For how long do you feel clean after a shower?

I shower every morning, if money/time allowed I would probably have another shower before bed.
I feel like maybe a few hours after I shower/bathe Iose the 'clean' feeling, I definitely don't smell (wash scrupulously and use a strong deodorant/antiperspirant) but I definitely don't feel clean anymore!
Am I odd or does anyone else understand what I mean?

I shower every morning and evening. It’s not that I feel grubby to begin with, but I would definitely feel grubby if I went to bed without having a shower, or got dressed in the morning without a shower.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 16/02/2025 19:46

I’m a bath dodger.

But even after a shower I don’t feel ‘clean’. I feel the same. I don’t find showers ‘cleansing’, I’m just wetter than I previously was.

But I’d probably uncover some deep-rooted psychological issues if I ponder the matter any further. So I won’t.

TourangaLeila · 16/02/2025 19:49

Around 24hours when I need another shower.

NancyJoan · 16/02/2025 19:53

At this time of year I only shower in the morning, unless I’m going out in the evening. In the summer I shower twice a day. I could never get up and go out without a shower, even if I’m going straight out to do exercise.

RosesAndHellebores · 16/02/2025 19:57

I feel fine for 24 hours. However, one of the joys of being many years post menopause is that I sweat significantly less than I used to.

I shower at night. At the height of summer I will have a quick freshen up in the morning.

I think it's a bit odd to feel the need to be 'just out of the shower' squeaky clean at all times tbh. Once a day is easily enough. It's ok (and normal) to smell like a human being, not a bottle of shower gel.

steelingmyself · 16/02/2025 19:58

Not very long but I have young children!

Sandcastles24 · 16/02/2025 20:00

I feel really clean clean only for about an hour or two at the most.
its not that I am dirty after that rather I m normal.
I think it is when I stop smelling the shower products because they fade or I m desensitised to them

Sandcastles24 · 16/02/2025 20:01

Not sure if that is what you mean reading the other posts. I am not suggesting I need another shower after an hour

39424everx · 16/02/2025 20:03

Two showers a week, any more than that and my skin would be itching, it being winter.
Stripping away the natural oils in your skin is not good in the winter, very different in the summer when it's so humid that you get sticky with perspiration.
Water and heating the water is expensive so we all try to limit hot water consumption.

GameOfJones · 16/02/2025 20:04

24 hours feels absolutely fine to me. I shower every day around 6pm. When I get home from work it's shower and straight into pyjamas as part of my evening routine.

In summer I may also shower in the morning if it's been a hot night and I feel sweaty when I wake up but only for literally 60 seconds or so as a quick body wash.

MyUmberSeal · 16/02/2025 20:06

I shower every morning and have a bath every night. Never used to like baths but have rediscovered the joy of them as I’ve got older. I like having a clean slate when I get into bed so like feeling clean and fresh. Showering in the morning is a given, I would think, for most people. Feel really clean for the first couple of hours but then start to look forward to the bath in the evening.

GroovyChick87 · 16/02/2025 20:07

I bathe or shower morning and evening. I feel gross in the morning getting up. I'm not as grubby by evening unless it's summer and I'm sweaty but my arse crack and vulva definitely need freshening up so I will bathe. I don't smell but I just don't feel right getting into bed without it.

ClassicalQueen · 16/02/2025 20:08

Until the next day.

TheLurpackYears · 16/02/2025 20:10

3 days? But it's more that my hair has always been a bit greasy.
My life is tediously sedentary these days, I almost never work up a sweat and I don't have anyone to get naked with so it doesn't really matter.

Pebbles16 · 16/02/2025 20:10

Pre WFH times I showered in the evenings to get the tube/work/city smell gone and still felt fairly fresh in the morning.
Now in my menopausal haze and not commuting every day, I shower in the mornings. I could not in all good conscience shower more than once a day unless I was sick. Only have three minute showers but it is a waste of water.
I use a lovely moisturising lotion after my shower which stays all day and gives me a refreshing zing for hours - currently rocking the rhubarb smell!

NattyTurtle59 · 16/02/2025 20:14

What a weird question! I have never considered how 'clean' I feel after a shower, or how long that feeling lasts. Probably because I have more interesting things to think about Confused

AcquadiP · 16/02/2025 20:17

I showered 5 hours ago and feel clean and fresh. I use Nesti Dante triple milled soap and the smell lasts for ages. I find the clean feeling lasts longer with soap than shower gel.

user1471453601 · 16/02/2025 20:21

I shower twice a week, following the advice of my consultant. I don't exercise (as if I could ,😁) so I don't sweat. I also have some symptoms of Horners Disease which means I cannot sweat on one side of my body (nor does it get cold).

But I feels clean. I use an antibacterial wipe every other day, I don't smell also

MixedBananas · 16/02/2025 20:23

I worked in the NHS and as soon as I got home jump in the shower clothes straight in the washing machine. Grosses me out to not be clesn before getting into my bed or living space.
I go to bed clean and I feel clean when I wake up but after a few hours at work I feel gross and the cycle continues 😂

To you wash with soap and water when you use the toilet?

BatInATopHat · 16/02/2025 20:27

Really hope those only showering a couple of times a week are washing their fannies at least every day!

I shower every morning and have a bath each night. The bath is filled with oil or bath milk and is for relaxation purposes - the morning shower is for getting clean

Between the two, I feel pretty clean most of the time

henlake7 · 16/02/2025 20:30

Depends how sweaty I am. I generally feel clean all day until my next shower in the winter (unless I've exercised).
That's one of the worst things about a hot summer....when you hop out the shower and start getting sweaty whilst drying off!

Springadorable · 16/02/2025 20:37

Probably until I'm dry. Then I just feel normal.

Marble10 · 16/02/2025 20:42

Not very long, I'm quite obsessive about it. Sometimes even after I've dried my hair I feel a bit sticky and it makes me think I'm dirty.
I shower in the mornings and bath every night. I don't feel clean enough just by showering.
Don't understand how people are only showering a few times a week, the bums and bits cannot be squeaky clean by a minimal amount
