I have, finally, put up some pictures after buying them over 18 months ago.
I had the prints, I had the frames, I just couldn’t be arsed didn’t have the motivation.

What do you need to do, but have put off, and can you beat 18 months? 🙈

I bought an expensive set of photos from photoshoot when my daughter was a week old, ready to display in the house.

She turns 16 in a few weeks.....still not up.

You win🫅🏽queen procrastinator

When we were buying our house the surveyor found an "urgent" issue to fix. We got it done after 24 years (it clearly wasn't that urgent).

A friend of mine started a jumper for her newborn son and got it finished just in time for his son, her grandson, to wear.

ThymeScent · 23/02/2025 08:00

I’m loving these!! Has made me feel so much better 😀😀thank you!!!

UtterlyOtterly · 23/02/2025 08:09

I've remembered another one.

A friend of ours moved into a pair of old cottages decades ago, with the plan to turn them into one house. The whole place is now beautiful, and the downstairs joining up flows beautifully.

Soon after they moved in, her husband and a friend bashed through the upstairs wall, creating a ragged hole big enough to squeeze through. That ragged hole has never become a proper doorway and they joke about it being a design feature now.

I don't know if anyone follows Caroline Quentin's socials but she is only just utilising vintage fabric she has been carting from house to house for 30 years plus.

Maybe you and my mother should share tips.

My mother's dead.

My mother's dead.

I'm sorry to hear that

Crateoflemsip · 23/02/2025 09:59

@InscrutableFox I was the same, but took about 4 weeks! So hats off to you- that’s a record!

i wrote it in a week- a chapter a day and a conclusion. After 3 weeks collecting everything i needed.

at the end, i realised how much I enjoyed my subject and wished id started earlier

UnderHisEeyore · 23/02/2025 10:02

I removed one of our double sinks to replace as it had cracked. Piping issues behind mean I cannot connect it properly, so it has been completely unusable for nearly 2 years because no one will help me connect it because it won't cost enough. Got to love trades! I have spent hours trying to find plastic piping that would fit but they are all standard sizes and the pipework doesn't marry up.

I once left a jacket on the washing line for a whole year. I can't recall why or how that happened but I remember looking at it regularly and thinking "I must remember to bring that in"

Years ago I left a pair of DH trousers in the ironing basket for months because I hated ironing them. He never asked for them, considered ironing them himself, or even wearing unironed.
When I eventually got them out of the basket to iron, I found there was £90 in the pocket (that had been through the wash)

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 23/02/2025 11:36

A couple of years ago I threw away an unopened packet of lentils with a best before date of 2009. I'd carted them through at least 3 house moves since!

ladygindiva · 23/02/2025 12:18

You're all lightweights. I have framed pictures tucked next to my wardrobe that needs to be hung in my house I moved into TWELVE YEARS AGO

You’d better go check that jacket @Dillythedallyduck 🤣

FindusMakesPancakes · 23/02/2025 16:36

I still have the curtain material I bought for my first child's nursery. He is at university now.

I also have my grandfathers stamp collection to sort out. He died over 25 years having given it to me and asked me to do it for him about 10 years before that. One day... When I am retired...

Moominsmoo · 23/02/2025 16:43

Thank you OP ! I often feel a failure, useless etc as I too procrastinate massively. I really thought EVERYONE else leads instagram perfect lives and is on top of everything and has a clean home and their DIY doesn’t suck.
SO nice to hear about various broken sinks, unmade kids clothes etc. you’ve even inspired me to (just look, let’s not do anything hasty) at the horrible hole left in the wall by the man who mended the shower. Maybe I could slap polyfilla in it for another 10 years,😀
Hurrah!

I have so many things I need to do

I regularly make lists (it's an excuse to get on my phone longer) of things I MUST do. I never do them. Making a list is the closest I get

I had a list for today. Did none of it 🙄

Don't even feel guilty now

Oh the 'to do' list, the never ending 'to do' list. I wonder what would happen if I never made another list again? Probably nothing, but nothing gets done when I make a list anyway.

It sits there mocking me, piling on the guilt for watching another YouTuber who made a video on a first class flight or checking that Mumsnet thread that I'm invested in.......

Moominsmoo · 23/02/2025 19:17

Well redglitterandaviation I am with you. Shower hole didn’t even get looked at, instead I weeded, tidied, washed, folded, loaded dishwasher, cooked the veg, hubby cooked the main! Listened to MIL moan about ewww, and FIL moan about ewww. Now procrastinating from life in my lovely lovely bed.

TickingAlongNicely · 23/02/2025 19:19

Ashamed to say I cleaned my entire living living and decluttered a cupboard today.
Plus binned a pile of stuff we had designated for the bin err last year? (Unneeded work supplies)

ErrolTheDragon · 23/02/2025 19:38

I thought about getting rid of the 40yo partial wooly but ....nah.

LemograssLollipop · 23/02/2025 19:49

I recently found fabric and cotton I bought when my DD was a baby. The intention was to make a cover for the pillow insert on the IKEA high chair, the ones that are red and blue stripes. I think I thought I would be an earth mother type on mat leave , sewing and cooking and baking and being wholesome.

The fabric never left the bag it came in. Dd is 9. The high chair long gone.

Also I never got round to approving the proofs for the our wedding photos so we have no photo album. That was in 2012 😐 Massive waste of money.

You’ve definitely set the bar high! 😆 I’ve had a DIY project sitting untouched for over two years—at this point, it’s basically part of the decor.

WeeAgnes · 24/02/2025 08:41

I'm on a roll! I framed 2 more pictures yesterday(but currently on the dining table and not on a wall 😉).
And I am finally going to do some food shopping.
We've survived since Friday because we've been out for dinner and to the in-laws, who love to feed us!
No excuse yet today though...

@Moominsmoo I tend to think IG'ers tend to have one very carefully curated and "dressed" room just for the posts.
How's the shower hole looking? 😁
