What do I want for supper from Lidl?

To make a change from the “what shall I get from Waitrose?” threads 😁

DS has a friend over tomorrow and DH is away. What easy supper should I get for myself from Lidl?

Not sure what you should have for supper but you should definitely get a bag of their chocolate covered pistachios for nibbling on afterwards.

A melted cheese thing seems to be the winner. Particularly the Mac and Cheese. Will report back.

@chelseahealyslips DS actually doesn’t like melted cheese, not even on pizza. I really do wonder if he’s my child sometimes…

From Lidl?!

I too thought you meant a late night snack.
I sometimes enjoy their 'foreign' food which changes each week- Italian, Asian, Greek week etc. BUT, this week is American week and my least favourite week. I buy absolutely nothing from that range 😆

-They do a 1/4 duck in the frozen section, so you'd just need to get a cucumber and spring onions and you could have a mini Chinese take-away to yourself
-Their grass fed range of steaks are really good and I like their chunky maris piper frozen chips
-Their frozen and fresh pizzas are good
-They often have some interesting things in the freezer like mini dauphinoise potato bakes, pies, things in pastry etc which can be shoved in the oven.

The giant butter beans that come in a large glass jar or sometime a smaller tin . They are in the Greek range . Our Lidl always seem to have them . The stuffed vine leaves are also lovely .

Yuck. Lidl food is awful, such poor quality. Aldi is miles better

You've definitely convinced us we all need to shop at Aldi from now on.

For those who are interested (not @CantStopBuyingSeeds obviously) I got the melty cheese thing, a fancy baguette, charcuterie, those mixed cherry tomatoes aimed at children and chocolate covered pistachios “for later”.

Lidl is way better than Aldi here. Much better quality and nicer all round

The grass fed fillet steaks are superb. My husband is a total fusspot about meat. He raves about them.

the ham and ale cheese thing has become our weekly indulgence on a Friday, but still better than a greasy takeaway!

I need to go find this melty cheese thing. Is it next to the other cheeses usually?

And if it's American week again I need to check if they have the amazing snacks I had before. They looked like giant Wotsits but they tasted like peanut butter.

Have they changed the recipe for their filled pasta? I used to love it but the packets I bought last week (deluxe, one spinach, one butternut squash) were horrible and I ended up throwing it away - very unlike me.

@JC03745 I wouldn’t have noticed them if @dollymixedup hadn't mentioned them. The packaging is black with pistachio trims. Almost like they are being hidden because they are so tasty.

too late for the op tonight but i used to buy the Chinese pork loins before vegetarian dd came back home to roost!
