I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot, in silence 😊. I've just seen dd1 out on her way to meet her friends...in London 😱. She's dressed more for summer, but what do I know!?

When I've drunk my cuppa, I'm going to have a snooze on the sofa, while half keeping an eye on her location.

When I get up, there's washing to be done & last night's pots to wash. Other than that, a nice, quiet day is in order I think. I'm knackered after a busy week & dd2 is full of cold. I'll probably potter round doing odd jobs & make a start on some peg dolls for next half term's display at work.

Dd2 will have homework to be done, so I'll suggest she comes and sits with me to do it. She'll probably do it in her bedroom though.

Later on, it'll be leftover takeaway for tea, showers all round, and then I'll pick up my book for an hour or two reading before bed 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

I'm going to have a go at making bucket hats for the various small people in the family. I sew a lot but hats are a first for me.

Oceansriseempiresfall · 08/02/2025 08:27

I'm having a cup of tea in bed and I've got my sunlight lamp on to wake me up. Dds are playing in the new sensory tent in their bedroom and have been getting along nicely all morning which is new and brilliant. Dh is watching YouTube downstairs. We might all go to the cinema later to watch a kids film. What book are you reading at the moment @lucysmam ? I'm looking for book inspiration!

AdaColeman · 08/02/2025 08:34

How did the wedding go @lucysmam? I hope it all went smoothly to plan, and everyone had a lovely day.

BitOutOfPractice · 08/02/2025 08:37

Morning! Ah I can feel the peace from this thread calling me.

I too have a quiet day. I shall go to the gym, do some cleaning, and I have an eye test at 4pm. Off to the cinema tonight to see the film about the Munich olynpics kidnappings. I can’t recall the title.

FayKnights · 08/02/2025 08:42

Morning Saturday Lovelies

I've just had a quick bath and now back in bed with a cuppa, but will get ready shortly to get out and meet pals for coffee and I need to pick up some odds and sods.

Usual dog walk and potter about later, I need to finish my meal plan and online food shop for Sunday.

@Oceansriseempiresfall can I please ask which sunlamp you use?

Hope your DD has a good time in London @lucysmam, so much to see and do ❤️

Have a good day all!

itsallbowlsbaby · 08/02/2025 08:49

Still in bed! DS had a late one so is laying in his bed on his Switch. Got a kids party 11-1pm in town so we'll go for a mooch afterwards and he might spend some birthday pennies. Then home, walk the dog, DS on his bike and then home to carry on painting his volcano. DH doing lamb tagine for tea, then Gladiators, Masked Singer and the last episode of the Boyzone doc once DS is in bed. Bloody lovely.

I’ve been for a run this morning (in London), I can confirm we do not have summer weather! I went out for food with friends last night then we went out out, so I’m tired this morning and I have a few mystery bruises.

My mums on her way with her oldest so we’re having a family day together, he has ASD and dislikes traveling, so its the first time her and ‘the boys’ as she call all three of us have been together for a while. My husband and the kids are flying over today as well, so it will be nice for mum to have everyone together. When everyones here we’re going to Clissold park for a walk around.

Have a nice saturday

Hedgesfullofbirds · 08/02/2025 08:53

Just been outside to hang out some washing, feed the chickens, top up the bird feeders and prepare to remove a large branch from the huge oak tree, in my garden, which is starting to cast too much shade over the greenhouse - should be done by lunchtime!

This afternoon, and into early evening, intending to carry on with lime plastering my stairwell and landing area, then steak and chips for dinner and an hour or so in front of the fire with a good book.

Purplecatshopaholic · 08/02/2025 08:53

Lying in bed relaxing with three of my dogs. Faffing about on MN, chatting with friends, and watching YouTube. Bloody Bliss after a hard week. Plenty to do later but for now it’s a bit of Me Time..

cardibach · 08/02/2025 08:54

Off to Bristol to buy a solid silver head joint for my flute! I'm very excited. I have recently picked up playing it seriously again and this is my reward and incentive to continue.

typicaltuesdaynight · 08/02/2025 08:56

Just in from a nightshift , I should be sleeping as I need to get up again at 10.30 as my youngest ds birthday part at 12! His birthday isn't till tomorrow. Come home around 2 and just chill movie night tonight . Need to finish his cake later on but won't take long

LightCameraBitchSmile · 08/02/2025 08:57

I'm up and off to the seaside with friends today. Why we thought a febuary trip was a good idea I don't know...

We've got a lovely pub booked for lunch and I'll be back by 6ish for a snuggly evening in alone. It's been a mad week of work, dead dates, nights out and late gym classes so I'm very behind on love island!!

@Simonjt you're my neighbour! I'm currently sat at Stokey station waiting for the overground. Agree on the weather!

IroningBoardAgainstTheWall · 08/02/2025 08:59

Just finished clearing from breakfast (omelettes), DD6 is watching TV, I'm drinking coffee at the table and waiting for my sister to arrive in the next half hour.

We have no idea what we're doing, but might go down to the lakes and take a walk.

LittleRedRidingHoody · 08/02/2025 08:59

Morning all,

Off for an impromptu beach day today. Just having some toast before getting everyone bundled up, and on our way. Already dreaming of the Starbucks drive through en route 😋

DS is hell bent on building a sandcastle so will definitely spend some time on the beachfront, as well as I imagine the playground and a healthy amount of time in the arcade. DM is coming with and is excited for chips!

piscofrisco · 08/02/2025 08:59

Good morning @lucysmam and all.

Lord, it's freezing today even in London. Tell her to put a coat on!! Grin

I am still in bed with one dog, who is a princess and won't go out yet. The other two are up with DH, who is making bacon and sausages in the kitchen. Both DSS's still asleep, dd1 has just, (very grumpily) gone to work. Dd2 was out for the night in Cambridge last night. She has a job interview at 4, and then we are driving to see my poorly Dad in Derbyshire for the night. Before that Dh and I will take the boys to St Albans to see the giant moon installation in the cathedral, spend about a million pounds on cheese in the market and get a bit of lunch.
It's grey and cold here and I work outdoors, and have been cold for most of the week. So I'm staying in bed another half an hour at least!

Seaside is great in the spring. No annoying noisy families, but still get the spring sunshine and a bracing walk and the excuse to eat chips and hot chocolate 😁😁

dontforgetme · 08/02/2025 09:00

Good morning @lucysmam and all!

Just had my first cuppa, about to make a second. Bagels and scrambled egg for breakfast then we have some DIY to do. New shelves and new lights to put up. I say we... I mean dp has some DIY to do Grin

Kids are watching YouTube currently but will get them rounded up and do some crafts after breakfast.

Family over tonight for a curry night and I can't bloody wait! My Nan's brother passed away in the week so we will be raising a glass to him. Definitely made me realise how extremely lucky I am to have my nan and grandad still alive and well. My children are old enough to have and remember some amazing memories with the 2 best people.

Have lovely Saturday's all.

Simonjt · 08/02/2025 09:00

@LightCameraBitchSmile its so dull isn’t it, I’ll be there in about half an hour to hear about my mums awful journey (she isn’t at all dramatic…).

DilemmaDelilah · 08/02/2025 09:04

Good morning @lucysmam . I've just finished my breakfast in bed and am contemplating not getting up for a while. I'm quite cold, so Mr Dilemma has put my electric hot water bottle on to charge and that will be ready by the time I have finished this.

We had a busy day yesterday, hospital appointment for me first thing, then we went to IKEA where we went through both floors rather than just the market hall, and we had lunch. I had a brief rest when we got home, then we nipped out to pick up a toy kitchen for when smallest grandson comes to stay.

The IKEA visit was prompted by a decision to make the tiny room which is currently my office into a proper single spare room, and I am getting very excited about it. I love designing and decorating - although there isn't actually that much to do in there - it's more a matter of how best to use the very small space. It's one of those rooms built above the stairwell so it has a big box in the corner where the slope of the stairs is. That is where the bed will be.

The toy kitchen prompted some 'discussion' with Mr Dilemma - who doesn't like toys cluttering up the place. He was somewhat mollified by us picking up another malm chest of drawers in IKEA in which he can store yet more of his Temu tat.

Anyway - that was merely a preamble to my plans for today! Mr Dilemma is taking our very elderly cat to the vet this morning. She has to have a check up before her medication can be prescribed. She is getting thinner and thinner so I know she is on her way out, but she is still happy and loving, enjoying spending time with us, so I don't think we need to let her go yet.

Later we will tackle putting together the Malm chest of drawers. It will be a doddle. We have loads of experience with IKEA flatpacks. I read the instructions and pass the right bits, and Mr Dilemma actually does the work. We have some interesting language for the bits - long screwy bit anyone? Roundy bit with a cross on? But we get there in the end.

There's always laundry to do, and I will cobble together something for our evening meal while Mr Dilemma picks up middle grandson from the cathedral after evensong. He got a couple of chicken breasts out of the freezer yesterday - intending for them to be bunged in a roasting bag with some veg and cooked until done. I might do that, it's very easy, or I might do spicy chicken and rice.

I hope your DD1 doesn't freeze @lucysmam ! We are in the 'balmy' South West and it is 2 degrees at the moment, with a maximum of 5 degrees expected. Mr Dilemma has delivered my electric hot water bottle which is sitting under my knees at present, so I'm definitely not planning on going anywhere in the near future.

AyrnotAir · 08/02/2025 09:06

Morning on my second cup of tea then going to get showered. Dh is unwell and needs a day in bed. I'm going to drop dd at work, pop in to town as I need some new trousers and got a delivery to collect. Go see fil in hospital then have a 2 hour drive for ds sport as he had a game this evening. Will be home about 9 tonight 😕 I'm already shattered. On antibiotics for a urine infection and meds for various deficiencies and would love a day of chilling.

Judgejudysno1fan · 08/02/2025 09:09

Morning everyone

I've caught my daughters flu along with a sore throat and headache so I'm taking it easy today. Relaxing on the sofa watching Judge Judy and the Apprentice latest episode whilst eating some lovely cookies my husband got me from the bakery.
I've roped the children into doing the chores between them and then for dinner tonight, chicken veg pie, roast spuds and Yorkshire puddings and brocolli. Was meant to be a dinner for Sunday but its in the fridge/freezer calling my name!

ssd · 08/02/2025 09:10

Working here unfortunately

Spookywoodhollow · 08/02/2025 09:16

Morning everyone. Really enjoying reading about your days. Currently watching squirrel trying to break in to a squirrel proof bird feeder while singing the mission impossible theme tune in my head.

dd goes to football and I’ll take the dogs out and then need to do some admin with dh and do all the washing…

trying not to feel bad that dd watches two hours of YouTube before I got up. I wished she has just got two hours extra sleep instead as she is generally knackered.

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 08/02/2025 09:21

Morning all,
I'm a little tired and delicate this morning as had one too many glasses of fizz last night at our pub quiz! Am going to drag myself out of bed and go for a run shortly to wake myself up. DD is spending the day with my mum and so we're heading to Cheltenham to visit friends. Going to watch A Real Pain this afternoon, then dinner out somewhere tonight - no idea where as friends have booked the table.

DS normally has a couple of hours on YouTube or his Switch on a weekend morning. Let's either share or ignore the guilt!!
