Burnt or cooked?

My colleague says my crumpets are burned and fit for the bin
I say perfectly double toasted, she reckons they should be pale still and floppy

Seems to be a 50/50 split here, so I'm asking you lot!

They could tale a little more toasting, I love a crisp crumpet. They definitely hold more butter the more well done they are.

Dc1 would say undercooked, dc2 over cooked and me just right. Dc1 gas own section of toaster for this reason.

Ex-chef here - that was my motto too! Crumpets look just fine to me.

Depends who is eating them surely ?

If they are for you they are fine

If they are for your colleague then no

I'm not sure how he cooked them. He was assembling it as I arrived at his house. I did check that he was still alive the day after!

Oh l have them just like that. Crumpets need to go a tad hard on top when toasted.. let the butter dribble in.😋

It looks like he put them in a pan, thought "fuck it" and microwaved them

I think they're a little burnt. That said, I'd prefer them on the burnt side to pale and flaccid. They should be a golden colour on the top and warm throughout.

I hope you're serving them with lots of salted butter and a scraping of marmite?

They look perfect, a nice crunch, butter, marmite and cheese melted on top. Nothing worse than a pale flaccid crumpet.

Yours are 6% over cooked, but I would take them over flaccid pale ones

Perfect! I despise undercooked crumpets. They taste like washing up sponges. (I would imagine) 🙃🤣

He was making to take to work. There is no way I could eat those, I like mine almost burnt.

They are perfectly cooked. I think crumpets need to be a bit crispy so sometimes almost burned is the only way.

Those sausages look raw.
