Thanks :-) The meaning of sartorial surprised me. Here’s me been thinking it’s referring to something highfaluting and intellectual all these years…

Use it and enjoy! 😁

I used the word cumbersome yesterday in a message yesterday and felt strangely pleased with myself.

I also like hapless.

That's reminded me of curmudgeonly.

Also blob, it sounds just like a... well, blob 😁

I love this thread! Some very interesting choices - some sound horrible me, though!

My two fave English words are colloquial and capacious.
My two fave Welsh words are cwtch (a hug or small snook, often under the stairs) and mochyn (pig).

And on the subject of horrible words, I hate the word fork/folk. Anyone else?

DebbieTheCat · 15/12/2024 11:13

@JayJayEl Is popty-ping a real thing or an urban myth?

I've just come across heebie jeebies - that's a good description I think.

Oblong

I was coming on to post the very same!
I like the feel when I say it (not that it's something that pops into many conversations, sadly....)

It’s pleasing to say, isn’t it?! It’s also quite a funny word. I always think if you can get “oblong” into a jokey comment, it becomes ten times funnier. Although, as you say, it doesn’t come up that often 😄

Funnily enough - considering the words I shared - "popty-ping" is colloquial! 😂
