I fixed snoring!

InfoSecInTheCity · 27/12/2024 12:08

After many years of being a freight train snorer and trying all the strips and sprays I seem to have fixed it accidentally with a new pack of pillows.

Neck had been killing me so while doing the food shop I impulse bought a new pack of pillows

www.argos.co.uk/product/2729884?clickSR=slp:term:pillows:18:28:1

Been using them a couple of weeks now and DH reports I am eerily silent during the night now, no snoring, don't roll round all night like a washing machine spin cycle.

Neck still hurts though so need to find an alternative solution for that. Thinking I might actually have to do exercise instead of just thinking about it.

Oh my gosh I really hope this works!!
My husband loves squishy feather pillows and snores like an angry bear. We don't even sleep in the same room anymore!

Mrs Monkey tried to cure my snoring with a pillow...

I’ve just read that Zepbound (MJ in the US) has been approved for treatment of obstructive sleep apnea.

blueshoes · 27/12/2024 18:51

OP, I have just bought the pillows x 2.

At £13, what could go wrong?

LimeYellow · 27/12/2024 18:55

A mouth guard worked for us.

I am actually on Mounjaro, although I started that 3 months ago and the snoring stopped the day I used the new pillows, so it would be a bit of a weird timing.

Hi, do you have a link please. Thanks 😀.

purplecorkheart · 27/12/2024 19:05

Thank you.

Allnewtometoo · 27/12/2024 19:55

I'm going to buy some, can't hurt can it.

If they dobt help, I'll try the mouthguard. I actually think I might have sleep apnoea. I wake up exhausted, really dry mouth too.

CoffeeINeedCoffee · 27/12/2024 20:35

⬆️ As per PP, get on the Mounjaro if you're not already.

Worth a try. 👍

OnTheBoardwalk · 27/12/2024 20:47

I don’t normally go for random clicky links but I do need some new pillows so have ordered some for delivery Monday. I'll let you know what I think

@InfoSecInTheCity hope you aren’t a habitat seller trying to reach their 2024 target 😀

If your heck hurts try shaped pillows. They made my snoring more bearable.

There are a few types
I've got one like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/WENGX-Sleeping-Ergonomic-Shoulder-Orthopedic/dp/B0CTXHYMV9/ref=asc_df_B0CTXHYMV9?mcid=010c9dcfb6513f6eac4dbb8ef5213bb9&tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=699536989089&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=12556666951964315909&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9046323&hvtargid=pla-2305323086146&psc=1&gad_source=1

Christ long link sorry.
Others are triangle shaped, v shaped, all sorts. It took me a week I guess to get used to mine, but it keeps my neck straight. And I snore quieter.

Sadly this looks like a promotion post.

That said, firmer pillows help many issues. my snoring DP, alas, had no joy.

LadyDimpletonFrisby · 29/12/2024 00:48

Hang on why would you take a weight loss drug for snoring ? Confused

Soonenough · 29/12/2024 00:52

You could always use the pillows to cover the face of the snorer beside you too.

In what way does it look like a promotion post?

I linked to the pillows I bought but do you think Habitat are coming on MN to flog their pillow packs?

I've not given any kind of personalised link or promo code or refer a friend so there's no way even if I worked for them (which I don't) that it would link back to me.

Well, after reading this thread yesterday I got my partner to buy the pillows mentioned by @InfoSecInTheCity and last night his snoring was definitely not as bad as usual! He also said that they were comfortable. Thanks OP! you've made a suffering woman very happy x

Yay! Good news.

Although feeling a bit bad now that my poor DH has had to sleep next to my snorting for years and all I needed to do was raise my head a bit further off the bed 😂

Pinkbonbon · 29/12/2024 11:03

I mean logically, when you have a cold, you prompt yourself up with more pillows to keep yo sinuses from shutting. So it make sense you'd snore less if you were getting more air through sleeping in a raised position I suppose.

thescandalwascontained · 29/12/2024 13:05

Well, I (we) need new pillows, and I have found a sleep better with a fatter, firmer pillow recently, so punting on order 2 packs of these for collection this week. Fingers crossed I like them and they help my husband's snoring, too.

BertieBotts · 29/12/2024 14:30

You should ask your GP for a sleep study if you're moving around a lot in sleep as well as snoring, because sleep apnoea can be really hard on your heart.
