Men that travel a lot with their jobs.

What would you say the average percentage would be of men that cheat that travel a lot with their jobs?

OP posts:

DH travels a lot (across the US). He’s always pleased to be back because he hates it. He hates hotel meals and unfamiliar beds night after night and red eye flights. He always comes back with his mental energy depleted. He’s quite shy and introverted so travelling means that he’s also missed out on talking to the people he likes to talk to (us). I mean I don’t know where he would have the bandwidth to cheat and to be honest if that’s what he wanted to do if he would do it irrespective of location.

I love going away to a conference or two. I like hotel rooms, the peace and quiet. Being able to get sustained work done. But I also travel much less frequently so it is more of a novelty.

AtticusCatticus · 18/01/2025 09:00

Both my partner (M) and I (F) have travelled for work and neither of us has cheated in the other.

My ex also travelled, and he didn’t cheat either.

So in my experience. 0% I’m not convinced that statistics works like that, though!

Lentilweaver · 18/01/2025 09:02

Mine travels a lot. Didnt cheat afaik
If he wants to cheat he can do that at home too.

I myself go on a lot of solo trips. I dont cheat but I could if I wanted to.
Either you trust your partner or you don't.
Not interested in living in each other's pockets.

Lighteningstrikes · 18/01/2025 09:06

In my experience, it was definitely the vast minority that did, but they were born serial womanisers that would do it at any given opportunity.

Looking back, real scum bag sort of guys. Their doting wives were absolutely oblivious and didn’t have a clue.

So were the cabin crew cheaters as well? Does the cheating include the growing number of female pilots?

Some were.

In my day, female pilots were rare as hens’ teeth, so no idea.

Agree

Absolute rubbish. You need to meet better men

I don't think all men cheat but assuming they do, what's the option? Never let your man out of your sight? DH and I often holiday separately. Would hate to go everywhere together like Noah and his wife

They will all cheat if the opportunity arises. But many on here will never believe that.

Because it’s utter bollocks

Chocolatecustardcreamsrule · 18/01/2025 09:28

I travel a lot with work and I’m a female in a very male dominated field and I couldn’t put a percentage on it. What I can say though is some only don’t cheat because they’ve no one to cheat with.

It took me a long time to get over the sadness of time and time again colleagues who I thought were becoming friends were only interested in trying to sleep with me. Men that come across as really nice, genuine, family men. It’s disgusting. I don’t bother now and choose to eat in a big group or on my own.

Cynic17 · 18/01/2025 09:31

Shouldn't the title be "people who travel etc"? What makes you think that men are any different from women, OP? Some people will take advantage of the freedom - most probably won't.
I'm female, but I hate this stereotyping of men that makes out that they're all up to no good.

IjustbelieveinMe · 18/01/2025 09:36

My ex and I were living in Shanghai when he cheated on me while travelling on business around China. Prostitution is everywhere there and business deals can be negotiated in karaoke bars with prostitutes etc. it's a pretty sleazy way to do business. After 5 years living in China I ended up leaving him and moving to Australia on my own.

TheaBrandt · 18/01/2025 09:36

Hmm. Its more likely to be men though however pc you try and be. Anecdotally in my old job I knew of one woman that cheated lots of the men did. Most men didnt but a minority did way more than the women.

theworriermum · 18/01/2025 09:37

The reality is no one knows everything that goes on at work. Plenty of affairs can and do go undetected. Of course rumours swirl but no one is absolutely certain of what goes on,

TheaBrandt · 18/01/2025 09:38

Where are all the brothels in South East Asia full of young men ready to cater for the women business travellers...?! The bars with scantily clad young men dancing for 50 something women? Thought so.

Wish44 · 18/01/2025 09:54

Mine did. Everyone was totally shocked as he didn’t seem the type. Turned out he had cheated a lot.

he is remarried now. He recently got a new job that requires even more travelling and being away! I wonder why!

Wouldn’t it be lovely to be able to talk about issues that primarily affect women without a sanctimonious mini lecture on terminology and being fair to The Men? 🙄. These constant controls around how to speak around the clear differences between male and female behaviours serve only to stifle the conversation and detract from the matter being discussed.

Why can’t we be trusted to already KNOW that “Women Do It Too You Know!”? They do but as a previous poster said, many societies are set up to prioritise men and their sexual requirements. Many MNetters live in a societies and lead lives where women still provide the majority of child and home care, with less well paid jobs outside the home, and men form the majority when it comes to being employed in highly paid jobs involving international travel, therefore it’s really ok to discuss that as a singular issue.

howsoonis · 18/01/2025 22:09

I go to a yearly conference which is a booze fuelled cheat fest- both men and women , fairly even numbers being unfaithful- quite openly, I find it really disappointing seeing how people I professionally respected treat their spouses and has changed my view of them.

Pelot · 19/01/2025 00:35

80% would be conservative. Anyone in global corporate travels. Conferences are the worst. It's a meat market.

ArtTheClown · 19/01/2025 12:35

DH says by and large the married/coupled up men don't cheat in his industry. I've joined him sometimes and met his colleagues and nothing seemed particularly shifty.
You can't know anything 100%, but I'd be surprised if he did.
