I have, finally, put up some pictures after buying them over 18 months ago.
I had the prints, I had the frames, I just couldn’t be arsed didn’t have the motivation.

What do you need to do, but have put off, and can you beat 18 months? 🙈

If you have purchased the materials then yes, it definitely counts

Oh yes, I've purchased the materials! Lots of them. And the patterns. Years and years of buying things and then not using them. (I do do things sometimes ... I just don't do as many things as I intend to do, and the undone things gradually build up into a lifetime's Pile of Good Intentions. (One day I intend to use the beautiful green silk polka-dot dress length my mum bought in the 50s and never got around to using ... I've added much of my late mother's lifetime undone pile to mine because, you know how it is ... there were some lovely fabrics in there. Can we include inter-generational procrastination? If we can, some of these things could end up being undone for a century.)

Lived in our current house for 5 years in a few months time. Still haven't unpacked quite a few boxes.

wendywoopywoo222 · 22/02/2025 18:10

I started a crossstitch for a freinds baby. Just needed to add the name and date. It's still waiting and said baby is 26.

I think you are currently leading the posse with your mother's material. 70 years definitely beats by mother's jumper.

I started painting the internal doors in our house two years ago. They still aren’t done. I mean doors half painted 😂 looks awful

MyFlightWasAwfulThanksForAsking · 22/02/2025 18:18

Now I don't feel so bad about my new bedroom curtains that have been draped over a chair since last May!

Winter42 · 22/02/2025 18:22

I made some applique pictures whilst pregnant to frame and hang in the new babies room. Still not got round to it. He is 15 now and not sure he would want them.

It's funny how there's several cross stitch projects not completed (these jumped out as I'm also part of this crew!) So far the majority seem to be craft or DIY!
The kitchen light blew and I drove past B&Q twice a day so easily could've stopped and grabbed a replacement (was one of those long strip ones so not sold everywhere) sold the house 4yrs later with the bulb still needing replacing

I also started a jigsaw back in 2022. Got about 1/4 of it done. It's one of those ones that gives you a headache just looking at it.

I've told myself "I'll have it done for Christmas" 3 times now

Also have one of these. I also have 3 more smaller, less hard jigsaws that I refuse to start, because I won't just give up on the one I haven't touched in 3 years

TickingAlongNicely · 22/02/2025 18:28

We bought a mirror when we furnished our first flat.
We took it on 6 house moves across three countries before we hung it in our current house. 13 years later.

WeeAgnes · 22/02/2025 18:28

@AviationGeek That's a great idea!
So I can be super smuggy McSmugFace by saying TODAY I have ticked off one of my to-do things 😊

@OchonAgusOchonOh please pass my apologies to your dear mum.
I had totally planned to send the crown this very afternoon but then I got side tracked by going through the fridge to see what needed to go on that list.
We got home from holiday on Friday so there's a big fat nothing (I knew that already!), but of course writing the list seemed far more appealing than actually going to the shops, which, if I had gone, I could've posted the crown too... 😆

Oh! I can join tbe jigsaw crew, but I can be smuggy here too because I bought mine just before Christmas <ahem> 2023 but I have sorted out the edges AND I have the four corner pieces AND I bought a proper jigsaw roll up mat thing, which is still in it's South American river packaging...

In fairness, her reign was very short, with @Time40 now leading the race. Unless of course we decide that intergenerational procrastination doesn't count.

We should have a meeting to decide. Maybe next week?

We can't schedule a meeting until we decide what biscuits to bring.

And that's a hard one to decide. Definitely not custard creams.

We can wait until I have actually gone to the shops, then we’ll see what I come back with.
Definitely not custard creams though, I fully agree on that point.
I still haven’t ventured out yet.
I had much better things to do like posting on MN hanging up my pictures from a year and a half ago.
Of course.

What's wrong with custard creams? That's what I'm bringing to the meeting (assuming I actually make it to the shop to buy them....)

Or maybe we could all think about getting some biscuits and then think about deciding who's in charge of biscuits before you do that.

Bleuch. Worst biscuit ever.

I'm in favour of bringing garibaldi.

Time40 · 22/02/2025 19:07

Hmmmm. I hope you're joking. Goodness, isn't choosing the right biscuits tricky? It could take weeks to decide.

WeeAgnes · 22/02/2025 19:08

I’m voting for those gorgeously crisp cinnamony things from IKEA. Haven’t the foggiest what they’re called.
Might just make a trip there to pick up a packet or 5.
Whilst I’m there, I suppose I could also get those things on my IKEA list, which includes, hah! more frames.
I like this. It’s like we’ve come full circle.

Anyone want anything while I’m there?
Tealights? Food bags? A Billy bookcase?

I purchased a name sign for my daughter's bedroom when I was 8 months pregnant. It's still sitting up in the loft somewhere, she's nearly 4 years old.

😆😆😆

I have found my people

cariadlet · 22/02/2025 19:09

We bought a massive mirror to add a bit of light to a room when we were selling our house.

Moved into our current house and thought it would fit perfectly over the fireplace but it was big and heavy and we couldn't be bothered to hang it up.

It spent at least 10 years shoved behind the settee.

Then dd found it and wanted it for her bedroom. She's had it standing in the corner of her room for the last few years, leaning against the wall.

It still hasn't been hung up.

Do I win?

AuraBora · 22/02/2025 19:10

I don't know where to start with all the various photos and pictures needing hanging/moving...by the time I get round to it my kids will be adults!

The one that bothers me the most is one wall in our bedroom which we had to damp treat and have replastered - it is like a white painted wall. The other 3 walls are green but I've never been able to find the same paint and don't have anything I can take as a sample to colour match. Hence about 3 years on its still unpainted and looks shit!
