What’s the worst thing you’ve accidentally eaten?

I was sat in bed watching a film and munching on some popcorn. Saw what I thought was a little bit on the bed so I picked it up and put it in my mouth.

It was cat litter…. I don’t think I’ve ever scrubbed my mouth so hard with my toothbrush before

A firelighter. Thought I would try it when I was about 6. Over 30 years later I can still taste it.

Ohnonotmeagain · 13/01/2025 22:53

Wasn’t accidental but a conker.

i can still taste the chchchch and it was 40 years ago.

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 13/01/2025 22:53

Mouldy bread.
It tasted like soil and musty carpet.

EnglishGirlApproximately · 13/01/2025 22:55

When I was about 7 I ate a dried up dead fly thinking it was a sultana - I'm 50 and can still remember the texture 🤢

TartanMammy · 13/01/2025 22:55

Friend with two toddlers, over Xmas with lots of treats and selection boxes around, her dp picked up what he thought was a Malteaser off the floor and popped it in his mouth. It was actually from the toddlers nappy 🤢

A few years ago, I was eating a brownie and my dog came over to get a bit. I told her no, and gave her a little rub on her face instead.

Finished my brownie, and stuck the last little crumb from my hand into my mouth.

Wasn’t a crumb.

It was my dog’s eye booger that I must’ve picked up when I touched her face.

Omg I read that as a firefighter 🧑‍🚒😂 then I realised your age and re read. Damn dyslexia

BrieHugger · 13/01/2025 22:57

A kids crusty black bogey. Thought it was a bit of chocolate I’d dropped, but no.

In terms of actual food - off melon. Looked normal but made me throw up.

DazedAndConfused321 · 13/01/2025 22:57

Dd wanted to make me a sandwich aged 6, used a tub of cream cheese of unknown maturity found in the door of the fridge-and in her own words "used the pink bits because they're the bestest part". They were not the bestest part and sadly led to me feeling quite unwell for a while.

saltandvinegarchipsticks · 13/01/2025 22:58

Oh god.

I didn’t purposely eat this but it’s burned in my memory forever even though it happened 25 years ago.

I was getting down to it with a man and as he was on top of me, I saw a massive bogey fall out of his nose and it went into my mouth.

I still physically retch when I think about it.

Either warm fruit salad in slightly sour milk in primary school (put me off both milk and fruit for a long time and made me puke) or a spider that fell into my mouth while I was mucking out a stable at work. It was oddly crunchy and tasted absolutely vile.

Avatartar · 13/01/2025 23:03

A big fluffy moth when I was a child. I caught it in my bedroom and was watching it. I likedked the feeling of it when I cupped my hands over it and gently blew on it between my thumbs which made it flutter. Then I breathed in…. Can still feel it now, cried a lot and drank about 2 pints of water and then had tummy ache, probably due to all the water.

sweetkitty · 13/01/2025 23:03

Thought I had dropped chocolate on my arm and it had melted so I licked it up!

no reader it wasn’t chocolate but the cats leaky bum 🤮

MonickerMonica · 13/01/2025 23:04

@saltandvinegarchipsticks

🤢 But did you continue the sex? I have to know. Did you pretend it hadn't happened?

Fedupandstressed · 13/01/2025 23:04

A mothball. Thought it was a mint imperial that had fallen into my bag. Aaak ak ak,

No, he also realised what had happened (the bogey really was a whopper) and he stopped to apologise because he was mortified.

Killed the mood!

junerella · 13/01/2025 23:06

A bluebottle. I can still sadly conjure up the taste, 15 years later.

TheCatsBlanket · 13/01/2025 23:07

As a child I thought my mum had put some fresh orange juice in the fridge in a jug so I took a gulp. It was cold, semi-solid cooking fat from the chip pan

Ilovemyshed · 13/01/2025 23:07

Pot pourri. Mistook for nibbles at a party !

🤣My mum did this too when I was a kid. Thought it was a bit of caramel but it was dog eye boogey🤢

Snot what you were both hoping for that evening eh?

(sorry 😏)

Manchesterbythesea · 13/01/2025 23:11

I ate some tin foil once, was terrified to go asleep in case I died. My granny ate dog treats, thought they were sweets. We laughed so much.

PoisonRain · 13/01/2025 23:12

My feral bastard of a dog caught a frog from the pond, dropping it on the lounge rug horribly injured and emitting high pitched squeals.

I rushed it outside to despatch it swiftly and spare it's suffering. I held its body and rapped it on the bonce firmly with a trowel. A lump of something flew up into my mouth.

DawnBreaks · 13/01/2025 23:15

Many years ago I cooked a pizza with the polystyrene base still stuck to it. I didn't realize until there was only a bit left. I'm still here!
