How many loads of laundry will you do today?

I’m doing bedding, so that’s two loads.
Dark clothing is another load.
Delicates one load.
And hopefully towels as well.

5 loads today.

Zero, we're childfree and do one load every two weeks.
I don't separate anything.

(I don't own white clothes and don't use fabric softener, so towels can go in with everything else, on a 40-60° wash)

Happystrider1 · 11/03/2025 16:02

I do one load six days a week for a family of 4

Today was eldest child's bedding, some towels and some larger bits that wouldn't get lost amongst the bedding

I put it all on the washing line, 3/4 of it was dry so the still damp bits were hung up inside.

GameOfJones · 11/03/2025 16:07

I do one load of washing every day so it doesn't pile up, but today it is going to have been three!

I washed the door mat because it was looking frankly disgusting and the microfibre mop pad this morning after cleaning the floors.

Bedding is currently on a wash because it's been filling up the washing basket since I changed the bed on Sunday.

I'll put our normal daily wash on this evening after dinner.

I usually use the Eco wash in the evening for clothes because it takes 3.5 hours but it does use less water and energy.

Hot cottons wash for bedding, towels, gym wear or anything heavily soiled.

Quick 1hr wash at 40 if it happens to only be a small load.

OkPedro · 11/03/2025 16:09

Obviously depends on how many in your household. I try to do one wash a day. Me, two teenagers and a dcat
I rarely separate whites and darks.. use colour catchers.. I have a beko machine, I use the 28 minute cycle for everything.

I feel like I'm winning at life 😆

Bikechic · 11/03/2025 16:10

You've reminded me to put a load on. Dd has just tidied her room so most of her clothes landed in washing basket.
One load today. Rarely do more than that unless we've just arrived home from holiday.

offmynut · 11/03/2025 16:13

I do my laundry once a week.

tedibear · 11/03/2025 16:19

Today just 2, its bedsheets So pillow cases and fitted sheet in one load and the duvet in second load it's all king size. Washing basket isn't that full anyway I done 2-3 washings yesterday.

I'm always shocked at how little some people do! Before the kids DH wld do ours on a Friday afternoon as he got a half day. We probably did maybe about 3-4 then one for towels and more if we were doing the bedsheets that week.

Got 2 kids now I don't know how many I do but some days 2-3 isn't unusual. I do know it's the chores I hate the most as it never ends and is so long. So the washing then the drying then the folding up and separating and taking everything to each room and then having to put it all away (well I don't do DHs but I do it for the rest of us).

menopausalfart · 11/03/2025 16:24

I chuck everything in on 40 unless really soiled. I don't have much that's delicate. I do one load a day. I wash wool by hand.

hereismydog · 11/03/2025 16:25

I’ve done two (sofa throws and clothes), and I’m counting it as a win because I have an absolute Velcro baby who screams when I put him down.

I haven’t quite got the hang of catching the jet of wee when I change his nappy yet so we sometimes go through a couple of outfits a day. There is a lot more washing than there used to be Grin

Madre123 · 11/03/2025 16:26

I have done 4 loads earlier today. Only 2 adults here but so much more washing. I wouldn't want to be doing the laundry for a large family now that's for sure.

SallyWD · 11/03/2025 16:26

The most I do is three loads a day. Never done 5! I'm doing none today and one tomorrow.

Moveoverdarlin · 11/03/2025 16:27

I would never to do washes back to back like that. The house would end up looking like a laundrette. I would spread that 5 loads across the week. Rain is forecast for tomorrow so I won’t do it then.

Darkclothes · 11/03/2025 16:27

For those doing quick washes, I always thought they used far more water and electric than the longer washes?

I know it seems counter intuitive. My eco wash is over 3hrs long- BUT, uses much less than the shorter cycles.

Same for the dishwasher too.

Headingtowardsdivorce · 11/03/2025 16:27

Zero

MiddleAgedDread · 11/03/2025 16:27

none - i actually found the bottom of my laundry basket at weekend! Will do a load tomorrow evening when there'll be sufficient work clothes and sweaty gym kit to fill it.
Towels and bedding were done end of last week so they don't need doing this week (will have stayed at BF's 2 nights and showered at his / at work a couple of times).

rrrrrreatt · 11/03/2025 16:30

I try to do all our washing on a Tuesday and I dry it on a heated airer with a dehumidifier on. I’ve done 3 loads today; 1 x dark, 1 x colours and 1 x throws off our sofas (covered in cat hair and mud).

Might do a hot wash tomorrow if it’s sunny as I’ve changed the sheets and like to dry them on the line if I can.

Hedgesgalore · 11/03/2025 16:32

Three, just about to fetch them in from the line, lovely drying weather here.

Two loads of bedding and one load of work shirts.

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 11/03/2025 16:42

Do you all have 2kg machines or something?

skipdiddyskip · 11/03/2025 16:43

2 today. But usually at least one a day

Whereareyourshoes · 11/03/2025 16:51

Second load of the day going on soon. Family of 5. Machine on at least twice a day, every day, once in the morning and once in the evening. It’s relentless but grateful to have clean clothes, outdoor drying space, a heated airer and a dehumidifier!

dudsville · 11/03/2025 16:54

2 loads of bedding, 2 loads of clothing. We're all out of schedule with our laundry routine owing to external factors.

Flidina · 11/03/2025 17:46

4 loads here today, whites, darks , coloureds and towels.

Bignanna · 11/03/2025 17:50

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 11/03/2025 16:42

Do you all have 2kg machines or something?

Do you mean 20 kg?

Teenagerantruns · 11/03/2025 17:55

I have done 2, just two adults but we both needed uniform for work washed, then did a white wash . We probably do 4 loads a week for 2 of us. Maybe more with sheets/towels.
When l had school.aged kids l used to a load a day

ThisIsMyYearToFindMyself · 11/03/2025 18:16

Bignanna · 11/03/2025 17:50

Do you mean 20 kg?

No. I mean 2kg, like I said.
