What pans do you have?

We desperately need some new pans. We’ve had so many pan sets since 2010 and I’m fed up of them wearing out. My MIL has had the same set of pans since she got married around 40 years ago and they’re still going strong! I want a set that does that. So recommend me some pans that’ll outlive me (I’m 33 btw)

There should be no need to replace them.

as others have said, go for stainless steel. There is no need for them to have any coating except perhaps for a non stick frying pan.

i have some pans from the ikea 365 range. Also a couple of more expensive ones picked up over the years. Some le Creuset for casseroles etc.

I do take care of my pans and expect them to last another 50 years.

Straight sided (easier for sauce making/mashing), stainless steel. Mine are over 30 years old and still going strong, they were from John Lewis. I would choose them all over again. You can buy them individually or they have sets https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-classic-stainless-steel-lidded-saucepan-set-3-piece/p2647369

I bought a set of these in 1993 and I am still using them everyday. I also bought a stock/soup pot in 1988 which I am still using - can’t remember the brand but importantly it’s a heavy based stainless steel pot.

Another one for stellar. I have metal ones, no non stick black rubbish in site. So far had them nearly 30 years and still going strong

PrettayGood · 12/04/2025 13:21

I don’t cook, but my husband has Hexclad pans and he really rates them.

Mielikki · 12/04/2025 13:28

Le Creuset (enamel) , Lodge (cast iron), and Stellar (stainless). None of it less than 30 years old and some over 50 (inherited). All fine although some of the older Le Creusets will need re-enamelling in the next decade or two.

Never bothered with non-stick, it doesn’t last and I can do without a load of toxic PFAS in my diet.

soupyspoon · 12/04/2025 13:33

My saucepans are Stellar, almost as good as new.

Any frying/wok pans are ruined as OH obsessed with putting everything in the dishwasher so I cant have anything nice. My beautiful circulon pan that my mum gave me, ruined, binned.

MadameCholetsDirtySecret · 12/04/2025 13:37

I have these from Le Crueset.
They get lots of use and still look like new after a number of years.

I have Le Creuset stainless steel rather than cast so a normal weight. They are 20 years old and perfect. Also Le Creuset, although expensive initially have a lifetime guarantee.

FalseSpring · 12/04/2025 13:51

I have Stellar Stainless Steel pans. I often see them in TKMaxx for much less than full price. They will last a lifetime and stay looking good.

C8H10N4O2 · 12/04/2025 13:53

I could well be you MiL's age and have Le Creuset older than me. I had a great set of pans from Prestige - stainless steel with thick copper bases. They were expensive 40 years ago and still going strong.

Sadly I've had to switch from gas to induction and they don't work with induction so I've bought some Ninja Foodie pans recommended for induction. They seem good - I'll update you in 40 years 😃

DilkushaKitchen · 12/04/2025 13:54

I inherited my Nan's stainless steel Prestige lifetime pans about 30 years ago and they are still going strong! My husband came with Stellar saucepans, and they must be about 30 years old too - they have a lifetime guarantee, and they sent us a new pan when a handle fell off a couple of years ago.

I prefer the shape of the Stellar ones, but don't like the metal handles and knobs as much as whatever my Prestige ones are made of that doesn't get hot.

I only have a non stick frying pan and one for making scrambled eggs in - I don't find anything else needs to be non stick. Beauty of stainless steel is, if anything is left stuck on after going through the dishwasher (rare) we can have at it with the "wire wool"

ooooohnoooooo · 12/04/2025 13:57

We are very hard on cookware.

Had these for about 5 years and they still look like new

Hexclad ones - albeit VERY pricey, look amazing 🙌

Same. Have been really impressed with them. An investment for sure

I have a set of Circulon infinite which have a lifetime warranty. I made a claim last month on two pans and they sent me replacements.

Avoid Fissler as they don't honour their 5 year guarantee. My 2 year old non stick wore off and they told me I used it at too high a temperature - it's a freaking saucepan!

How does that work?
Into need receipts?
I have Circulon and the coating is coming off.

Agree that stainless steel is the way to go. I’ve been reading too much on forever chemicals.

These! Don't consider anything else. I've got small, medium and large. 9 years old, look like new, well used and lifetime guarantee.

Breadcat24 · 12/04/2025 14:06

circulon but I don't put them in the dishwasher

MollyRover · 12/04/2025 14:13

Sola fully stainless steel so they can go in the oven. I’ve had them 20 years and they’re still perfect, think they’ll probably last the rest of my life. Frying pans are IKEA or TK Maxx because I replace them every few years.

Sunshineandgrapefruit · 12/04/2025 14:14

We got a set from John Lewis years ago. Stainless steel with a ring of copper in the base. Really good. Just like new 16 years later and we use them pretty much everyday.

Mossstitch · 12/04/2025 14:15

I've had ikea stainless steel, the ones with steel handles are the best as no danger of melting the plastic handles, for at least 20 years and cook from scratch daily. As for non stick frying pans, I've tried across the range and now usually just use cheap ones from home bargains or asda and replace as required as no matter how expensive they don't last!

Treviarpelli · 12/04/2025 15:38

Another vote for Stellar, stainless steel and as shiny as when they were bought over 20 years ago

Thisismyalterego · 12/04/2025 16:08

Until recently I was using a set of stainless steel ones we got about 15 years ago when Tesco gave tokens every time you spent a certain amount. We collected enough tokens to get a complete set of pans, frying pan, wok etc. The only one I needed to replace was the frying pan as the non stick coating began to come off. I gave the set to my DS when we had our kitchen done and they are still going strong. I replaced them with Denby stainless steel , using clubcard vouchers, which seems excellent quality so far.

maggiesleapp · 12/04/2025 16:11

We have stellar, still looking great 30 years on. A couple of le crueset for stews etc. always have a couple of small non stick pans for sauces, scrambled eggs etc that need replaced every few years but not expensive..

Init4thecatz · 12/04/2025 16:22

Following as I'm looking to replace ours too!

Anyone who has had theirs for a long time, which ones are still non-stick?

@mumofoneAlonebutokay- Are Hexclad as good as the reviews say?
