What are your plans on this stormy day?

This rain is horrendous! Just in the conservatory drinking coffee, reflecting and I'm hoping for a snuggly day in front of the TV.

We planned to potter into town today for lunch and shopping but I absolutely want to throw the plan out, order in, watch old Xmas movies and have a glass of red.

Red alert too here but just a bit windy and damp - totally fed up off my phone going off

WhatWouldHopperDo · 07/12/2024 10:37

I’m going to do all my chores as quickly as I can. Play with DDog to wear him out because he absolutely won’t go for a walk in this. Then my snuggling will begin! I have Pringles, hot dogs and tequila!

Legoandloldolls · 07/12/2024 10:38

I'm SE and everything I had planned has been cancelled. I don't think it's been too bad here. Got a kids Christmas party at a soft play center tonight so hopefully will be going to that.

skippy67 · 07/12/2024 10:42

Going to the shops in a bit to return a couple of things. Will probably end up buying more than I returned. Going to the footy later with DH and adult DS. Out tonight with DH for either dinner, or drinks. Hopefully both😊

In bed recovering from flu doing Christmas stocking shopping online. Just been told one of DS's friends has nowhere to go for Christmas, so he is coming to us for a few days and I have to rustle up a few stocking presents for him as well as DC, their partners, and DH. Going to keep me busy for most of the day.

Love this, bet he is over the moon to have a plan now. It's actually brought tears to my eyes.

Hope you find some nice bits. There are some fab stocking threads on here.

OrangesCinammonIvy · 07/12/2024 10:46

Plans to go out cancelled for me, I'm hoping to get the house ready for Xmas, cleaning, clothes away, painting! Hanging pictures..

HelpMeGetThrough · 07/12/2024 10:48

Youngest is in bed and probably will be all day, as he's feeling like crap, so we won't see him for most of the day.

An afternoon sat in the warm drinking a few glasses of red I think.

sanityisamyth · 07/12/2024 10:49

DS is at taekwondo - has his grading next weekend. Housework after that though. We're in south Wales.

OhBeAFineGuyKissMe · 07/12/2024 10:50

In bed with a grotty cold and feeling blurghh. Nice to listen to the wind though.

Norugratsatall · 07/12/2024 10:51

Recently back from the US. I have a horrible cold, no doubt picked up on the return flight. Was supposed to go to choir rehearsal but have sent apologies for that. DH and I bought a Xmas tree yesterday so will put that up today, hunker down, read a book and watch Strictly semi-final later. Stay warm and dry all!

Doggymummar · 07/12/2024 10:52

Im On my second Bailey's latte and got breakfast pasties in the Ninja. Then watching Elf. This afternoon I will do my usual go to bed with a Radio 4 play, Oliver twist today get up around 6, shower and we are having a roast chicken dinner, followed by Die Hard.b

Oooo! What belt is he grading for?

leia24 · 07/12/2024 10:54

I've just been doing housework stuff and now watching TV with a coffee, nd the Xmas lights on. Meant to be at a charity performance tonight which is outdoors and no sign it's cancelled yet 🙃

CatNight · 07/12/2024 10:56

Was planning on doing some Christmas shopping but that’s out! Wind is already kicking up and they are reporting 60mph gusts and heavy rain here. Watching our large trees whipping about is a bit frightening. I wonder how many trees will be coming down in this storm.

I felt the same when I heard he had nowhere to go.

Good idea to look up the stocking threads on here. So far DS has recommended a book he thinks he'd like, I've found some lovely bath and shaving stuff online and I know what his favourite sweets are already so I am ordering those. But something quirky to surprise him would be nice.

Christmas time is like airport time. Acceptable at anytime.

This made me laugh.

PrincessPeache · 07/12/2024 11:01

We are going to clean the house, put a few more Christmas decorations up (taking it very slowly to accommodate DS’s special needs and stop him getting overstimulated in the last few weeks before school breaks up), walk to the corner shop for popcorn and then snuggle on the sofa for a movie night if we can find something to watch!

Cattery · 07/12/2024 11:01

@SereneCapybara Thats so lovely. I hope he has a great Christmas with you all x

SunnieShine · 07/12/2024 11:02

I'm meeting a friend for lunch. Trying not to wish I could stay home and watch telly with the cat.

Littletinytarzanswingingfromanosehair · 07/12/2024 11:04

Well, DP has insisted we go out for lunch and get out for a fresh stroll.

Because I'm in a no make-up, comfy clothes vibe, I have compromised with a drive to country pub rather then a town restaurant followed by a trip to M&S for a calorific pudding.

Loved all your posts so far 😍.

Feeling a bit sad and aimless because a much looked forward to family event has been cancelled due to amber warnings. So two unexpected days free but I don't feel excited about it. I have unpacked my overnight bag which I enjoyed packing yesterday but that's about it.

Maybe a hot chocolate and a start on my tax return. I need to give myself a kick up the posterior really, we are all warm and safe.

MargaretThursday · 07/12/2024 11:10

I'm going up to the top of a Surrey hill to say "ssh" to children who are speaking far quieter than the wind half the time and the rest of the time try to encourage them to speak loud enough to drown the wind.
When they've gone I'm going to try and take around 30 costumes from my car to the changing room without the door blowing off my car.

I was thinking of faking a migraine and staying in bed, but both my ds (who is in it) and the director might kill me....

Sheknowsaboutme · 07/12/2024 11:11

Its a baking/pottering day.

Homemade sausage rolls (with caramelised onion) in the oven.

chocolate fudge cake going in once they are cooked.

mini clearing in the utility, then take DS to work, pizza for tea and chill .

fire already going!

IsChristmasOverYetPlease · 07/12/2024 11:19

I’m WFH till 4pm so I got up super early (5.30am) to hang up the washing I set to finish at that time. Then cleaned my house before starting at 8am.

After work, I’m hoping to walk into town to a quick shop before heading home to a clean house, a bath, cheese board and Strictly.

Heaven!

aintnospringchicken · 07/12/2024 11:22
