So you're dead

So you're sadly dead, you got hit by a bus, which was unfortunately on time for a fucking change, what song would you want at your funeral?

I think I'd want Little Wonders by Rob Thomas. I like to think I'd have something really funny and inappropriate but realistically some of my family would not find that funny.

Half a world away.

Been my funeral song for decades

I was thinking of that one too, but the Aurora cover.

neighboursmustliveon · 23/01/2025 18:44

I want A Life That’s Good and Never Forget and everyone must do the arm moves!

in reality I want a direct cremation and more a party rather than a proper service so music might be difficult.

orsino · 23/01/2025 18:47

Lust for Life: Iggy Pop
Requiem Mass: Mozart
Take Me Out: Franz Ferdinand

Going Underground The Jam

Bambolelo by the Gypsy Kings as my coffin is brought in, ideally when the line 'porque mi vida, yo la quiero vivir asi' (because it is my life, I want to live it like this) belts out I want everyone to stamp a foot.

On the way out to the grave I would love to have Blur's Tender playing.

Ideally it would be a fun celebration and raise a smile.

julesagain · 23/01/2025 19:10

I want to come in to We love to boogie and I want to come out ( I intend to be buried) to Yes Sir, I can boogie. To be played during the service is an acapella version of under pressure with Bowie and Mercury it's breathtaking. The other two are because I want to make people smile and tap their feet.

FreddieMercurysCat · 23/01/2025 19:11

I’d have my coffin come into the funeral with Queen : The Show Must Go On and go out to Depeche Mode : Enjoy the Silence.

J3001 · 23/01/2025 19:11

Bohemian rhapsody

DiduAye · 23/01/2025 19:17

Not a song as such but Highland Cathedral played on the bagpipes

BlueFlowers5 · 23/01/2025 19:18

A normal church funeral service. My choice of hymns. Going out, the All Creatures Great and Small theme. The series the first time with Christopher Timothy one.

Dogsbreath7 · 23/01/2025 19:22

Cara Dillon ‘the parting glass’ for the sad bit and Louis Armstrong ‘it’s a wonderful world’ for the happy bit.

Cremated to Disco inferno by The Trammps, then move on up by Curtis Mayfield. (Full 8 minute version).
Some funkyness is needed.

Unicornsandprincesses · 23/01/2025 19:34

I don’t want a funeral.

MMUmum · 23/01/2025 19:36

Sing Alleluia come on get happy ( the lord is waiting to take your hand) sung by Barbara Streisamd

ThanksForAllTheFish · 23/01/2025 19:36

I would like The final countdown by Europe as I’m coming in and then for the end song I’m torn between -
Don’t fear the reaper by Blue oyster cult or
Farewell and Goodnight by the smashing pumpkins

JustMeAndTheFish · 23/01/2025 19:45

I’m having Good Riddance by Green Day

PetuniaT · 23/01/2025 19:45

Carl Orff's Carmina Burana does it for me

lonelywater · 23/01/2025 19:46

"is that all there is?" sung by Peggy Lee and "National Express", Divine Comedy.

biggreenapple24 · 23/01/2025 19:53

I would like to be cremated and have always said I'd have Burn Baby Burn by Ash. A little last joke for my friends & family 😁

In reality probably something by Death Cab for Cutie.

oriel2013 · 23/01/2025 19:56

Good Riddance (Time of your life) by Greenday. The brackets are actually the other wsh around but that seems more funny!
