What would you say the average percentage would be of men that cheat that travel a lot with their jobs?

Has your partner just got a new job that involves a fair bit of travelling by any chance?

No but I have friends that have. I can't help but notice how happy their partners seem when they return. It has got me wondering.

Maybe we should add that question to the next census so we can get some data on it.

mitogoshigg · 17/01/2025 19:22

Not all men cheat, only the bad ones!

LittleRedRidingHoody · 17/01/2025 19:22

I travel a lot for work, and I'd say honestly maybe 40%? Or maybe I've just worked with a lot of scumbags 😅

Whoknew24 · 17/01/2025 19:22

Maybe concentrate on your own life and marriage. Maybe they’re happy they are home to see their family.

theworriermum · 17/01/2025 19:24

I'd say a lot. And they get away with it.

Nellyelephanty · 17/01/2025 19:54

Mine travelled. And cheated

AlannaOfTrebond · 17/01/2025 19:57

I used to travel for work a lot and often there would be a team of between 10 and 40 of us both male and female.

The people using travel as an excuse to cheat on their partners were very much in the minority, but a few definitely did - both male and female.

wizzywig · 17/01/2025 19:59

They seem happy as they get time away from family to just focus on themselves. Even being able to watch TV that you want in peace is lovely

ToBeOrNotToBee · 17/01/2025 19:59

Mine travelled and cheated. He was a prick though.

I'm in a job where I travel and have a good few male colleagues. Out of 15 or so, I'd say 2 cheat regularly. They're known scumbags though.

SmolTrashPanda · 17/01/2025 20:00

60%. Maybe more.

Novaavon · 17/01/2025 20:01

They will all cheat if the opportunity arises. But many on here will never believe that.

Agree!

OP, have you considered that men returning from travelling with work are, perhaps just maybe, pleased to be home and happy to see their partners/families again after their absence? Ludicrous thought, I know 🙄

Sunshine1500 · 17/01/2025 20:02

I know of a family member that travels but definitely doesn’t cheat , I have a few friends and colleagues that travel and do cheat. I’d say the majority.

NoKnickerElastic · 17/01/2025 20:03

Mine travels often (most weeks) for work. A couple of my friends have made sympathetic "are you worried?" type overtures in the past and treated me like I was in denial when I said I trusted him implicitly. Honestly I don't think he has ever been unfaithful. Some people think I am naive but I know the man, he's loyal, he's not a liar and his mother would kill him. I'd eat my hat if I was proved wrong!

Pebbles16 · 17/01/2025 20:03

I travelled a lot for work (pre-Covid), never cheated and only once experienced someone cheating - but he did that fairly frequently anyway

backinthebox · 17/01/2025 20:09

I travel a lot for work (it IS my work.) Very few of my colleagues seem to be cheating, but maybe I am just oblivious to it. Two of my colleagues were obviously having an affair on a recent trip, and it was the main gossip among colleagues for the whole duration. We stay in the same hotels, go for dinner together, and spend our free time together. If anyone does anything gossip-worthy, we know!

When I go home, I’m usually really happy. But mainly because I just got to spend a couple of days all inclusive in a beach hotel and didn’t have to load the dishwasher once. Not because I’m cheating.

Dearg · 17/01/2025 20:11

I agree with @Pebbles16 . I travelled a lot - at least 50% of my time, working with project teams. Probably about 20% of the team cheated , males and females, with each other. So on a team of 20 that’s 4 people - 1 couple at it with each other; a mother 2 doing random hook-ups.

BigFatLiar · 17/01/2025 20:15

OH would go through phases of travelling. I did a lot more. He got into bother with HR when a couple of women he worked with complained that he didn't socialise with them while they were away. While I travelled, last thing I wanted was company. The chance to chill in a nice hotel room was much more inviting.

Heatwavenotify · 17/01/2025 20:15

I travel with mainly men. (About 99% men). I’d say about 70% Of those that don’t…some will a few more years in. Some won’t for lack of opportunity. And then you are left with a few good ones. Depressing really.

Adamante · 17/01/2025 20:16

SmolTrashPanda · 17/01/2025 20:00

60%. Maybe more.

I used to travel a lot for work, often in groups, lots of socialising. I would agree with this estimate. However there were also totally decent guys who would sit at the bar together and chat amongst themselves and then just melt away when things started to get messy.

Almostwelsh · 17/01/2025 20:18

Most of them. My ExH travelled for work and cheated. When it was all revealed everyone who knew him was shocked. He 'wasn't the type'.

If conditions are right they're all the type.

ViciousCurrentBun · 17/01/2025 20:28

My Mother always said it’s a waste of time wondering if a man will cheat. If he is going to he will. Her first husband did and she divorced him, it was around 1952/53 and positively scandalous at the time. Not his cheating, the fact that she divorced him.

My DH travelled a lot for work overseas, I travelled Within the UK sometimes. If anyone wants to cheat they will find a way,

cunoyerjudowel · 17/01/2025 20:33

I think the travelling does not increase the chances of cheating but a man who likes to cheat may look for a role like this to facilitate his behaviour.

I think there's loads of different methods to cheat and it comes down to the individual and if they want to / the relationship.

For example my dh works away occasionally and hates it. He doesn't go out and uses it as an early night and hits the gym. I personally love it when he works away as I get the bed all to myself!

I occasionally have to go away or on courses in a male dominated industry and I just gym / get an early night (cba socialising) others do and quite a few hook up- weather single or not I wouldn't know.
