I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot, in silence 😊. I've just seen dd1 out on her way to meet her friends...in London 😱. She's dressed more for summer, but what do I know!?

When I've drunk my cuppa, I'm going to have a snooze on the sofa, while half keeping an eye on her location.

When I get up, there's washing to be done & last night's pots to wash. Other than that, a nice, quiet day is in order I think. I'm knackered after a busy week & dd2 is full of cold. I'll probably potter round doing odd jobs & make a start on some peg dolls for next half term's display at work.

Dd2 will have homework to be done, so I'll suggest she comes and sits with me to do it. She'll probably do it in her bedroom though.

Later on, it'll be leftover takeaway for tea, showers all round, and then I'll pick up my book for an hour or two reading before bed 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Morning Saturday Lovelies

I've just had a quick bath and now back in bed with a cuppa, but will get ready shortly to get out and meet pals for coffee and I need to pick up some odds and sods.

Usual dog walk and potter about later, I need to finish my meal plan and online food shop for Sunday.

@Oceansriseempiresfall can I please ask which sunlamp you use?

Hope your DD has a good time in London @lucysmam, so much to see and do ❤️

Have a good day all!

@FayKnights I use one I bought from amazon: Beurer TL30UK SAD Lamp | Helps combat seasonal affective disorder | Daylight therapy lamp with 10,000 lux | Adjustable stand and travel bag | UV-free LED light therapy | Medical device amzn.eu/d/2HBx8We

Good morning Lucysmam and others. I've had two coffees and two slices of toast. I'm about to get dressed and head to Aldi to restock. The second wash is in the machine and I'll get it dried later. Dgs1 is coming for a sleepover, so I will need lots and lots of food! Popcorn and nachos have been requested. As well as noodles. We may play snap later but I'll be led by him. I'm looking forward to it. Enjoy your day all.

itsallbowlsbaby · 08/02/2025 09:28

@Notmydaughteryoubitch waves 👋🏻 I'm in Cheltenham! Have a great day!

Calypsocuckoo · 08/02/2025 09:29

good morning all. I have a bit of a headache so hoping it will go with my coffee and big glass of water.
We have our nephew for the day so we are going to go to a garden centre for a few seeds and things we need and then potter in the garden and show him how to plant some seeds for some flowers and herbs. He loves helping out and joining in so he is going to watch/ help with some DIY as well.
I am having my nails and eyebrows done later so will pop out for that and then make a curry for dinner.
have a lovely day everyone 🥰

gingercat02 · 08/02/2025 09:31

I'm still in bed. I've had a horrible cold all week, but I was at work, much to DH disapproval. So I have cancelled all my plans for today to try to recover.
I'm going live vicariously through this thread 😃

Toseland · 08/02/2025 09:32

I'm getting ready to meet a large group of ladies for lunch - we are all coming together from over three counties to discuss how to protect women's rights and how 'gender ideology' impacts our lives. We will probably discuss the ongoing Sandie Peggie tribunal and follow the Let Women Speak event in Nottingham at 1pm today.

Whattheduck · 08/02/2025 09:36

Good morning @lucysmam & everyone. I always get a little thrill when I spot this thread amongst all the others. It’s just so comforting & lovely to get a snapshot of other families’ lives. I’m in bed having had a cuppa with DH who doesn’t start work till 11 ( he’s now “abluting” as he calls it). I’ll get dressed soon & sort the kitchen, do the dishwasher etc. Need a couple of bits from Tescos including milk as I forgot to stop off on the way home from looking after DM yesterday. Popping to a repair cafe this afternoon with a pair of trousers from a charity shop - they fit perfectly apart from being just a little too long. Not sure how it works as I think there’s only one lady on the sewing side of things. Maybe she takes stuff home with her. It’s free but they suggest you give a donation. After that I may go to a lovely seaside village nearby to get some sheepskin slippers with Christmas money from DBro & DSil. My current ones are giving up the ghost! DD16 has actually asked to go with me. She’s been spending more time with us generally which is so heartwarming after what we’ve all been through. And she’s thrilled with her room now after having a new pine shelf unit from Ikea which she’s draped with artificial vines, a pretty duvet set, a rug & a couple of cushion covers. The last two were paid for out of points she’d accumulated. Tea hasn’t been christened yet. Maybe an Indian takeaway if finances permit. DD sorts herself out, although her eating is pretty disordered atm. DH & I still need to find a Netflix or similar series to replace The Resident. Not necessarily medical. Any recommendations welcome. Have a lovely Saturday folks!

frozendaisy · 08/02/2025 09:40

Just persuading H making me a coffee before those two go and play football in arctic conditions is a good idea :-)

Then need to pop out for random items (bacon being one for their return I am nice really).

Then an additional teen and English Lang revision and chat. No idea what is for dinner will check out whatever at butcher, needs to be plain, bangers and mash? Ribs? I don’t know

Giggorata · 08/02/2025 09:43

Good morning lucysmam and all.
I am just slinking out of bed and about to have tea. A very cold day, so not at all eager. DH is out with the dogs and actually asked himself “ will I need a coat?” before he went. Truly, he is a different breed.
I have the usual mountain of laundry to do and then I will make chicken pie for tonight's dinner.
Our new air fryer was delivered last night, so I plan to wash it and play with it try out some chips to go with the pie.
I am going into town later for a mooch round and to meet a friend in the tea shop. There might be cakes…
This evening, no plans, other than to loll about with my book.

Likki · 08/02/2025 09:46

Depressed. I've been awake for 1.5 hrs in bed and I now have to do the daily grind all over again. Weekends don't make a difference.

Carolwithane · 08/02/2025 09:46

@itsallbowlsbaby Gladiators is cancelled for bloody football 🙄

DP is working so just me and DS. Going to the library, picking up a few bits and meeting DM and DMIL for lunch

Chilled evening, probably watching aforementioned bloody football 😆

PiastriThePastry · 08/02/2025 09:47

Some lovely relaxing days, enjoy everyone 😊
Pretty relaxed here too actually. DH working all day so just me and my 3yo boy today. Been out first thing to sort horses, dogs, rowdy ducks etc, with DS in tow, helping with everything of course, in his little overalls and wielding his diddy wheelbarrow. Back in, swapped washing over, put another load on, unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher etc then time for a cuppa while he rampages about with his toy tractors, silaging apparently.
Annoyingly I’ve to go to the shops in a little while. I don’t particularly want to but I’ve procrastinated for too long and not bought a gift for my niece for her birthday and I’m seeing them tomorrow 🤦🏼‍♀️ only myself to blame! I know exactly what she wants so hoping it’ll be a quick in and out job. Might go for a coffee and cake break, there’s an adorable little cafe that does a superb carrot cake and the staff are always so very kind to my son, so he considers it the biggest treat going!

TrickyD · 08/02/2025 10:01

Hi Lucysmam and everyone.
lying in bed, just finished my tea and pikelet brought as always by DH. He will bring me coffee soon. I do not intend to LTB.
We are going for a family ski trip tomorrow. Two DSs adults, DGS 21 and 7, DH and me but I stopped skiing at 72 and am well past that now. But we are staying at a ClubMed hotel which is great for non skiers. Three friends are also joining us.
The downside is that we have to set off for the airport at 1.30am tomorrow so not much sleep.
Last minute odds and ends to pack, timers on lights to set.
Last week there was a terrible landslide blocking all traffic on the road to the ski resorts where we are heading. Total chaos but French authorities opened up gyms etc provided beds and food for stranded travellers and dynamited the huge boulders blocking the roads. They have really done an amazing job.
Just hoping we and everyone else gets along that road safely.

OneLilacEagle · 08/02/2025 10:02

Morning all. It's been an early start here - on the train since 5 - as I'm taking DS to London for a few days. He's never been before and I've not been for years. Really looking forward to it. We have a loose plan with some things booked but we'll see what catches our eye too. Mexican Street food for dinner.

JingsMahBucket · 08/02/2025 10:03

Morning everyone. I’m still hunkered down in bed with OH snoring beside me. We’ve had a weird and tiring week and we’re taking it slowly today. @Likki also depressed over here and I’ve had trouble concentrating and working all week. Solidarity. 💐

At some point we’ll get up and have breakfast later. I pulled a whole chicken out of the freezer last night to roast this evening. I’ll season and marinate it this afternoon in a lemon herb style, I think. I’d like to try making spinach rice to go with it. Off to google a recipe.

Laundry, client work, and clearing clutter from the bedroom is the main aim of the day. That said, I’ll let my inner child play a bit by reading a graphic novel and playing an iPad game before settling down to tackle the client work.

Have a relaxing and easy day everyone. 🙂

CatteryCatss · 08/02/2025 10:08

Good morning all. I’m having the ultimate lazy day today because we have no plans at all. My asthma is quite bad today, so I have to be careful and to keep an eye on it.

I want to clean the floor in the lounge because I can see paw prints from the cats! This evening, I expect we’ll continue re-watching Orphan Black (it’s my favourite TV series.)

devildeepbluesea · 08/02/2025 10:08

Morning all. I’ve walked the dog, rearranged the box room and showered so far. Just off to Tesco to pick up provisions. I have a houseful tonight, so getting stuff for fajitas for 6 of us.
Later DD will go to her theatre rehearsal and after that we’ll go to the pub and await our guests. Kids will go home early while the adults stay on for a few!

Kim82 · 08/02/2025 10:34

Good morning everyone. Bloody freezing here today so I’m thankful I have no real plans.

I’ve had a full on week with work, ferrying the girls to and from dance/work/friend’s houses, sick bugs and all the things that go on in busy families plus I went to my friend’s last night and didn’t get home til 11.30pm so I’m absolutely shattered. Today I plan to do as little as possible. I have an eye test at 1pm and afterwards I’m dropping dd10 at my sister’s house for a sleepover then coming home and just relaxing. The house is a mess but it can wait til tomorrow, I’ll just concentrate on getting the washing done today which is easy enough. I think I might start a book as I have a few waiting for me.

Tea tonight is an easy tuna pasta bake then I’ll carry on with my book before an early night.

I have no idea what dh and dd17’s plans are (dd20 is still with friends in Nottingham) but whatever they’re doing it won’t be involving me, I’m checking out today and will be spending as much of the day as I can just sitting down.

Usernamenope · 08/02/2025 10:45

Woke up and had a big breakfast and cup of tea. Played with DC in their new tent (got a bit stuck but wiggled myself out bottom first).

Going to cook some dishes to freeze for another time, do a bit of cleaning (wall washing - bit odd but needs doing), have lunch, then take DC off to the museum. I will treat myself to a chocolate mousse on the way.

Decafflatteplease · 08/02/2025 11:03

Morning @lucysmam and all.

DH and I swapped today so it was my turn for a lie in this morning and it was lovely DH brought me tea and a hot cross bun in bed 🙂

Usual Saturday morning routine of uniform washing here and meal planning for the week. DC are either in bed, on screens or playing depending on ages!

After lunch we are off to a nature reserve for a well needed blast of fresh air and exercise. DH is heading out this evening so I'm on dinner bath bed duty with the DC, am actually debating ordering us all a takeaway save me cooking, DH is getting dinner out so why shouldn't we 😂

Once dc are in bed in hoping to catch up on casualty and then an early night for me.

DilemmaDelilah · 08/02/2025 09:04

Good morning @lucysmam . I've just finished my breakfast in bed and am contemplating not getting up for a while. I'm quite cold, so Mr Dilemma has put my electric hot water bottle on to charge and that will be ready by the time I have finished this.

We had a busy day yesterday, hospital appointment for me first thing, then we went to IKEA where we went through both floors rather than just the market hall, and we had lunch. I had a brief rest when we got home, then we nipped out to pick up a toy kitchen for when smallest grandson comes to stay.

The IKEA visit was prompted by a decision to make the tiny room which is currently my office into a proper single spare room, and I am getting very excited about it. I love designing and decorating - although there isn't actually that much to do in there - it's more a matter of how best to use the very small space. It's one of those rooms built above the stairwell so it has a big box in the corner where the slope of the stairs is. That is where the bed will be.

The toy kitchen prompted some 'discussion' with Mr Dilemma - who doesn't like toys cluttering up the place. He was somewhat mollified by us picking up another malm chest of drawers in IKEA in which he can store yet more of his Temu tat.

Anyway - that was merely a preamble to my plans for today! Mr Dilemma is taking our very elderly cat to the vet this morning. She has to have a check up before her medication can be prescribed. She is getting thinner and thinner so I know she is on her way out, but she is still happy and loving, enjoying spending time with us, so I don't think we need to let her go yet.

Later we will tackle putting together the Malm chest of drawers. It will be a doddle. We have loads of experience with IKEA flatpacks. I read the instructions and pass the right bits, and Mr Dilemma actually does the work. We have some interesting language for the bits - long screwy bit anyone? Roundy bit with a cross on? But we get there in the end.

There's always laundry to do, and I will cobble together something for our evening meal while Mr Dilemma picks up middle grandson from the cathedral after evensong. He got a couple of chicken breasts out of the freezer yesterday - intending for them to be bunged in a roasting bag with some veg and cooked until done. I might do that, it's very easy, or I might do spicy chicken and rice.

I hope your DD1 doesn't freeze @lucysmam ! We are in the 'balmy' South West and it is 2 degrees at the moment, with a maximum of 5 degrees expected. Mr Dilemma has delivered my electric hot water bottle which is sitting under my knees at present, so I'm definitely not planning on going anywhere in the near future.

You could/should be a writer. You have a lovely way of writing and lovely vocab!

Lookingforwardto2025 · 08/02/2025 11:08

Having a chilled out morning. Have cooked a chicken to make into a pie later. Have friends coming round for dinner which will be lovely. Have done the dishes and have my second load of washing in the machine.

Just back from a quick walk round the village and in a bit DH and DS will go to the gym/pool while I do the meal prepping for later.

Need to watch the latest Death in Paradise at some point.

It blows my mind how different my Saturdays are to when DS was a toddler.
