to someone else if you don't want them.

Roses, I just asked DH and he remembers that when we got our Circulon pans they did not have a lifetime warranty, maybe 10 years? We purchased them from around 1999! Then added to them. We have since thrown them out, but I think we will end up getting them again and giving the Ninja ones to a good home.
