(*And other regional variations - please tell me what you have!)

Basically a fry up.
What does your one consist of?
And how do you like your eggs?

Planning one for tomorrow.
For me -
Sausages
Bacon
Fried mushrooms
Fried/tin Tomatoes
Scrambled eggs
Granary bread toast

Accompanied by glass of juice.

Morrisons and Ocado do Clonakilty black and white puddings.

TheChosenTwo · 16/03/2025 08:10

I’d have:
bacon
garlic mushrooms
fried egg
potato rosti or hash brown

that’s probably it, I don’t really enjoy many of the elements of a cooked breakfast or eat them often.

MrsMoastyToasty · 16/03/2025 08:36

If you want the FULL full English breakfast you need the 3 courses.
Starter- orange juice. Cereal or grapefruit segments.
Main- cooked breakfast as above.
Dessert- toast and marmalade or jam

All washed down with unlimited cups of tea 🍵.

None of the above.

Smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel
Avocado and poached egg on toast
Pancakes with soft fruit and honey.

Shouldn't be on this thread really.

greengreyblue · 16/03/2025 08:43

Rarely have one as do t eat breakfast but if I had it at lunchtime I would have a poached egg , 1 grilled bacon rasher, sautéed mushrooms, a grilled tomato and some granary or toasted sourdough.

Hoplolly · 16/03/2025 08:46

Probably only have one, once every 2-3 years - just not a breakfast person. Far likelier to have brinner, but my "English" breakfast would have

Sausages
Bacon
Fried mushrooms
Fried tomato
Fried eggs
Black pudding
Hash browns
White bread toast
Big mug of tea

I'd rather have poached eggs on sourdough with avocado and chilli though.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 16/03/2025 08:52

I'm going to have a fry up this morning as we were out last night and I'm feeling very thick headed and need to be on form for when we meet friends for cocktails today at 3pm... 😬

So I shall be having:

4 rashers of streaky bacon
2 fried eggs
2 hash browns
Baked beans
Fried bread

That should sort me out! 😋

Onesmallstepforaman · 16/03/2025 08:52

The Ulster fry is my favourite of the cooked breakfast. Once stayed at a b&b in Cushendall where the breakfast (all homemade) consisted of 7 courses ,including the fry. Might explain why weight is my issue,I suppose🤔

HowDairy · 16/03/2025 09:04

@MrsMoastyToasty I'm sure I've seen packages of haggis slices in waitrose.

Thanks everyone for sharing your perfect fry up.
I've got hash browns and baked beans in for those who want them.
We tend to cook everything and then everyone just takes what they like for their plates.
I have never had fried bread though.
What is it fried in? Butter? Veg/sunflower/olive oil?

What is fruit pudding?
Am I being dim, is it literally like a fruit salad?

Never had white or black pudding, or oatcakes either.
I have had square sausage when we stayed in Edinburgh.

Yes, bacon must be smoked and we only buy Musk's Newmarket sausages.

Edited: meant to tag @Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday to ask about fruit pudding.

Thanks @dementedpixie
Totally dim then, so not a fruit salad 😂
I've never come across it before, might have to seek it out next time we are in Scotland!

Bacon, sausage, egg, mushrooms, beans with toast on the side, and a cup of tea. White bread is the only acceptable bread for the toast, and with real butter.
I hate tinned tomatoes so would never have them. Also hate black pudding. I’m not bothered about hash browns but sometimes make them because the rest of the family like them. Usually have fried egg but scrambled also acceptable

Favouritefruits · 16/03/2025 09:30

Potato cake
veggi sausage
beans
mushrooms
tomato tinned
toast with butter
fried egg
Ketchup

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 16/03/2025 09:32

Fried bread is a slice of bread fried in the leftover bacon fat 😋

For the full Scottish folk amongst you please tell me how to make or find White Pudding. I have a childhood memory of this in the Highlands but never since encountered it. I think it was and delicious.

Geordie, not Scottish. Sainsbury's sell Clonakilty white pudding, if not available at your local shop, they have it online.

Add hollandaise and I'm with you for the first two.

My Wegovy must be working a treat because I'm feeling quite squicky at the thought of a big fry up.

Sal17690 · 16/03/2025 11:31

A traditional 'fry up' does nothing for me. But I love components of it. If I wanted a big breakfast / went out for brunch I like things like smashed avo on sourdough / scrambled eggs and smoked salmon / anything with lots of delicious mushrooms / poached eggs with salmon and hollandaise 😋

OchonAgusOchonOh · 16/03/2025 11:41

I'm sorry but tinned tomatoes have no place in a fry. I'm Irish and have never encountered them here but I was shocked and horrified to be served them in a guest house in London about 30 years ago. Even worse is the fact that I'm a veggie so the veggie fry only consisted of tinned tomatoes and mushrooms.

I would have proper, real tomatoes grilled, mushrooms and fried potatoes. Loads of toast to accompany it. Baked beans are not a breakfast food as far as I'm concerned and I'm not a major fan of eggs. And I definitely don't want fake meat.

mondaytosunday · 16/03/2025 11:59

Bacon, sausage, egg, baked beans, black pudding, tomatoes (must be fresh never tinned)/mushrooms, toast with butter and marmalade and lots of tea. Used to be fried bread (in bacon fat) when I was growing up.
What absolutely doesn’t belong is hash browns!

AmIthatSpringy · 16/03/2025 12:03

Bacon
lorne sausage
black pudding
mushrooms
tattie scone
tomatoes
poached eggs

tea, not coffee
