What?

Were you on the previous Starmer thread, but name changed for this one?

Flippercanorious · 04/03/2025 10:19

I am another thread about Starmer.

Trump is making a bigly announcement later isn't he? God knows what fresh hell that will entail.

DuncinToffee · 04/03/2025 10:22

From the Guardian article 👏

Under the changes in the employment rights bill, parents in Britain will be granted a right to bereavement leave after suffering a miscarriage, the Guardian revealed.

Mothers and their partners will be given the right to two weeks of bereavement leave if they have suffered a pregnancy loss before 24 weeks’ gestation.

The reforms will also allow 1.3 million of the lowest-paid UK workers will be guaranteed sick pay worth up to 80% of their weekly salary from the first day of sickness.

I thought this was the bigly one? I don’t think I can take any more today.

Flippercanorious · 04/03/2025 10:26

Perhaps you could show me where I sided with Russia?

Notonthestairs · 04/03/2025 10:27

I do wonder quite how panicky Reform HQ must be getting. Even Tim M has spoken out a number of times.

They want the US/Musk money but Trump's politics dont play well here.

I think Trump will announce withdrawal of 20% of US troops currently stationed in Europe - he talked about that in January. But I assume most of the statement will be internal issues/politics.

Ed sp 😉

I am sure there will be loads of women that will say they didnt need leave after their miscarriages (which is fair enough) but on atleast one occasion I would have benefitted from leave. I was a physically and emotionally a mess.

🚨 Lib Dems respond to JD Vance’s comment that Putin will not be deterred by “20,000 troops from some random country that hasn’t fought a war in 30 or 40 years”

Defence spokesperson @helenemaguire.bsky.social, a former Captain in the Royal Military Police who served in Iraq, says:

L/Ds saying what the Government can't really. We need to keep communications open in the hope of a sea change - whilst knowing that there is little chance of Vance in particular walking anything back. Trump doesnt seem to remember what he says one day to the next so who knows.

But insulting the nations who supported them militarily after 9/11 is a particularly low blow.

Llttledrummergirl · 04/03/2025 07:56

I have n words. Ignorant fucker doesn't get anywhere near.
I'm equally as fucking angry with those in America standing by and letting this happen. They claim to be a friend to Europe, but when push comes to shove, they are happy to walk away without a second glance.

That there are no dissenting voices, particularly from leading Democrats tells me this isn't just a MAGA/ Trump issue, the whole lot would happily have sold us out in their turn if they chose.

I have officially run out of expletives. And since my command of both schools of swearing, the obscene and profane, is pretty amazing this is unheard of.
What do we do now?

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s literally that - an agreement between Starmer and Davey that he says what the country really feels while Starmer does t( diplomatic thing.
How dare Vance be so dismissive?

He's just saying what we are all thinking.

cardibach · 04/03/2025 11:26

Did Mr. Stuart express any similar reservations about Boris Johnson I wonder?

DuncinToffee · 04/03/2025 11:34

No idea about Mr Stuart.

Vance has lost the S*n newspaper

OP posts:
cardibach · 04/03/2025 11:42

I have no idea either. But all credit to him for saying it now when there is, in all fairness, a stronger indication.
Vance is an idiot. Glad even the S*n can see it.

BIossomtoes · 04/03/2025 12:14

Stuart was a councillor for an LA I used to work for many years ago and I dealt with him a lot. He’s relatively bright. And definitely saying what we’re all thinking. It’s good to see a united front from all the parties, particularly Starmer and Davey who certainly appear to be working in tandem.
