Anyone else awake?

Anonymous2003 · 17/12/2024 05:02

Been lying awake for probably over an hour and a half worried sick about someone close to me, and angry about how their behaviour is affecting my family... Don't know why I'm posting this, think I just want to feel less totally alone 😞

I just fell asleep at 4.30 after being up since 5am the day before and have done nothing but worry and stress , awake again worrying and stressing
I hope whatever has kept everyone up, a positive outcome awaits you all

Well, I'm off to bed, having had my bereaved nerves calmed somewhat by my hot tea and something sweet. I note none of you obeyed my fake-Mum instruction to sort yourselves out with same! Blimey, no wonder I'm childfree. 🤭

WendyWagon · 17/12/2024 06:44

Good morning. I'm always up too early as I'm on sick leave. I'm OK but trying to get medically retired.
I like a strong Yorkshire tea and an Aldi shortbread biscuit. I m on the very active alcohol support thread. Perhaps take a look? I would recommend reading Sober Dave who has a chapter on the adult children of alcoholics.
I tend to watch things like Downton when I can't sleep but in a busy household I like silence.

@AuntieMarys i'm so sorry. I lost my brother last year. Soneone once told me our family walk with us always. It gives me comfort. It might be hogwash but I think I see them ocassionally. The dog certainly barks and wags his tail. My brother was a bit of a dog whisper.

I've got to go out early or I'd try for a second kip.

@WendyWagon
I'll have a look at that as I want to understand and how his alcoholic dad is effecting my son.
Thank you to everyone for the hugs, I ended up crying in work and am now home and need to deal with this today it's my priority.

bluebalou · 17/12/2024 10:12

@UniqueOP your right about work, I went in and started crying as it hit me how bad it's become and I'm home now to deal with this and help my son sort this mess out, but thank you.

@Anonymous2003 how are you today?

I'm exhausted but I have an interview on Friday so a small positive.

Did you get any sleep? X

I say a small positive, I passed the telephone interview and it's £30k more than what I was on so pretty cool really. Won't get it but still

AvalancheOfCheese · 17/12/2024 10:36

Thank you.

What are you doing today? Please do something that makes you feel good - be it small or seemingly insignificant, but do something for you, Yeah?

You cant control anyone else, you can only control yourself and your reactions to people or things.

Look after yourself x

@AvalancheOfCheese i am meeting up with a friend who i went to primary school with. She has learning difficulties so I can't really open up to her (to an extent) but hoping that will be nice. I've agreed to work an evening shift tonight 6-11pm 🤮 my thinking was it wil be a few hours distraction as otherwise i'd be sitting in the house overthinking

Well hopefully it will take your mind off things even if it's just for a short while.

Thank you! You did the same for me too.

We can't fix each others worries or problems but it meant so much to know I'm not alone.

You may not find the answers right away, but I don't want you to feel alone and hopeless. X
