Aargh, just thrown up in a restaurant

I feel so embarrassed.

Got something caught in my throat which made me cough uncontrollably and I ended up being sick. Caught it in my napkin then managed to get myself to the loos, but threw up a bit on the floor and the door when the coughing started again. Also on my jacket. Urgh. Horrendous.

Obviously I cleaned up after myself. Not sure whether anybody noticed - certainly no-one came to see if I was ok while I was choking to death at the table.

Just looking for sympathy, I guess...

Oh, I hadn't been drinking at all, and it's definitely not a virus (no nausea).

Oh no! Feeling for you !

Tiswa · 24/12/2024 20:02

Poor you and I know it is embarrassing but however much you think you cleaned up (and I have been there a couple of times with DS doing the same) they do need to know to use proper cleaning stuff

Littletreefrog · 24/12/2024 20:10

Please make sure you tell them and show them where so they can clean properly. Don't worry you won't be the first l

That's pretty poor if no one came to check you were OK when you were coughing, choking on food can be very serious and the staff should have a first aider. When this happened they called an ambulance and took me to hospital , told me to check for foy bleeding or fever in case I aspirated and caught a chest infection.

dudsville · 24/12/2024 20:20

You have my sympathy too, I've had that moment where coughing runs the risk of becoming vomit.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 24/12/2024 20:23

I threw up in the middle of McDonald’s when I was 15 😳. It was a migraine and I’d never had one before. I thought I needed to eat and didn’t understand why I had zig zags in my vision but whilst I was waiting for my food I was sick and then they sat me outside the loos with a bucket. The embarrassment. They replaced my food though.

Brainstorm23 · 24/12/2024 20:35

Oh dear.. poor you! I agree with others though that if you're potentially choking even though it's embarrassing it's best to stay at the table rather than go to bathroom alone. People have been known to choke with nobody to help them.

Iamacatslave · 24/12/2024 20:38

Are you in Nando’s?

Did you see someone chunder?

SeaBaseAlpha · 24/12/2024 20:41

Sympathy and solidarity. I did the same thing in September. I couldn’t get it out, so kept going back and forth from the toilet to the table, eventually gave up, continued to vomit on the walk back to our hotel.. and then in the morning had to check myself in to the local hospital where they gave me a general anaesthetic to get it out!

I doubt anyone noticed, they certainly didn’t when I had the problem!

Hendalle · 24/12/2024 20:45

A sympathies OP. I’ve done the same.
was out to a lovely meal for our wedding anniversary and I ended up throwing up all over myself, and a lovely fancy jumper I’d knitted for myself, and the ground outside the restaurant. I was near the door and all I could do was run. I was so embarrassed and worried that everyone would think I was drunk (I’d not touched a drop).
Its made me so paranoid about eating anywhere other than at home as it just came out of no where.

Flowersonthetv · 24/12/2024 20:47

Here’s some of my stories to make you feel better:

  • I tried to take a tablet with minimal water in a clothes shop it got stuck, I started to throw up so just threw up down my sleeve
  • I was pregnant and threw up in a flower bucket in Asda.

im such a sicky person and thrown up in so many places OP. Glad your ok and it’s bad form no one checked on you. Hope your Christmas Day tomorrow is sick free!

No. I've actually given a clue as to where I was...

I threw up all over the floor in a restaurant in Menorca. I’d choked on some chicken which wouldn’t come up so DH needed to do abdominal thrusts to get up. It came up followed by the rest of my dinner. They were so lovely about it.

We went back 3 years later and they recognised me. I almost died of embarrassment.

I couldn't bear the thought of actually chundering at the table. Well I did, but managed to "contain" it. Eurgh, ugh, uuurrrgh.

If it helps, I once got off a packed commuter bus in the city centre and threw up down the side of a bin in front of about a hundred people (morning sickness).

Busabarf · 24/12/2024 21:04

Thanks for all the solidarity...

This happened to me at my dh’s work Christmas party years ago, I lovely beef Wellington but when I took the first bite the juices of the beef shot down my throat and made me choke, loads of coughing and ended up having to get up and dash to the loo where I continued choking, eyes streaming (make up totally ruined)…..luckily I did make it to the loo but I was so embarrassed and I couldn’t eat the rest of me very expensive meal. Dh was embarrassed by me and the fact I could not eat for the rest of the night.

It was awful and really scary (thought I was going to choke to death). Hope you are ok OP, you have my sympathy.

rosydreams · 24/12/2024 21:10

i projectile vomited on a train no warning .It was my first pregnancy i had no idea until my sister told me we suffer from hypermesis in pregnancy in our family .So embarrassed, its just the worst feeling of shame

Laiste · 24/12/2024 21:11

I've thrown up in my hands. And then had to carry it to the loo 😩

And ... drum roll .... i've been sick on a fox!
I was sitting on the back bumper of my BFs car, with my eyes shut, in the early hours of the morning, feeling really rough. It was quite countrysidey.

I threw up a bit and opened my eyes and there was a big fox right there by my knee and i'd been sick on his foot. He just stood there and looked at me for a bit. And i just looked back thinking 'Bless! A lovely fox! And ... i've just been sick on him!' 😳
Very odd moment.

MrsTigerface · 24/12/2024 21:11

I really hope you feel better now x

Solidarity here, as this happened to me a few years ago. A wee bit went into my napkin, then the rest into the loo (I just made it). The worst thing was that though no one would have noticed the napkin incident, there were lots of poor women in the loos who were forced to listen to the main event of the chundering. I felt mortified, and they were all so nice about it too, one lady went back to the bar and came back with a glass of water for me.

PS I have read your post a couple of times and can’t see the clue to where you were…can you give us another?

Finetoday · 24/12/2024 21:13

Anyone thinking of Mrs Doubtfire ??

Hope you and your jacket are ok OP xx

The clue is in the OP’s username.
