I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot, after feeding the dickheads kittens. Boy kitten's now perched on the microwave, and girl's playing with something in the living room.

We haven't got much planned for today. I have peg people to finish varnishing for work and another set to try and finish, and we were going to have an hour or two making some bracelets to trade/give away at Gracie Abrams Leeds gig.

Other than that, cleaning up the plant the kittens have tipped over, and collecting a parcel, today will be a very moochy & slow day.

Tea will probably be a takeaway, with a glass or two of wine for me. Then I'll get comfy with my book for a couple of hours while dd1 will probably watch another film - she watched The Craft last night - and dd2 will probably carry on with some prep for an exam on Friday.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning. Just me and dd10 are up at the moment, dh and dd20 are both at work and dd17 and her girlfriend are both asleep upstairs after getting in late from a concert last night.

I’ve just put the first load of washing in (got another 3 to do) and I’m on the sofa in my pjs with a cup of tea and dd10 is eating her breakfast as she’s only just got up.

I need to get myself showered and dressed soon as dd10 has arranged to meet all her dance friends at the local trampoline park at 10am so I’ll be taking her there and hanging around drinking terrible tea til she finishes at 11.30am then we’ll come back home. I’ll do some cleaning as the house is a state then this afternoon I need to go and pick up my new glasses and dd10 is off to a school friend’s for a sleepover.

Tea tonight is hot chicken baguettes and dh is off to the pub later. Dd17’s best friend (been friends since they were 4) is coming round and staying tonight and her friend has asked if we can have a wine and film night as she hasn’t seen us for a while - she calls me and dh her second parents so when she comes round she wants to see us all, not just dd17 which is lovely - so I’ll be spending time with them this evening before sloping off to bed around 10.30pm and leaving them to it.

Morning Lucysmam and all of MN.

I'm up and showered (early for me) as I've got the hairdresser at 10. I truly hate going to the hairdresser, it's a sensory nightmare for me, but I start a new job next week and need a change- getting all the length lopped off and dyed brunette (currently pink).

Mini golf and lunch at Dobbies with DC and SIL and kids and the PILs too, then a chilled afternoon at home with all of them before go karting tonight. DC and my nephews are absolutely buzzing about it, I'm nervous for them (especially the littlest) but I know they'll have the best time.

Tonight will be a quick tea as we won't be home til 7- maybe grab a McDonalds actually?

CatteryCatss · 22/02/2025 09:19

Good morning. We had loft insulation put in and trickle vents installed in our house yesterday. We have to do a big clean today because there is dust everywhere! That’ll be our main focus today.

I’ll FaceTime my DM later on and then spend some time with DP.

RabbitsRock · 22/02/2025 09:19

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. How can it be the weekend again?! Amused by what was crossed out on your post lucysmam 🤣 I’m in bed having had 2 cuppas, the first made by me & the 2nd by DH before he went to work. He finishes at lunchtime today. Nothing planned for this morning. Dishwasher needs unloading/loading & I should dust the lounge, particularly as you can write your name in the dust on the piano! I was super organised & did next week’s meal plan last night. Trying to do fewer food shops as I have a tendency to do a top up & spend about £40! Do need to get the ingredients for a slow cooker Thai green chicken curry which we’ll have on Tuesday. Using a different recipe which I think will be a bit more exciting than the last one, although it was very tasty & dead easy to throw together. Tonight we’re having Quorn fillets, double cream mash & broccoli. Think you can pan fry the fillets. This afternoon I’m going to sit with DM whilst DF plays golf, weather permitting. Sunny here in Cornwall atm. Looking forward to BGT this evening. DH is going to help me set up my new bedside radio alarm clock. We know how to live 🤣🤣🤣 DD16 will no doubt emerge very late morning/early afternoon. Oh & just remembered that DH has asked me to feed the bunnies & let 2 of them out so I’ll do that as soon as I’m dressed.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 22/02/2025 09:22

Morning @lucysmam :)

Slow day for us as we're just back from being away over the half term. I need to do a food shop and forgot to put in an Ocado order so think we'll brave Sainsburys in a bit. DS is thrilled (grocery shop = reason to look at and beg for a new hotwheels). Debating also popping in to M&S for some new uniform bits he's grown out of but not sure I can be asked - may just get them off Vinted instead.

Then will be an afternoon of lots washing and lots of Disney+! Will probably make homemade pizzas and cookies together for dinner. I also want to finish building my lego castle from Christmas and see if I can find my very unused iron somewhere in the cupboard as there's a dress I want to wear for a work event this week and to say its wrinkly is an understatement.

Then have a babysitter tonight after DS is asleep to go to a games night in one of our local cafes with a friend. Kind of regretting booking it now as I'm feeling super tired already! But I'm sure it will be fun.

MrsAvocet · 22/02/2025 09:24

It's my DD's wedding and currently I am praying madly that the blue skies I can see right now last for a few more hours!

frozendaisy · 22/02/2025 09:28

Morning all
Just letting the coffee kick in
Football super early and super far away so just me and eldest who isn't up yet so might have a shower and drag him to butcher's shortly!

Probably do home made burgers with potato salad, green salad later
Really fancy apple crumble so might do one of those.

Have additional teenager, perhaps two, later and will be doing "geography quiz" hold back your excitement!

Obviously all depends if there are no sporting injuries to attend to!

(I personally like a kitten with attitude)

ssd · 22/02/2025 09:36

Morning all. We are poorly in this house today, do just going to take it easy.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 22/02/2025 09:39

Good morning Lucysmam and others. MrsAvocet all the best for the wedding. I'll keep my fingers crossed for blue skies.
I've had two coffees and a slice of toast, showered, stripped the bed and sorted out the washing. I'm heading out to dgs1's sixth birthday party which is bowling. I will sit and applaud. Later I'll take his presents round. Then the rest of the day will be pottering. Enjoy your day all

ssd · 22/02/2025 09:41

lucysmam · 22/02/2025 09:48

@Kim82 who did they see? We love a gig/concert in this house 🎶. Your 17yo's best friend sounds like dd1's best friend 😊

@PenniesButton good luck with the hairdresser!

@RabbitsRock they are absolute dickheads lately - very toddler like 🤣🙈

@LittleRedRidingHoody you've reminded me, I wanted to hunt Vinted for a very specific top! I'll do that shortly - must get dressed & get out the acrylic sealer first!

@frozendaisy they both come with plenty of attitude!

Getting ready to go out for the day with some friends I haven’t seen in ages and I’ve been so looking forward to it. Weather is meant to brighten up later on so hopefully a drink or two by the river!

It's my DD's wedding and currently I am praying madly that the blue skies I can see right now last for a few more hours!

Hope she gets her blue skies and you all have the most amazing day! We had thunderstorms all day for my wedding but people talk about it fondly!
I’m just out the shower and about start my skincare routine- it’s been a bit awry during half term. Then DH will pick DD up from gymnastics. I’ve completed some finishing touches to her bedroom while she was out so hoping she likes them.
Then into the city to meet my friend for coffee and a walk round the local park. After that we will pack DD’s bag as she in hospital tomorrow for a procedure.
Vegan Indian tonight in the city with PIL and MIL!
Have a great day everyone!

mamaduckbone · 22/02/2025 09:53

Good morning @lucysmam and mumsnet!

I've had a lazy start after a bad night's sleep - my running buddy couldn't make it today so I've completely failed to be motivated by myself. I'm currently drinking coffee and watching the birds in the garden. Dh is cutting his hair (clippers- he's not some sort of expert home barber!) and ds2 is in the shower.

I bought some plants and bulbs at the garden centre yesterday and we've got loads of clearing to do so it's going to be a gardening day, until the rugby is on then it'll be down tools and watch that.
No idea what's for dinner, so that will need sorting at some point.

I've just learned to crochet so I'll do a bit more of that this evening - I can feel an obsession coming on!

Mayismymonth · 22/02/2025 09:53

Morning @lucysmam and everyone. Currently enjoying not having to leap out of bed. Later we’re off to a football match before a pub dinner with friends 😃. Enjoy your day.

Thislittlekitten · 22/02/2025 09:54

Morning gang.

@lucysmam I remember the kitten days well 🙈
@MrsAvocet Have a wonderful day.

I’ve just dropped DS at his club. Having a cup
of tea in a cafe just now then will head into town for a few chores.

DS has friends round this afternoon. DD is going out. DH is away today. I’ll try tidy up a bit.

Tonight I’m thinking take away.

mamaduckbone · 22/02/2025 09:56

@MrsAvocet how exciting! Have a wonderful day.

Dueanamechange2025 · 22/02/2025 09:58

DDs football match this morning, top of the league clash so should be a good one.

Then heading to the shops to pick up a few new pieces of clothes as I’ve lost almost 2.5st now and my clothes are starting to looks bit silly!

Probably go to Iceland to pick up a few freezer staples and have sausage & mash planned for tea.

MonkeyTennis34 · 22/02/2025 10:05

Just finished breakfast, Wordle and checked emails.

Will go up for a shower in a bit then I'm off with my Lab for a meet up with an old friend I haven't seen in years with her Lab on the beach.
We'll give the dogs a good run then go for a coffee.

After that, I'll come home and catch up on some washing, chivvy DS2 along with his A level revision then give the pooch another walk at 4:30ish.

Me and DH are meeting friends for a Thai meal this evening, DCs will order in.

Weather is pants here.

MonkeyTennis34 · 22/02/2025 10:07

@MrsAvocet
Oh wow! Have a superb day!!

DilemmaDelilah · 22/02/2025 10:11

Good morning @lucysmam and everybody. @MrsAvocet what an exciting day for you!!!!! Years ago I remember tidying up my sister's eyebrows the day before her wedding and telling her that if she didn't make a fuss it would be a sunny day for her wedding. It was!

I'm a bit fuzzy in the mind this morning. I woke up about half an hour ago after finally getting to sleep around 5am. I've had at least a week of good sleep so it was unexpected. Nothing is planned for today - at some time some tidying up will be done, some laundry sorted, and I will do some knitting. I also need to put away the box that is now full of yarn, knitting needles and crochet hooks that I got out to tempt my middle grandson with. We ended up looking after him for 2 days of my annual leave last week and as he had expressed a wish to learn how to knit I had gone on a hunt for yarn and knitting needles. I posted last week about my exciting haul. Well.... It turns out that he does not have the patience or the sticking power to actually try to learn. Mr Dilemma told me it was my teaching style, which I found very upsetting, but then he decided he would have a go at teaching him using YouTube videos and THAT lasted about 5 minutes!
So I now have quite a stash of various kinds of non-matching wool.

However... there is a small silver lining. Mr Dilemma got very excited about the second hand craft store and wants to go there again, so we might do that later.

We do actually have one thing planned for this evening - we're going to the theatre to see an improvised musical comedy show. We usually go early so that we can park close by, and eat at the theatre. Disappointingly since Covid their only food option has been pizza, and only 4 options of that so I end up with cheese and tomato every time as I loath goats cheese and pepperoni. There is a ham and mushroom version but I'm not keen on mushrooms and it has about 4 bits of ham on it so not worth spending the extra money on. If we eat first and go there later we have to walk miles (something I just can't do) and then there are no seats left in the bar area (or anywhere else) and I can't stand for very long. So - going early for vastly overpriced cheese and tomato pizza it is...... I wonder if anyone would notice if I took my own onion to sprinkle on top.... maybe not at the time but the people sitting next to us in the theatre probably would, so I should probably not do that.

A couple of years ago there was a woman sitting at least 4 rows away and several seats to the side who was very smelly indeed. The type who wears expensive clothes in natural fabrics, with artfully styled dreadlocks (she was white) and who doesn't believe in antiperspirant or anything but natural deodorant (which REALLY didn't work!). Every time she got up, which she did a lot because little Tarquin and Amelia needed to stretch their legs - in the main aisle - while people were trying to get to their seats - there was this huge waft of hot smelly person. She probably also thought that it was unnecessary to wash clothes more than once a year too. They were definitely expensive clothes, I could tell. And I could smell.

Well, that's this morning's bitchfest done. I put it down to lack of sleep. If you are Ms Unwashed, I'm sorry I was so rude about you, but PLEASE wash properly, with soap, and wear clean clothes before going out to sit in close proximity to others. And PLEASE keep your children under control, for their own safety of nothing else! At this theatre there is a back door from the bar to an area of grass, and just across the road there is a beautiful arboretum. Take them there to stretch their legs before the performance - it's what I used to do with my own (beautifully behaved) children.
