Farage commented 20 hours after Badenoch had - and she wasnt exactly quickly off the mark.

DuncinToffee · 21/02/2025 09:44

Farage minimised the comments by claiming they should not be taken “absolutely literally”.

And he is well aware why there aren't elections in Ukraine

Britain to offer EU youth mobility scheme in Brexit reset talks

The ‘Australian-style’ agreement would allow tens of thousands of young EU citizens to live and work in the UK for up to three years

Love this.

As someone who worked around the EU for many years post college and got some great life experience I'm so glad to see this decision.

Didn't originally plan to come back with a 2yo but the freedom of movement allowed me to become resident of the country I met my DP (now ex) in and work and pay tax/NI etc there.

I think its very early doors but I'm pleased there is movement on this.
The UK wants to cap numbers and include an NHS surcharge as per the Australian set up. I imagine there will be EU pushback on both.

It is a negotiating chip which shouldnt be seen in isolation from other issues.
But given the wider political landscape I hope both sides will be looking to reach agreement wherever they can.

Farage was on his way to America?

Notonthestairs · 21/02/2025 10:18

Yes. First ARC Conference and then CPAC.

Ed Davey comments on Starmer talking to Trump #r4today
Acknowledges the difficulty of his position but stresses the need to be firmly honest and to protect our interests. Managing to be both supportive and oppositional.

That’s some trick of Davey’s.

Who else remembers being told that we'd be able to get a train from Edinburgh to Paris direct in the mid 80s ?

Farage is our equivalent of Lord Haw Haw or Oswald Mosley

SerendipityJane · 21/02/2025 15:43

Pressure on Farage continues.

New from YouGov:

67% of Brits say that they both want Ukraine to win and care a great deal or fair amount that it does so.

But one in ten Reform voters (10%) say that they want Russia to win, compared to 2-5% of voters from the other parties.

So every time one of them pops up anywhere,. we can call them a Russian stooge with justification.

Imagine how pissed off Farage must be that his latest vanity project is being tanked by his "allies". I doubt he appreciates the irony.

Powerful. Tomorrow’s front page of the most influential weekly publication in Germany.

“BETRAYED. First Zelensky, Soon Us? The radical departure of the US from its allies.”

Wow that's some headline.

PuttingouttheFirewithGasoline · 21/02/2025 23:26

Well very powerful for zelensky yes but the piggybacking on such a brave man for Germany is cringe worthy, first him, then us??

Us who rely on Russian gas and have not stepped up as we the European power house have been asked too?

Newsnight just interviewed the deputy of the AFD. That was scary and she didn't have the depth of thinking to comprehend what she was saying.

She wants to send Afghanistan women back to Afghanistan because there is no war there.

It wouldn't surprise me! Nothing would in the current climate.

Though my own feeling is that he is suffering from some form of Dementia/Paranoia.... Remember when he suggested drinking/injecting bleach could be a cure for Covid?

He now seems to be back pedaling on Zelenskyy.
