Burnt or cooked?

My colleague says my crumpets are burned and fit for the bin
I say perfectly double toasted, she reckons they should be pale still and floppy

Seems to be a 50/50 split here, so I'm asking you lot!

They're burnt but I also like flabby bacon fat and toast that's just been wafted through a flame 😂

A perfectly toasted and buttered crumpet is a thing of beauty.

They are overcooked. I'd still eat them but they are a bit ruined.

If they were toast, I'd definitely say overdone.

Crispy bacon is an abomination.
Toast should be barely brown.
But crumpets need to be a bit crispy on the outside, while still soft in the middle. Yours look like they might be fine.

Now, if it was me, I would add copious amounts of butter and Philadelphia with a smear of Marmite, but I appreciate that's a bit controversial 😎

They looked raw in real life too.
Luckily it was ds making them, not dh.

For me personally I’d be happy with those if somebody made them for me but I would have left them in for another 30 seconds or so.

For some reason I can’t taste burn on a crumpet but will chuck a slightly too brown piece of toast in the bin without a second though. Can’t stand a pale or chewy crumpet.

Perfectly done, nice and crispy. I can't abide a pale, flabby crumpet.
