Good Morning All! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa, in my kitchen spot, in silence 😊. I've just seen dd1 out on her way to meet her friends...in London 😱. She's dressed more for summer, but what do I know!?

When I've drunk my cuppa, I'm going to have a snooze on the sofa, while half keeping an eye on her location.

When I get up, there's washing to be done & last night's pots to wash. Other than that, a nice, quiet day is in order I think. I'm knackered after a busy week & dd2 is full of cold. I'll probably potter round doing odd jobs & make a start on some peg dolls for next half term's display at work.

Dd2 will have homework to be done, so I'll suggest she comes and sits with me to do it. She'll probably do it in her bedroom though.

Later on, it'll be leftover takeaway for tea, showers all round, and then I'll pick up my book for an hour or two reading before bed 💤

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning All!

Woke up very early this morning, got up, fed cat and then went back to sleep which was good as I really needed it.

Cold, grey and grizzly here so not much planned for today. Will pop out to Tesco superstore later as DD wants to get a new school coat and might do the weekly shop there, usually get a weekly online delivery but am getting bored of getting the same old things.

Need to give the bathroom a once over, hoover upstairs and put a couple of washes on. Probably bangers and mash for tea and will watch Michael McIntrye with DD.

I'm having a cup of tea in bed and I've got my sunlight lamp on to wake me up. Dds are playing in the new sensory tent in their bedroom and have been getting along nicely all morning which is new and brilliant. Dh is watching YouTube downstairs. We might all go to the cinema later to watch a kids film. What book are you reading at the moment @lucysmam ? I'm looking for book inspiration!

Good morning lucysmam and all.
I am just slinking out of bed and about to have tea. A very cold day, so not at all eager. DH is out with the dogs and actually asked himself “ will I need a coat?” before he went. Truly, he is a different breed.
I have the usual mountain of laundry to do and then I will make chicken pie for tonight's dinner.
Our new air fryer was delivered last night, so I plan to wash it and play with it try out some chips to go with the pie.
I am going into town later for a mooch round and to meet a friend in the tea shop. There might be cakes…
This evening, no plans, other than to loll about with my book.

Are you making the chicken pie from scratch? 🥧

Had a disturbed night, as next door seemed to be having a party of some sort, with fairly loud music going on until after midnight. They seem to do this about every 6-8 weeks, so not all the time. But in an otherwise silent cul-de-sac, it's annoying.
Up at about 8am. Hoovered downstairs and shortly off to give the bathrooms a top to bottom going over.
Will then do a quick mop downstairs, and that's it for cleaning this weekend.

We did have a day out planned, but we are all absolutely shattered, so we decided to postpone. DH is trying to get DD1 down for a nap now. DD2 is snoozing in my lap after her feed. When DD1 wakes we're going to have some lunch, then pop over to my parents house and go for a short walk along the river. This evening we're having fajitas for tea and then we will see what the evening holds. DD2 has colic so it will either be four hours of trying to soothe her, or if she settles early DH and I will watch some Lego Masters Australia and eat ice cream on the sofa. Hoping for the latter but mentally prepared for the former. I'm sure I'll also be playing play-doh with DD1 at some point this afternoon - one of my favourite things to do.

Grannyinnwaiting · 08/02/2025 11:21

lie in this morning - off to visit in laws then a friends house to watch rugby and have a casual tea - excellent day

Crunchymum · 08/02/2025 11:22

Another chilly day here (I'm in London too. Yesterday was particularly cold)

DC3 and I are just back from swimming. DC2 has a horrid cough so I'd left her at home with DC1. I'm just about to unplug them from their devices.

We're currently painting the house so everything is in disarray. We'll need to have a proper clean up once it's done. At the moment I'm just in "fcuk it" mode and I'm embracing the mess. Good excuse to not bother hoovering the whole house.

DP will be home from work soon and he'll take DC3 and DC1 out for a bike ride / hot chocolate later. I'm going to see if I can tempt DC2 for a nap as we were both up loads last night with her cough. Why are coughs always so much worse at night?

Something easy for dinner, probably chilli with rice and broccoli and then hopefully an early night.

Aww @LimeFox I miss the quiet afternoons of toddlerhood playing play dough together. all my DC are at school now and I miss those days. As they say....the days are long but the years are short! Have a lovely afternoon ♥️

PurpleTinsel555 · 08/02/2025 11:34

A chilled day here as well. We both slept late and very deeply; DP brought me a coffee and now I’m on Mumsnet and the New York Times while he showers.

Today I’ll tidy the bedroom and change the sheets (bliss!), have a look at some gemstones and rest after a very long week while DP fusses around with his medieval village simulator. Then I’m out with a friend. Wish it were Gladiators and a glass of wine instead!

Are you making the chicken pie from scratch? 🥧

Yes, I am! The chicken is in the pressure cooker (scary) and I am planning half butter, half lard pastry.
I have got a few partridge breasts out of the freezer to bung in as well, that way I can have enough pies to freeze for the future. 😋

Took DC out for breakfast at local cafe, now driving to air park for a jump around, in the afternoon we have friends coming over for play date for a couple of hours.

Early evening I'm off to get a wax and manicure.

Tonight, babysitter comes and DH and I are heading out for date night.

Perfect Saturday !

FlorencenotRatchet · 08/02/2025 12:01

Morning (just) @lucysmam and all happy Saturday.
Just back from Parkrun and breakfast out. Very drizzly and miserable today.
I bought a paper today for the first time in years so looking forward to a nice relaxing afternoon.
Bolognaise for dinner and have a couple of cocktail cans for later.
Enjoy your day everyone

DilemmaDelilah · 08/02/2025 12:01

@Judgejudysno1fan thank you! Unfortunately, as you can see from most of my posts, I am nearly incapable of writing anything succinct. I put it down to my autism and needing to explain everything....

Iamnotaloggrip · 08/02/2025 13:51

Afternoon all. Just sitting with a cuppa while watching the footy. Went to gym with dd this morning, then shopping and lunch. Boys have gone to football this afternoon so we’ll get some fresh air and walk to the library to change her books. Then back to watch a film and play games. Pasta for dinner. Have a lovely day everyone!

Morning! Ah I can feel the peace from this thread calling me.

I too have a quiet day. I shall go to the gym, do some cleaning, and I have an eye test at 4pm. Off to the cinema tonight to see the film about the Munich olynpics kidnappings. I can’t recall the title.

Is that September 5 and how was it?

I've had a lovely afternoon: we were one of the first into a local pub so had first dibs at seating and sat by the fire near the window. I had the most delicious, warming shepherd's pie. Outside was cold and drizzly so it felt nice being by the crackling fire

Abracadabra12345 · 08/02/2025 16:43

I was also aware of just how happy I was... We don't always, in the moment do we? Usually only when looking back

DilemmaDelilah · 08/02/2025 20:24

@Abracadabra12345 it makes me happy that you were happy. Long may it continue!

Newmumburnout · 08/02/2025 21:02

Hi all, all your days sound very chilled. I have been out for lunch with DH and DS. I then went for my new found love - acupuncture. Chilling watching movie now.
