(*And other regional variations - please tell me what you have!)

Basically a fry up.
What does your one consist of?
And how do you like your eggs?

Planning one for tomorrow.
For me -
Sausages
Bacon
Fried mushrooms
Fried/tin Tomatoes
Scrambled eggs
Granary bread toast

Accompanied by glass of juice.

Bacon, sausage, scrambled egg, roast tomatoes, hash browns, mushrooms, black pudding, toast

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 15/03/2025 18:35

I’d add to the usual, fried potatoes - pre cooked for the purpose in the microwave and sliced.
Any fried egg must be cooked with no horrible slimy uncooked white on top.

For the full Scottish folk amongst you please tell me how to make or find White Pudding. I have a childhood memory of this in the Highlands but never since encountered it. I think it was and delicious.

laughingnow · 15/03/2025 19:47

Fried potato or Hash browns
Toast

Edited to add the essential pot of Yorkshire tea.

VerityUnreasonble · 15/03/2025 20:33

I don't really enjoy many of the component of a fry up, so I would go for:

Bacon
Bacon
Bacon
Mushroom
Fried bread (fried in the bacon fat)
Glass of orange juice to cut through the salt and grease

PonyPatter44 · 15/03/2025 20:51

@SinnerBoy I bloody love the Clonakilty black and white puddings. I cant find them anywhere round here though. I can get square sausage from the butchers and haggis at pretty much every supermarket.

Growlybear83 · 15/03/2025 20:58

We have grilled bacon, sausage, black pudding, fried egg, fried crumpet, grilled tomatoes, and a potato farl. I do mushrooms for my husband as well. I love bacon but only grilled - I think the taste is ruined if it’s fried, and I also can’t bear fried tomatoes.

Dearg · 15/03/2025 21:02

Smoked Back Bacon
Black Pudding
Pork Sausage
2 poached eggs
Tattie scone - preferably fried but can handle toasted
grilled tomato
mushrooms
spinach for me ( body is a temple )
beans for DH

Buttered toast triangles
English Breakfast tea

MiserableMrsMopp · 15/03/2025 21:05

Smoked back bacon.
Poached eggs on granary toast.
Good, meaty sausage, not ones full of filler.
Hash browns away from the other foods, so they stay crispy.
Mushrooms fried in salty butter.
Baked beans in a cup/bowl (so they can't adulterate the other food).
Yorkshire tea, in a pot.

Gliblet · 15/03/2025 21:11

Good sausages, maybe smoked sausage
Crispy bacon
Poached or fried eggs
Black pudding
Mushrooms

Toast with butter
Strawberry jam or bitter orange marmalade

Strong tea

Twinkletwinklelil · 15/03/2025 21:15

Sausages, bacon, fried or scrambled eggs, baked beans, mushrooms, white fried bread. Apple or orange juice and a cup of tea.

but I’d much rather have a healthy big breakfast with sourdough, eggs, spinach, tomato, mushrooms ..

Differentstarts · 15/03/2025 21:18

Scrambled eggs
Crispy smoked bacon
2 sausages
Mushrooms
Baked beans
Hashbrowns
White toast with loads of butter
Orange juice
A mug of tea with milk

caringcarer · 15/03/2025 22:13

I do a cooked breakfast every Saturday. Sausages, bacon, hash browns, plum tomatoes, baked beans, fried eggs, homemeal toast. I'm allergic to mushrooms so never cook those.

MrsMoastyToasty · 15/03/2025 14:05

Eggs
Bacon
Fried bread or cheap white slice bread.
Black pudding
Mushrooms
Grilled tomatoes

( plus burgers, fish fingers and hash browns if it's an evening meal rather than breakfast).

Scottish DH would also add
Tattie scones
Frying haggis slices*

(*cannot for want of trying find this in English supermarkets.)

Have you tried Waitrose? The one I work in definitely sells them!

ODFOx · 15/03/2025 23:37

If I do a roast on Saturday I’ll do bubble and squeak with Sunday breakfast, instead of hash browns or sautéed potatoes. Otherwise I like everything laid out in the middle for everyone to pick from because I can’t choose what I want until I see it in front of me. I like everything but don’t have room for everything.

angelspike · 15/03/2025 23:43

This is more a dream “someone else is cooking it” breakfast
square sausage (I’m not Scottish but grew up with my mum always having this in the house!)
very crispy bacon
runny fried eggs
potato scone
fried bread
beans
brown sauce
cup of tea
orange juice
