What small thing are you surprisingly on top of.

Rather than focus on all the shit that is drowning me I was thinking about what I was surprisingly on top of.

drum roll…..

Setting all my email preferences so I don’t get marketing emails and my inbox is manageable. I saw my friends inbox and it has 10,000+ unopened emails and I got so stressed!

Share any mundane things that you are completely on top of… cleaning schedule, fixing clothes and shoes etc….

Laundry.
I have a bunch of kids so lots of laundry but I have always been able to be on top of it. Never understand people that send it to Gran’s to get done or who don’t have clean uniform for the kids in the morning….

AuntieMarys · 10/03/2025 06:44

There are only 15 emails in my inbox! I'm like you.
Without sounding smug I'm on top of everything....I have the time and I get very stressed if I'm not. We moved house in December and I know where everything is, there are no doom drawers or outstanding admin. I've even redone my will and POAs. 5 breaks away for this year booked and paid for and I'm in the process of planning next years holidays as dh retires in June.

countingthedays945 · 10/03/2025 06:49

@AuntieMarys I guess you can't say this stuff in real life can you?

I'm not 100% on top of much at the moment but by the end of March I will hopefully be thoroughly on track for my holiday in April.

TheWayTheLightFalls · 10/03/2025 06:57

I have my children trained like German Shepherds.

They have fun and independence and lots of time doing their own thing, but when I say that it’s time to go / tidy / whatever else, they do it. I didn’t do this so I could boast about it on MN but because (as it once was) three under four I didn’t want to be the person running through the park screaming after them.

Also very frowned upon to say irl, so here I am!

Sgtmajormummy · 10/03/2025 06:59

Ddog and his health, grooming, bedding and food.
Probably over-compensating because he’s going to kennels next month.

At work, all my admin because the new system wants everything updated within 24h. I’m chafing under the harness…

Heylylaa · 10/03/2025 07:15

Monthly CIS returns. I always end up leaving it until the last minute and having to rush through entering all our subcontractors invoices onto the system to ensure they are included in the return. This month I’ve actually done them every week so today I just need to do a quick check through and then I can submit it to HMRC.
It’s nice to start a Monday knowing I won’t end up in my usual flap when boss asks me to do other things too.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 10/03/2025 07:18

I currently have 97,734 emails in my personal inbox which I don't care about at all, but my work inbox must always be at 0 - even in the evening/weekend - otherwise my eye gets twitchy 😂

I'm all over birthdays as well. If a gift isn't bought/wrapped/attached to a handwritten-by-DS card and ready to go a week before it's needed, I feel like I've failed. Same for Christmas, the list for Christmas 2025 is already halfway done and everything will be bought/wrapped/under the tree by the 1st of December. On the flip side, I travel for work tomorrow morning and have no clue what I'm packing or if I even have the clean clothes. I'd much prefer to be working on my Christmas list instead 🫠

2021x · 10/03/2025 07:29

Very impressed with the training of the dogs and the laundry I can never get on top of it.

I would live to be on top of having a capsule wardrobe and just have a couple of things to wear daily. That would be a dream

Expiry dates
But emetophobic so not sure that counts, heheh. There's not a single thing in the fridge or pantry that's outside expiry and I usually have most of them memorised so we can rotate out well before the date arrives.

minnienono · 10/03/2025 07:32

@SullysBabyMama

Laundry I've never had an issue, not even when they were babies and had two in cloth nappies, in fact I suspect that the necessity to keep on top them helped later, dd1 has autism (obviously didn't know when decided to have dd2, close in age) so I had 2 in nappies for 2 years and only one set, you have to be organised but very doable

CoralDreamer · 10/03/2025 07:32

@2021x Is this a thing?? I have 7779 unread emails! Tell me your secret please!

Blackcordoroys · 10/03/2025 07:35

I have de-pilled all my wool jumpers this weekend and am proud of myself. I quite enjoy the process

I love this!

Kids who don't listen/obey promptly are SO annoying.

Walk me through you process. Please!

I always have stamps and know exactly where they are.

Currently on maternity leave and the aims that when I'm finished I'll be where you are with emails and also my OneDrive photos.

LemonBossy · 10/03/2025 07:42

I always feel smug when I have just bought stamps 🤣

Cerialkiller · 10/03/2025 07:42

Business paperwork. I hate admin with a passion but starting my own company means the buck stops here and I've worked in enough offices to see what a cluster fuck their filing systems are. I still have a viceral reaction to spreadsheets so mostly avoid them but I'm on top of invoicing expending and accounts. It helps that it's just me.

InWithThePlums · 10/03/2025 07:43

I’m on top of nothing so using this thread for inspiration!

Yay someone who appreciates my boring super power. It took about 6 months to actually get through all the marketing emails and unsubscribe, and now I delete anything that is completed and sort anything else into folders….

Not to boast but my inbox currently has 7 emails in it! It is the most peaceful
part of my life.

Nothing!! Absolutely nothing 😭

devildeepbluesea · 10/03/2025 08:12

It’s black bag bin day today so yesterday I went round the house and binned all the rubbish and unwanted stuff.

I prepped 3 breakfasts and 2 lunches yesterday.

I’ve started a new job which is so much more reasonable than the last, awful place that I now have time to exercise before work as well as walking the dog.

My meals for the next 3-4 days are planned and I’m looking forward to making them. I can’t plan any further ahead, I find I don’t want what I’ve cooked so end up wasting even more than if I hadn’t planned at all.

BloominNora · 10/03/2025 08:30

I am on top of precisely nothing 😭

Toseland · 10/03/2025 08:40

Polishing my older son's expensive Clarks leather shoes. I started to try to make them last a bit longer and touch them up quickly each morning. It's been over a year now and they still look pretty good, he might grow out of them this time!

BeyondMyWits · 10/03/2025 08:52

The oven. Every time I use it it gets cleaned. Just a soapy scourer. 5 minutes at most.
Got on top of it when it cost £80 to give it a proper clean by a professional.

EIGHTY QUID, for the sake of 5 minutes every day or 2.

Got "judged" for it mind you... by relative visiting... "oh, don't you cook?"... hah... yes I do.

offmynut · 10/03/2025 09:00

Im on top with all my bills and house work.
