I have, finally, put up some pictures after buying them over 18 months ago.
I had the prints, I had the frames, I just couldn’t be arsed didn’t have the motivation.

What do you need to do, but have put off, and can you beat 18 months? 🙈

I've beaten you easily.

I purchased a name sign for my daughter's bedroom when I was 8 months pregnant. It's still sitting up in the loft somewhere, she's nearly 4 years old.

LemonPorkLasagna · 22/02/2025 14:09

I also started a jigsaw back in 2022. Got about 1/4 of it done. It's one of those ones that gives you a headache just looking at it.

I've told myself "I'll have it done for Christmas" 3 times now

BleachedJumper · 22/02/2025 14:10

Oh God, I am a procrastinator.

I’ve been on two holidays, one early December and one the first week of January, and I have two suitcases that are laying waiting to be unpacked.

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 22/02/2025 14:11

I bought an expensive set of photos from photoshoot when my daughter was a week old, ready to display in the house.

She turns 16 in a few weeks.....still not up.

OchonAgusOchonOh · 22/02/2025 14:18

Sorry but my mother wins.

She started knitting a jumper for me when I was about 4 or 5. Picked it up again when my sister, who is 6 years younger than me, was around that age. It was picked up again for each of the grandchildren. She finally gave up on it after thae youngest gc got too old for it and didn't bring it out for the great grandchildren. So basically, the jumper was on the go for approximately 40 years.

SnowflakeSmasher86 · 22/02/2025 14:21

I can beat that. I bought a nice frame about 20 years ago. Its propped on a shelf with the original images it came with in each hole as I can’t decide which ones to put in! I had some printed out back when sending off films to be printed was still a thing but I couldn’t choose 5 of the same orientation (landscape or portrait) so I gave up.

stayathomer · 22/02/2025 14:21

A Lego friends set I asked for from my secret Santa five years ago. Have told my kids they can’t do it for me- everyone gets very irrationally angry when they see it but it’s hard and I’m not so bothered now😅

lampshadelampshade · 22/02/2025 14:22

Rehanging my daughter’s wardrobe doors.

Took them off for painting when she was 5 months old. Not sure what I was thinking with an imminent return to full time work and a baby that woke 4 times a night and for the day by 4.30am.

Finally had them professionally painted when she was 2.5 years old. Re-hung 2 months later 😳

Astronautstar · 22/02/2025 14:25

I wrote and sold an article about procrastination while procrastinating about something else.

My DDs is still on the side after 9 yrs!

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 22/02/2025 14:28

No, I'm afraid you don't win.

I haven't unpacked the boxes in our garage yet from when we moved house 16 years ago. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

But I have adhd and procrastination is my specialist subject!

Time40 · 22/02/2025 14:31

Can we win if we never get around to doing things? I've got sewing projects that I've been meaning to do for over twenty years.

WeeAgnes · 22/02/2025 14:34

You're all brilliant, made me laugh and I'm happy to pass the crown on 👑

At the moment, it's with @OchonAgusOchonOh mum 😂

If you have purchased the materials then yes, it definitely counts. Still doesn't beat my mother's jumper though.

If you haven't bought the materials then I don't think you can really count it as I could include my procrastination of learning how to do brain surgery for the past 40 years.

Mind you, if it's something that needs to be done, like painting or fixing a leaky tap, then it probably does count.

I'll make a definite decision tomorrow.

When can she expect you to send the crown on? She's not getting any young and your procrastination tendency won't help there.

I started knitting a little cardigan to give to SIL when she was pregnant with DNephew. I haven't finished it yet. He will be 40 this year.

Ahsheeit · 22/02/2025 14:59

I've had the materials to redecorate my bathroom for 3 years.

Huge painting that I started 6 years ago - canvas still balanced on mantlepiece in front room.

Found the front panel of a jumper I started knitting for my then 6 year old daughter the other day. She's 26 next month.

Maybe you and my mother should share tips.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 22/02/2025 17:43

I bought a poster aiming to frame it at least 4 years ago. It's still in its packaging on my book shelf.

AviationGeek · 22/02/2025 17:43

*A lightbulb to replace from early 2024
*20 years of no barrel in the living room door handle
*Three pictures I've had for a couple of years
*A Christmas decoration that got missed when I took them down

Also procrastination by proxy

*In lockdown it took until December 2020 for my employer to loan me a laptop to work from home. There were hundreds sitting there doing nothing. For 9 months I could only do about a third of my duties, if that.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 22/02/2025 17:45

I also have cross stitch kits that I bought before falling pregnant. DS1 is 15 now and they're in the loft!

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 22/02/2025 17:46

I started a gallery wall during lockdown. Got halfway through, bought the frames for the rest, still haven’t finished it.

Took around 14 years to get a print framed and hung on the wall.

I just did the same after 12 months kind of (pictures are now in frames and propped up rather than hung).

AviationGeek · 22/02/2025 17:51

I've had an idea. Why don't we do one task and come back to record it here? We clearly can't rely on willpower, we have none. A sort of Slimming World weigh in without the judgement 😁

InscrutableFox · 22/02/2025 17:57

I did all reading and write up of a dissertation in 9 days. Submitted a solid 20 minutes before cut off.

Like, I didn't have a clue what my topic, ideas, anything at all was until 9 days prior, as I was having issues with MH, guilt and procrastination... I had no supervision at all due to this (but a champion of a supervisor who covered my arse for me!). I got a 1st, despite starting a full year after I was supposed to begin planning. I've never even read it in full.

Procrastination is major issue for me. I have days where I am frozen to the point I can't even go for a piss, even to the point of pain and accidents. Congratulations on breaking your procrastination freeze! It's the best feeling!
