What are your plans on this stormy day?

This rain is horrendous! Just in the conservatory drinking coffee, reflecting and I'm hoping for a snuggly day in front of the TV.

We planned to potter into town today for lunch and shopping but I absolutely want to throw the plan out, order in, watch old Xmas movies and have a glass of red.

Trying to decide what to do regarding kids hobbies. It's supposed to clear up by lunch time here. So it'll either be hobbies or napping

SockFluffInTheBath · 07/12/2024 08:27

Inspired by the SIL thread, it looks like a films and Christmas food kind of day.

MissyB1 · 07/12/2024 08:28

Supposedly catching a train to the midlands for an extended family get together, no idea if trains will run or not!

Yes! Re; the Christmas food.

I feel a charcuterie/cheeseboard action plan....

Is it too early to start on the Pringles and wine?

Christmas time is like airport time. Acceptable at anytime.

In bed recovering from flu doing Christmas stocking shopping online. Just been told one of DS's friends has nowhere to go for Christmas, so he is coming to us for a few days and I have to rustle up a few stocking presents for him as well as DC, their partners, and DH. Going to keep me busy for most of the day.

livingafulllife · 07/12/2024 09:02

Its ny favourite weather.
The storm hit last night i slept like a log.
Today im gonna binge on youtube.
And listen to the wind and rain.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 07/12/2024 09:07

I bought the Motherland box set so I might watch that while drinking cocoa.

Also could put the tree up and wrap presents.

Wegovypictures · 07/12/2024 09:08

I'm jealous of anyone who thought ahead and has Christmas food / cheese board / Pringles in.

To have a snuggly inside food day I need to walk to the shops SadSadSad such a dilemma

TheYearOfSmallThings · 07/12/2024 09:13

We are at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre and I have never been more appreciative of the excellent indoor track and facilities.

MsXmasGGMasterTwat · 07/12/2024 09:20

I’ve made a loaf of bread so that I don’t need to go out.

I have got to drive tonight to pickup DC1, but I’ve decided on a day at home, pottering, productive pottering.

I might get the ladders out and vacuum my light fittings in the living room as I noticed they resemble a bug graveyard last week.

Might wax my legs which I hate doing but haven’t been organised enough to make an appointment.

Not much else, maybe find something to watch. I saw something I fancied was coming to Apple TV but I can’t remember what it was now.

FknOmniShambles · 07/12/2024 09:23

Been out and done the shopping while dh has a lie in. Was meant to be buying the tree and doing that but it really doesn't seem appealing at the moment!
Going to have a bit of a clean and watch some TV then this evening making lovely curries for dinner - saag for me and jalfrezi for him, with plenty of wine.
Could be worse!

We had originally planned to pop into town to do some Christmas shopping, but we won’t be braving the storm - especially because we live in a red alert zone!

It looks like we will curl up on the sofa to watch some movies. I expect we will continue with our Harry Potter marathon 😊

ThatHardyTealDuck · 07/12/2024 09:48

On rainy days, I like to bake some bread and cookies, then eat while watching TV. After I'm full, I fall asleep listening to the sound of the rain. Although storms can be scary, to me, it's the perfect white noise.😊

HPandthelastwish · 07/12/2024 09:53

I'm on the east coast and it's just a bit windy here, I'll pop for a walk along the beach and watch the waves and into the pub for a hot chocolate then walk home. And settle down with a book, I'm trying to get through my 'To be ready' pile before Christmas

MarmaladeSideDown · 07/12/2024 09:57

It's not all that bad where we are, just normal winter wet and windy. I've been to Aldi for some odds and ends, and DH has taken the cat to the vet for a checkup after her operation the other day. That all went well, and she's doing fine, thank goodness.

Once I've finished this coffee, I'm going to re-jig the freezer drawers to make room for the frozen turkey crown I just bought, and after that I might just read a book.

Dh took DD (2yrs) swimming and I just went through her room, tidying and sorting out. Moved the cot so she can't throw thing etc. I also changed the beds and put a wash on. Just getting a sneaky cup of tea before they get back.

DH is going to London at lunchtime for a boys meet up and DD and I are going to a local charity father christmas with a friend and her boy. Then quiet night in for DD and I.

I must get logs in for the woodburner and clean the kitchen too!

DM was going to come over but it's a 2 HR drive and not safe so we are seeing her next week.

That sounds like such a lovely day. Nicely busy but not too much. Have fun.

Well Christmas tree has gone up a week earlier than usual, done that this morning. Sitting here praying that everything stays undamaged. As we are due to move house in the new year. And I'm at that age where I worry about EVERYTHING....

Sunnnybunny72 · 07/12/2024 10:29

Putting up the Xmas decs, doing a pile of ironing, watching F1 and packing as we fly to Munich in the morning for a few days.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 07/12/2024 10:31

I’m having a pyjama day. Got home early yesterday so did all my washing and housework last night, had my Tesco delivery this morning so we’re fully stocked with food and drink. Had a mince pie for breakfast, now sitting by the Christmas tree with the cat listening to Christmas music. Will watch film or 2 later, listen to a podcast, probably have an afternoon nap at some point and then pizza for dinner in front of strictly. A perfect Saturday after a busy week at work!

Crikeyalmighty · 07/12/2024 10:34

Well I'm in Bath with few people in a coffee shop- it's just windy here - but to be honest nothing that you can't just think 'oh it's windy' very slight drizzle -
